What happened to east care?? The service has gone from 5 stars to zero star! Note to self not to come back. Even if it close by!!! When people are in pain they needs help not told off. Not like they want to go to east care! So firstly, the doctor assumed instead of diagnosis the ear. Then making false note that I didn't listen to my family doctor when my husband called up, after he trying to book the ear clinic and the ear clinic recommended him to get in touch back with the doctor for ear drop and antibiotics. End result was pointless. Wish I didn't go to east care in the first place!

Brought my 1 year old in for the second time this week as he was getting sicker (no gp was available at my normal doctors). The check in nurse was nice and caring and said we had to wait in the car to be seen (despite negative rat test) We waited 1 hour in the car before I decided to go back in to ask how long it will to be seen - the new check in lady said 3-4 hours. I don’t know why they didn’t tell me that when first sending me to the car? 3-4 hours in a car with a sick baby! I ask the receptionist where we were in the cue - she had no idea! We weren’t even in the cue apparently! She was so rude and had an ugly attitude (Asian lady). She ask me to repeat my name , address etc multiple times to annoy me while my baby is crying in pain. At this point i had been polite but I was starting to get impatient after being fluffed around by her. She asked me to go to my car to try get rid of me but I stood my ground until she answered my question , quite simple really but my son wasn’t even placed in cue til right then so we had been waiting for NOTHING. My son declined being stuck in a car for so long. I understand they get busy but come on, it is part of your job to maintain professionalism at all times. If you can’t uphold customer service standards you are in the wrong job. She also was rambling about other patients to me , pretty much complaining. I have been in customer service for many years and that was strange to me. Get your waiting list organisation together east care. I went to Ti Rakau instead of waiting and was prescribed medication I should have got on my first visit and Their staff were also busy but very professional. I also think in general , babies should be properly examined inside , not in a car. You guys missed vital information resulting in my baby’s health worsening. Never going back!

Absolutely disgusted!! I drove for nearly 40mins sick as a dog, all the flu symptoms (RAT-negative) and shortness of breath. Really struggling to even speak at this point. Got there to be told “a doctor may or may not see you” 3 hours before they close. The nurse took my temperature and heart rate and said “your oxygen level is at 99% (um what?) you’re fine, we are at full capacity so you’re going to have to go somewhere else” While constantly coughing and struggling to breathe, I told her I have run out of my asthma inhalers and she didn’t seem to care at all. I am actually still in shock this even happened. If you aren’t an empathetic person, then don’t work in healthcare! I could’ve been resting at home instead of coming all the way here to be turned away. I do not recommend this place at all!

Very bad service, they will treat you in a way and make you wait for hours and hours so that you never come back . Even if you have really bad flu , you are sick , constantly coughing: East care procedure: First nurse will take your details at entrance. Then you will get a call from another nurse to take same details that you have already given at the entrance Then you ll be told after the wait of 30-40minutes that they ll do a covid test They after 1 hour someone will come and do the test ( no matter its positive or negative the advice of the doctor regarding your flu will be the same) Then after another 1 hour of wait the doctor will come to tell you that they can’t do anything in this, it ll go with time . Like seriously? No Blood test, No ECG nothing Complete waste of time

Parents came in because there daughter swallowed a fish bone or a sun flower seed and the nurse was really rude to them and made them feel like they were dramatic about bringing there daughter in she looked about 3 years old they just wanted a peace of mind so they could sleep! They said their daughters breathing and was fine and the doctor won’t see them and to go home! To drink water and that she’s fine! How rude i feel sorry for these people! No matter the situation you don’t treat people like that at all! They were a nice family! But the triage nurse was growling them like there was no point bringing there daughter in

This is the worse emergency place in the world. They do not care about people's safety and do not have any process for seeing people. Everyone waits for a triage nurse who priorities her own national. Kids are left waiting for 2 hours just to see one triage nurse. It is getting very very dangerous. Staff members are all over the place running around leaving people they are seeing in the middle to sort out the process. This place is very unprofessional.

