My boyfriend bought me here for dinner using first table. I just have fallen in love with your restaurant. It was beautifully humbling to be surrounded by so much beauty. The atmosphere, the setting, the staff, the food, everything was just so amazing. My boyfriend and I will be back to try breakfast and I have my eyes on the high tea. Thank you kindly

Was here for a business lunch Spring 2022 with some co workers while visiting Auckland. Located in downtown CBD with plenty of dining and shopping around. Fancy restaurant in a nice hotel (Sofitel) it has a colonial feel to it. Set up feels like a cafe very open more so than formal restaurant. The menu is not super extensive but feels refined. Usual offering of pasta, seafood, steak and fowl. I had the gnocchi pasta while others had the steak. Fried butter milk chicken and polenta fries to start - all very well done. Only drawback is the price. Service was great.

I recently stayed for business and I was absolutely impressed with the service and food quality at Cooke's. Normally restaurants attached to hotels can be below par, but this was a stand out. So much so, i will return to stay as the restaurant was so good. I stayed for 4 nights Mon-Fri. The breakfast was included in my rate and I had the sour dough with poached eggs & hollindaise which i couldn't go past each day. Coffee was hot and just right. I used the restaurant for pre-dinner drinks with colleagues and appreciated the Louis Rodderer champagne which was always crisp. Dinner was absolutely delicious, prawn and scallop risotto. Wow. Full compliments to the chef. But above all the service from Cathy Zhu was warm, considerate and welcoming. I look forward to seeing Cathy each day. Sam was also a friendly and fun barman. Even if you are not staying here, meet a colleague for an afternoon drink. If you are staying, no need to venture out, it's worth staying in.

me and my wife came into Fable Auckland / Cooke’s restaurant and bar for lunch today. We had seen pictures and had high expectations to start with. We clearly mentioned we were there for lunch and were given a standard menu off which we ordered. We both thought the food was of poor quality. When we had finished and were grabbing the bill, I saw a pamphlet of Cooke’s also being a restaurant of the month. When asked we were told there was a 2 course menu priced at $45 each as per the promotion. When asked why we weren’t offered the option or told about it earlier, the staff made it seem like it was a mistake and simply said “Maybe next time you can try it” So, it’s clear that they wanted us to pay regular prices. It’s a shame that a hotel of this standard is miss selling to its patrons. We paid $125 for one entree, one side and a main (with 2 drinks) when we could have had more food for $90. I think that’s very unfair and I will be writing about this to Heart of the City who are organisers of this promotion. Absolutely disappointed in Fable Auckland. Prior to dining I asked the staff (In suit) if we could have a look at the rooms as we were planing a hotel stay in town for my birthday this September. We were told to speak to the front office staff and that this could be arranged. On our way out, I spoke to the front office staff who then asked if we could come in on a weekday to have a look at the rooms. It’s like he didn’t care that we were potential guests. His excuse was “We’ve had a busy week and most rooms are being cleaned. We’re short staff today as well so, can you come back on a weekday” What a joke! Maybe that would have been an option if Fable was the only hotel in Auckland. I understand that there are limitations around servicing a customer but you can never drop your service standards. Specially not when you’re boasting to be one of the best hotels in Auckland.

["I have tried a few high teas in Auckland and this is the best I\u2019ve had by far. The environment was lovely and stylish and service was very quick. Each item on the high tea menu was delicious and had some\nunique flavours to them, rather than your usual scones and sandwiches. Generous serving of tea too. Really reasonable price as well.",null,[0,203]]

["We walked into a quiet environment which was a welcome contrast to the busy bustle of Queen Street. Two stations were kind enough to direct us to the right desk deeper inside the building. Aom (our guide for the High Tea) met us and led us to our table. The rest is history but a beautiful one at that. They handled a last minute change request with zero fuss but a confirmation that kitchen and chef were aligned. I'll add more detail over time or when I wake up from this food coma but needless to say, it was outstanding. We boxed the rest for take out. It's a Filipino thing. Thank you Urban List for your June 24 article on top places for High Tea. So many to choose from but Cookes was outstanding. To top it all off, they brought us a special dessert setting to celebrate our anniversary. We loved it. Thank you Aom and team for making it an amazing day. One for the books.",null,[0,239]]

Was a very delicious experience. Service was a bit slow on occasion, but we were a party if 14 and the restaurant got packed. However. The ambience was sweet, the food was delicious (wagyu beef was amazing as was the linguine, the potato skins and the tortellini. Definitely recommended.

