Although a small regional park compared to other nearby parks, it offers a great vista once you hike up to the top of the rolling hills. It’s not a rough hike but can be very muddy & slippery after rain.

This is a beautiful place!!! We spent three wonderful hours walking on the beach and looking at the historical buildings with interesting videos accessed by QR codes at each building narrated by Joan Scandrett.

Beautiful ride from Snells Beach. Hills of course but manageable. Roads are nice and quiet.

Great walking available through sheep paddocks > close the gates :) Many native birds present. Clean toilets, big carpark. Old house with a lovely garden you are free to roam - interesting stories of the family & farming history to accompany your visit.

Gorgeous views, great place for families. Quiet and peaceful. Beach is shallow for a long way so really good place for less confident swimmers. White sand with shells, good for kids shell hunting. Rock pools are good for sealife exploring.

Really nice place for hiking. Different levels, somewhere you need to put a bit more effort to walk (hillsides). Stunning views, pastoral landscapes with sheep. Fishing is closed.

Stayed here in one of their self contained camper spots. Absolutely stunning views, and lovely park to walk around, plus historic buildings and a lovely beach. Definately worth a look!

Magnificent sheltered cove. Great swimming and walking tracks. Three baches on the beach can be booked for stays through the Auckland Council website Check out the old Scandrett Homestead next to the carpark. It contains some nicely curated information on the Scandrett's family's 160 years of living and farming in the area.

Peaceful and relaxing, see some history and take in the views. There's plenty to see, and some great trails. Highly recommend.

Stayed at the SCC campsite here for one night, the park was beautiful and we had an amazing view from the campsite. The only reason I gave a 4 star review was that the campsite was very small and uneven, as we were the only people staying we could park on the small part of flat ground. I imagine if the campsite was full it could be quite annoying!

👍👍 Take a day trip out to the west coast’s Muriwai Beach and experience the huge gannet colony. There are a number of viewing platforms that allow you to get quite close to them. Try and go on a nice clear sunny day to make the most of it.