Absolutely not happy with my visit today, I waited over two hours to be seen by Dr Daniel Lee. He spent 5seconds pressing on my stomach and told me to stay hydrated. He didn’t ask me any further questions so I tried to explain more of what I was experiencing only for him to say he doesn’t know what that is and left it at that. I tried to see another doctor for a second opinion and was told I would have to pay for both consultations even though my first consult was unsatisfactory. I am very upset and feel like I was just pushed out, then still had to pay $95 after expressing my concerns. I get that places like these can get very busy and you’re just trying to get through your list but every patient should leave feeling looked after and seen.

Absolutely disgusted. Still had an hour to closing and told me the line was closed and to take my child to Middlemore Hospital. So you want me to clog up an already clogged up hospital for what? Something that could be looked at in 5 minutes? This is a joke. Even before Covid the wait times for this place was ridiculous. The only place left that was open 24hours and you guys took that away in the middle of a flaming pandemic! You can't get into see normal GP because they are always booked out and yet when something gets worse you can't even go to the A&E without being turned away. You'd think with how hard the hospitals are having it you would stay open 24 hours to help out.

Extremly terrible service. Bring a hot chocolate, blanket and a movie because expect to wait hours even if you are a priority for a head injury. Bad communication between nurses, we were told we were next, 2 hours later the reception said she dosnt know why we were told we were next or prioritised cause we wernt... This review follows by the last 4 terrible experiences we have had here, plus my parents 2 visits with their baby. All bad. Best to find somewhere else that actually cares or actually has more than 1 doctor and nurses who can communicate with each other. 2 hours later, we have been referred for an emergency visit to the hospital... dont bother visiting.

The only reason I gave 3 stars is because the nurses were amazing. We came in Friday night to get my son looked at. We got seen by a Dr Wong and a few mins before entering into the Doctors room, my husband had mentioned I hope we don’t see this Asian female doctor and I said why and he said it’s awkward as she doesn’t seem to know what she’s doing 😳 I was shocked and asked what do you mean she’s a doctor and he says if she sees us then you will understand. Well he was right and there was a lot that happened in that room which was very awkward including google searching in front of us, not sure if this common for Doctors but I had never witnessed it before. Then the one that really stood out was are you guys islanders ? I said yes and goes on google search proceeds to say because he is an islander and of his age he may have rheumatic fever, and that he would need to take a mouth swab, explains a few other things but to be honest after bringing up the race topic I was truly uncomfortable 😣. I kept wondering how long has this lady been doing this job and does she understand what her job is, I think the icing on the cake when she asks me at the end what I think about her diagnosis and I almost said I’m here to get a confident answer about my son and yet your asking my opinion 😳 I just said we trust you as you are the Doctor but the honest truth was I didn’t truly trust her after how she dealt with us. We left got our mouth swab again with another amazing nurse. Then went to the pharmacy right next door. The pharmacist calls me and asks me about the antibiotics and I answered her and she told me oh well it doesn’t seem she prescribed the right amount 🤦🏽‍♀️ this again proves my point just imagine if we went to another pharmacy then what was going to happen I go all the way back to get the dosage sorted like no thank who will compensate me for my fuel for an error made by an inexperienced Doctor. The pharmacist went back to the Doctor to get it sorted and returned with right dosage. I write this review because I would like Dr Wong to be told that she needs to firstly maybe learn some people skills and also maybe sharpen her Doctor skills as well because this is real life and peoples lives literally hang from critical decisions you make. I hope she will improve on this because right now this is just not good enough.

