We stopped by here for lunch after previously driving past the road to it. The parking area was quite large so there were plenty of spaces to choose from when we were there. We managed to get one of the table under the trees to eat lunch on. The grassy area was quite big so plenty of space to run around in. The water is past the grassy area. There are also quite a few BBQs around the area for anyone to use. There are two water areas, one side with calm water and the other with waves. We went to the wavy side. We were able to grab an area by the edge of the beach for our gear and played around in the water. There was a life guardhouse but it was closed when we were there. There is a toilet block with showers by the beach and another larger set of toilets further down, by the information signboard. It also looked like there were quite a bit of tracks to walkthrough too. It is a nice place to spend some time relaxing on the beach, either in the water or out of it.

Gorgeous beach, with warm water and soft sand. Perfect for families at low tide but has some fun waves to swim in at high tide

Been here many times and still wonders me how beautiful this place is. If you have kids and plans to swim, timing it to low tide - you'll see a mini sand bar 😉

Great summer destination. Lots of people were here over new year so parking space was really tight. Overall, great to see everyone enjoying outdoors.

Wenderholm park was a wild card pick. Found a rare sunny Sunday so we just drove towards Silverdale and picked this place. I had not even seen it's review but I knew at least the drive would be fun. We had a few visual treats. Orewa centre had the line of restaurants we've always missed in North shore, the lodges lining that road are a beauty, and then a sharp disappearing turn brings us to this park. The large trees lining up the entrance set the tone. We had lunch at one of the tables, I hugged some old trees, we spent time on the beach and by then it was time to return. The hilly trail awaits for a next time which I look forward to. A Must visit.

Not long before Christmas day, we spent the night in our campervan at Wenderholm. We were virtually on our own besides 2 resident Ruru. It was serene and peaceful, away from all the hustle and bustle. The cost was $17. So it's a nice little get away close to 40 mins from the city with lovely bush and beach walks.

The entire park is so gorgeous. There is so much space and loads of areas to park up and camp, have a bbq, picnic, relax, swim and go for on walks. We did the Perimeter track walk and it was lovely. The views at different points were stunning. I would highly recommend visiting this park!

Very well maintained path and track, toilet lights up automatically when dark, lots of BBQ and picnic areas, a few access to beaches, boat ramps and tracks. Plenty of parking all along the park. Lots of trees with low branches for children to explore.

Lovely park, spacious for a nice sunny day out camping. ⛺️ I visited the same park and beach a day after Christmas and it wasn’t pristine. It was crowded, and the beach had a foul smell, it wasn’t natural. I went again last weekend with my husband and our friends and we had a nice day out. It was clean, the beach was AMAZING, it was crowded but something was different this time. We did a picnic 🧺 with delicious South Indian food cooked by our friends mum from Hyderabad and a few other northern deliciousness too! Highly recommended for a picnic at this park. 😊

Went in winter can get muddy. Clean modern toilet facilities. 4 walking tracks. With a combination of stairs, track, and board. Keep an eye up for bird life and Listen to the birds sing while enjoying the view. Stretch of beach with people fishing at low tide. The museum is only open over the weekends from 1 pm - 4 pm. Admission fee adults $5 children free.

This is the second time I've went here. The first was eventful and I got to see some small crustaceans and molluscs in the rock pools. However, this time, because of the windy conditions –therefore high tide– I didn't get the chance to see the marine animals. There were also lots of dead, washed up animals on the shore (I had spotted 4 dead fish and a couple echidnoderms). Furthermore, watch out for a pair of oystercatchers who will screech and intimidate you; they seem to be guarding a nest.

Wenderholm is a magic place. The bird life: Pukekoes, Ducks, Fantails and Gulls are all amazingly adapted to people and friendly. Great view nearby over the harbour. Lots of very old Pohutukawas. Loved it.

An enjoyable walk with a good mix of native bush and stunning views as you get higher up. It's very muddy at this time of year, so for less experienced trampers, I would recommend walking this track in summertime.

Such a great spot. The camp ground is dotted with pockets of trees, giving shelter and privacy for campers. There's a modern toilet block and a stop of reserve at the edge of the estuary. Lovely

I recently had the opportunity to visit Wenderholm Regional Park and I was thoroughly impressed by the facilities and natural beauty of the area. The park is located on the Puhoi estuary and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape, including the water and the surrounding bush. One of the things I appreciated most about Wenderholm Regional Park was the great facilities that were available to visitors. There are numerous picnic tables and BBQs scattered throughout the park, making it easy to find a spot to relax and enjoy a meal. There are also clean, well-maintained restrooms located throughout the park, which was much appreciated. Another highlight of my visit to Wenderholm Regional Park was the safe swimming area. Located just a short walk from the main car park, the swimming area is protected by a breakwater and is perfect for families with young children. The water was crystal clear and inviting, and I had a great time swimming and playing in the waves. Overall, I would highly recommend a visit to Wenderholm Regional Park. Whether you're looking to relax in the great outdoors, go for a swim, or just enjoy a picnic with the family, this is the perfect place to do it.

Beautiful area! Truly a sight to behold! Has a good selection of walks in the forest. There's also a beautiful beach with many seashells. Good place for a picnic but could use more trash cans. Does have toilets.

Great park with access to beaches, open grass areas and a boat ramp. Quite a few barbecues to use. Public toilet and changing facilities.

👍👍 Take a day trip out to the west coast’s Muriwai Beach and experience the huge gannet colony. There are a number of viewing platforms that allow you to get quite close to them. Try and go on a nice clear sunny day to make the most of it.

👍👍 Such a well kept park. My 2.5yr old just loved it!! She walked/ran the whole way round even up the stairs.