Great Ambiance. The food was good but not great. The Raviolo was bit thick. Cocktails were not strong enough, seems to be diluted and felt like a mocktail. Service was poor, had to call multiple times and asked for a suggestion nobody attended for nearly 15 mins. Only 2 tables were there but not sure why that happend. Also the cocktails were supposed to be concocted live at the table but it was already mixed and served. Bit of disappointment with the service.

My husband and I had dinner there. Loved the food. We had the wagyu as a starter and it was amazing. As main dishes, I had two starters: sashimi and tortelloni. Both very tasty! My partner ordered the lamb and the meat was incredibly delicious and tender. However, the start of the night was Umut, the lovely Turkish waiter that was serving us. He was very polite and gave us helpful suggestions over the menu. Although it is located downtown, when you go into the restaurante, you completely forget about the chaos outside. Very pleasant atmosphere. Also, the toilets were super clean and well equipped! Will go back there for sure!

I visited on a conference yesterday and even with the big group we had, the food service was impeccable and timely. They had no problem creating vegan options for me (with notice) including lunch, canopes, and the three courses for dinner. I thoroughly enjoyed each of them, and could tell the thought and effort put into the dishes. Thank you to the staff (who were all so lovely), and thank you to the very talented kitchen staff. Can’t recommend enough

This was our first booking through First Table and it was amazing! The timing was perfect for dinner before a concert. There were only two or three other couples in the whole restaurant, so it felt like we had the place all to ourselves. We wondered whether we would experience a lower standard of service because we were getting the food for half price, but if anything we got special treatment. Service was prompt and attentive. They gave us complementary fresh-baked bread with oil before dinner. The cocktails were superb - powerful tastes - they do not skimp on ingredients or water them down. The eye fillet steak was nice - at least 8/10. But the chicken was unbelievable - the tenderest we have ever eaten - 10/10. The dessert of roasted peach and dark chocolate gelato was excellent. The portion sizes were perfect for us, but be aware that you dine at Cooke's for the taste and quality, not for the quantity. The presentation is top-notch. The chef and bartender each personally came to the table to check that their work was up to standard. We would not often dine at a restaurant of this calibre, but First Table made it affordable, and we are so glad that we did.

Popped in here for lunch and could not have been happier. The atmosphere was calm and soothing, a respite from the street. My partner and I both had the fish of the day with puy lentils, smoked cabbage purée and fennel, and it was gorgeous. My daughter had the spaghetti bolognese from the kids' menu and said it was the best meal she'd ever had. For dessert I had the panna cotta and my partner had the poached pear. Both were super delicious.

The food here is okay, went for the high tea and was a little disappointed in the flavours. There was a sandwich with way too much cream cheese. It was so filling I could barely eat anything after. I'm a big fan of cream cheese and this was over the top even for me. I regret eating as much of it as I did. The tea itself was fine, I enjoyed the crumbed lamb ball and the macaron. Unfortunately when we went (1pm) it was rather empty and there were several flies and mozzies gunning for our food. It was off-putting as we were non-stop trying to swat them away but they would still land on our food/cups. The server was understanding and offered to replace my dessert where a stubborn mozzie was stuck. Overall I felt it was a bit overpriced and doubt I'll come back here.

Food was on average pretty poor. Gnocchi was gluggy, chicken roulade was under seasoned and bland and the deserts were terrible. The panna cotta was so dense it was like a hockey puck served with hard rice crackle better reserved for a children’s birthday party. A mille-feuille is not a scoop of ice cream and a couple of small disks of flavourless pastry. Table water was charged at $12 a bottle. No tap water option was offered. Service was lacklustre. Don’t waste your money.

The restaurant has a very calming and modern decor which creates a great atmosphere. My husband and I both had the Fable Complete breakfast which was delicious. The service we received from Aom was outstanding she was attentive and very kind. Thank you.

Had a reservation for high tea, had to cancel with a few hours notice as my child ended up at the emergency department. Explained the unfortunate circumstances & asked if could change to another day. Said no & still charged due to their cancellation policy, disapointed at lack of undestanding for a completely unforeseen sitatuion.