Absolute horror. I came in with my 7 month baby around 7 triaged by 8pm and put in a room to await dr as baby was having fevers, cough and laboured breathing. Went into room at 8 and were not seen til 10:15pm when the triage nurse saw me pacing the corridor as baby was getting upset and was surprised that we had not been seen yet.. miraculously 10 min later we were then seen by a dr. I understand there are priorities but we were CLEARLY forgotten in that room and that is absolutely unacceptable when things change so quickly with babies. I will be taking this matter further as there needs better communication and oversight. Your reception staff are appalling in their blatant disregard to patients( l could hear them talking about me after l came to check when we would be seen once baby got distressed). Absolute disgrace that you call yourselves health professionals. I will gladly give my details for this to be followed up. This has really left a sour taste in my mouth you all need to do better. Update: 2 months later and no one has responded to any of my queries, even after filling out patient surgery with my details.. that should tell you a lot about this place.

Girlfriend had a really bad flu for multiple days, so went in n told the triage nurse all symptoms. She couldn’t even speak and almost have every single symptom possible, worse being nausea muscle pain light headed and vomiting. Yet many many people are placed in front of us. We waited for 4 hours and politely asked the receptionist how long left would we have to wait, she said around 4 more patients before me, however her fit up attitude made me back into my seat. Sat for another 2 hours… I’ve had a terrible experience here, east Auckland needs another medical centre.

Went into the hospital for a hand injury. There was a long wait time to see care (roughly 4 hours) just for the doctor to say I needed to strengthen my hand by doing simple movements/exercises at home. The medical bill was 100$. I am displeased with the service given to YOUR patients. Just an update 4 weeks later. My wrist still hasn’t healed it. Forgot to mention in the first paragraph, the doctors didn’t even bother touching my hand. The wrist movements they told me to do clearly didn’t help either because there is still minor swelling and pain. Definitely do not recommend going here. Unprofessional doctors.

They need to improve receptionist service level and nurse also needs to improve their attitude and professionalism. I understand this is a busy emergency care. They are so many people when I came. But it shouldn’t be an excuse to have bad attitude and impatient. It’s way below average level of NZ care.

Referred to Manukau East Care Thursday 26th April for a 9.30am appointment. Arrived at the incorrect end of the Clinic only to be told that the Manukau Specialist team were at the other side of the building. Upon entering the correct department I duly waited in line at the reception area where quite a few other patients were being tended too. I was then attended to by the receptionist that recorded my attendance at 9.39am. Unfortunately for me, without any EXPLANATION I was kept waiting in the reception area for ONE & A HALF HOURS. A nurse called me in to have my Blood Pressure & Weight taken before I was called into see a doctor, she, the nurse claimed that she took my statistics at 9.39am the same time as I was supposed to have signed in, which was absolutely NOT true! I approached the Reception area twice to see when I would be able to see a doctor & was told soon, very soon! This of course never happened. When I was called into see the doctor the poor doctor asked how I was? Well that was the wrong question to ask of me at that stage ... I replied that the appointment I was referred to as far as I was concerned was cancelled & that I would definitely be forwarding a MAJOR COMPLAINT about this unforgivable treatment to Management or other. The Nurse tried to make all the excuses in the world that bothered me even more as at that stage I felt very prejudiced by her in my own country, unbelievable?

I would have given (-5) if possible for everything, they need to change the name from urgent care to “it depends on there mood” care. I’ve been there few times even with one or two patients in waiting area or even large number of people, they will see you when they want . Same waiting time with less people or with more people. If you call them 7 pm and they don't book you in as they say they have to leave exact at 11pm. So why call it urgent care!! I guess it rather should be general medical store. And also should be closed for holidays as well because doesn’t make much difference

If you have an injury don’t bother. We arrived at 8pm, they said that they have closed the queue but they will triage us and redirect to a practitioner somewhere else. My daughter smashed her fingers with a door, clearly she needed X-ray. After waiting 2 hours for the triage nurse that didn’t even touch her hand the only we were given was the option to call a doctor and come back the next day. I would expect them to be honest and send me straight to the hospital. We loose 2 hours that could be invested waiting in the hospital instead. 5 minutes in Middlemore and a nurse checked on her, gave her some pain relief and put us on the X-ray queue. Thankful she is under 13 and ACC and I didn’t have to pay anything.

