Absolutely great time here. We loved swimming in the sea. The sea was quite shallow for a way the temperature ideal and we loved the waves. We thoroughly enjoyed a walk and the views were fabulous. Great parking and clean toilets.

Very beautiful place with nice scenery and many birds. I was extremely lucky to see kiwi bird here in the middle of Sunday couple of weeks ago. Unbelievable.

20 January, Saturday. Beautiful drive from Matakana to Tawharanui. Nice views of Omaha beach. When we arrived there, the car park was full, we then decided to swim at Jones bay and come back another day, earlier.

Absolutely stunning. A short drive from Matakana with lots of very windy roads, but well worth it. Prolific bird life and stunning spots to camp or picnic. You may even catch a wave or two

One of the most beautiful beaches tobvisit. This is just over an hour from Auckland and a great place to take the family for swimming and boogie boarding. There is plenty of space to set up camp for the day and the brand new toilets are clean and tidy.

Anchor Bay in the Tawharanui Regional Park is a beautiful beach with views, fun waves, and cool caves and rock pools to explore when tide is low enough. Enough parking but can be hard to find. Worth the drive and traffic from a temporary red light from road works. Defs will come back!

Brilliant on a nice day. Fairly easy walk that the kids enjoyed. Great views out over Kawau and up to Omaha. Had a picnic by the beach qhich was nice. Probably would not go if it's too windy as its fairly exposed being a peninsula

A lovely location for a cheeky swim, hike, picnic with the fam, etc. Great amenities - changing rooms, drinking taps and public toilet. (As at 3 Sep 2022) There's upgrades/maintenance going on at the main carpark area in preparation for the summer. Visitors are re-directed to the campground carpark. The changing rooms and public toilets are closed too. However the toilets at the campground carpark are available.

Mid distance hiking track for all fitness level, gradual elevation makes it an easy walk. Good view of the beaches and rock formations at the lookout.

Used to surf here in the 90s,back when it was a gravel road with a gravel parking area. Fast forward to 2024 and the road is sealed and there is a toilet block. "If you build it they will come" - in droves. Admittedly it was New Years Day, but I'm pretty sure the entire population of Mangere was there. Madness It's a stunning beach tho and marine reserve. Just go outside peak times. Also be aware that both here and Omaha all converge on a roundabout and windy road back to Warkworth, so unless you want to be caught in the world's longest tailback on a sunny weekend day, leave before 3pm or after 7pm.

Very nice weekend getaway. The beach is really good and the walk around the park is also refreshing. Great for watching the view and taking photos. The car park could be big and it would be nice to have more water taps, showers, and toilets to save some walking.

It worths to have the 5 stars rated. White sand beaches are big enough for you to find your favorite spot to relax. Camping ground, walking tracks, toilets, drinking water fountains. We enjoy to have a walk around the peninsula, it's amazingly beautiful. 5.5 hours to walk 18km.

We loved the new toilet blocks and upgrades over the last few years. The walking track are varied. The highlight was the huge number of endemic birds Korimako, TΔ«eke, PΔ«wakawaka and TΕ«Δ«. The tracks were well maintained and signage was informative but not intrusive. This is a perfect place for a family walk, we did a loop from the Anchor bay carpark via the fisherman track and the southern costal track. It took us 2 hours at a very relaxed ambling pace.

Visited on a weekday. It was very peaceful and clean. We did a 2-3h loop walk to some viewpoints. The views are gorgeous and we saw lots of different birds on the walk.

Great spot for boogie boarding, especially on days with easterly winds while the tide comes in. There are lots of parking. Be prepared for a bit of a walk from your parking spot if you decide to go later in the day. This is a regional park so no shops or commercial activity. Bring your own everything. There are decent bathroom facilities.

Took a lovely hike on the Ecology trail and heard a kaka and saw many native birds. The trail is well kept and not too muddy despite the rain. Good to see baby takahe as well, though it was too far to get a photo.

Practically a perfect place to spend a nice sunny NZ day. The waves and sands are amazing. All that is needed is a place to get food and snacks then I think I'd never go home! Tip: A small trolley to carry all your gear to the site is priceless.

Peaceful place ,great for fishing and snorkling, nice and clean beach , beautiful place to go

The drive is long but once you arrive it is beach time. Plenty shade and wide beach means everyone can make the most of it. The water was cold but you quickly become used to it. The waves are continious and you can boogy or small surfboard but SUP and kayaks will struggle.

This place is pure NZ beauty!! The beach has surf waves, soft white sand and there is plenty of space to park and walk down the many entries to this big beach! Unisex individual toilets on the hill and the end parking space and a large area to use for family picnics. Bring your boggie board and make sure your family know how to swim! β˜€οΈ