I took my son who is with high fever waiting for 3 hours and saw 2 people skipped the queue in from of us. Actually I just went to check with the receptionist if my son would be the next patient after the first person who came later than us being called in. When the second later patient got called in ahead of us I went to the same receptionist to check and she said she didn’t see me. Ridiculous! Every one is crowed in the same space and I even hold my need for toilet. I have been to this places for 3 times through 6 years, every time I had terrible experiences. With only one option available at night time, I was angry and hopeless!

Husband and I went in a week ago with hand injuries due to snow mobiling accident, with GP referral.. The first visit was a bit scary as we had not need any medical care services for a long long long time. Once we got the initial registration completed and an appointment with the fracture clinic, things moved quickly. We would like to offer our sincere gratitude to the staff at the reception, all the nurses (especially Sharon who did a fantastic sling, and her calm caring professional and friendly manner) , the doctors (Dr Woodward and Dr Bentley). To the nurses and all the staff , we wish we could recall all your names and thank you personally. You all deserve respect and credit for the difficult job you do every single day. Thank you, Eastcare.

We spent an hour at another urgent care centre and watched the radiologist leave early, despite knowing that we were there for an xray. So we left and checked the Emergency Q app for other options. It had 3 suggestions including a 5 hour wait at Middlemore, but we chose the East Care option. We were seen immediately, had the xray quickly and were home within 2 hours. The triage nurse, receptionists, xray staff, doctor (especially the doctor) and treating nurse were all fantastic, given it was a busy Saturday evening. If we ever need urgent care again, I'll remember to go to East Care first.

I don’t quite understand the level of hate this place gets in the reviews but this place was a lifesaver for me on a Friday night. Yes there is some wait time which could be annoying if you’re sick but I believe that’s just the case with healthcare in NZ in general. All the staff including receptionist, nurses and doctors were respectful and caring.

I had the most awful and embarrassing experience. I had various symptoms from kidney pains, ulcers and abdominal aches and Dr Forbes diagnosed this was constipation. It’s absurd that i would go to the doctors if this was the issue. The doctor did not try to understand or sympathise as i explained my condition and was insistent that this was the issue. To make matters worse, they charged $110 and the treatment was to just eat kiwifruit. On a positive note the nurse was amazing in her ability to show sympathy and understanding.

Came with my little one at around 10:25 pm. With 30 mins plus left till closing time. But triage nurse told that they are closed as they have 2 patients in waiting and just one doctor. If the triage nurse went to say this after making preliminary exam and ensuring the baby is safe to go to anoyher hospital then I wouldn't be frustrated. I understand that you guys want to close at sharp 11 pm. No problem. In that case you have to change the times in the website that 10:30pm you are closed for new patients. Facility closes at 11 pm. Many people come there wasting time, only to understand that they can't be seen.

Have visited East Care multiple times, however it has to be the worst A&E I've been to in Auckland. Extremely long wait times, lack of care when finally seen by the doctor/nurses. Would rather take a longer drive to another A&E for better quality care.

Didn’t want to believe the reviews but they are truly utterly useless and disregard for people’s times. I told my hubby that this place had lots of one star reviews for a reason. He waited for hours to be be told no one booked him in. No told him to do anything except for “take a seat”. He has a splitting headache and cannot take any more medication for it. Honestly I know the excuse of short staffed but if you’re at reception and you aren’t doing much, you should spend the time checking in that everybody is okay. That’s what I did when I worked at reception. Common sense please.

Very impressed with our experience at the after hours urgent care last week Wednesday. All staff we came into contact with, from reception, to the nurse, doctor and pharmacist were all very attentive and caring. The wait time was reasonable, considering the time of year and I believe this is credit to their great systems they have in place. I have to say a big thank you to the pharmacist - once we had finished with the doctor the pharmacy had closed. However, we happened to come accross the pharmacist himself on the way out and we sparked up a conversation, upon finding out we had just missed their closing time, without hesitation he offered to head back in and organise the medication we needed for my daughter.. This really topped off our experience and I am so grateful to everyone there. I would definitely recommend and despite the 50 minute drive, we will be coming back in future. Thank you!

This clinic was the worst experience I've had in the past 10 years. I went there due to a neck injury, and the doctor's examination was quite rough, potentially worsening my condition. Additionally, the staff checked my personal details twice, once at the reception desk and again with the nurse, which seemed redundant and time-consuming. The entire process took six hours to complete, with 5.5 hours spent waiting without any updates or progress. This long waiting time was exhausting and frustrating, making the overall experience highly unsatisfactory. DO NOT GO TO THIS CLINIC!

I was here yesterday due to a condition that would require urgent check-up and from the time I walked in, I was greeted by the triage nurse and got all the information from me. It was before 8am when I came and I was feeling worried but she made me feel at ease. Actually, everyone did. It took less than an hour for me to be seen by a nurse to get further details. Probably another 20mins to be seen by Dr Lorraine who is a lovely doctor. I would say despite all the negative reviews posted here, they are quite good and competent. Working in healthcare is not easy. It requires thorough triaging and screening from staff. I was happy with my experience. Thank you East care.

I had an accident involving a chainsaw and my leg. Dr Daniel did an excellent job of the stitches. Wait time was better than going to Auckland Hospital. Very professional service. The only minor complaint is that the noise in the waiting room of people just trying to talk to each other and the glass panels at reception make it really hard to hear each other. I suggest getting a speaker system installed between patient and reception the same as Auckland hospital has and some sound deadening applied to the ceiling to stop the echoes and general noise.

IF YOU’RE ABLE TO GO SOMEPLACE ELSE - DO SO!! Waiting 4 hours for a pee test (Pee sample they told me to come back and re-do) and still didn’t get seen is atrocious! And I bet they would still charge me $160 for it as well. Not recommended!

Had very bad experience in this clinic yesterday. We went around 7:30pm here and as my younger sister had very high fever and flu as well as she was suffering from breathing difficulties . But when we reached there front desk staff said they are closed but there opening hours are on website as well as on the site says 7am to 11pm . I explained her all the situation about my sister’s condition but still they denied to see her even once so we had came back from there without any help and medication.this is just a ridiculous if they are not going to take care of public then who is . If something serious happens to a patient then who is the responsible?

Some of the nurses there need an attitude check. Yes it can be busy and stressful, but if you are being paid to do a job you need to do it properly. If you can't be bothered looking after patients dont work in the health care profession. Next time I will name the exact nurses and make a formal complaint about their attitude/behaviour and performance. For context this was for a visit last night (6 August 2023) for my child that was in sever pain. He was not looked after at all. I would give zero stars if I could.

  • 1/5 Nathaniel V. 8 months ago on Google
Everyone there was pissed as the doctors picked every late patient as more urgent. Most of us are more than 6 to 8 hours there. They were also rude, even the receptionist and the nurse. They also threatened the other patient in pain to stay quiet or else they would call police. The end was that they only suggested going to GP even though we went in for Emergency Care. Will never go back and will not recommend it.

The nurses and GPs here were an absolute godsend for me recently when I came in! It was so much faster and nicer than waiting at Middlemore and I really appreciated that the doctor I saw even followed up with me later to make sure I’d gotten my test results. Keep up the awesome job team ❤️

I came in yesterday and am really glad that I did. The ladies at the front were clearly run off their feet and exhausted, but still provided a prompt and professional service. I happily popped myself in the corner in the side room which I felt was much more comfortable than the main waiting room so I felt more settled and less anxious. The nurse was lovely and helped me as much as she could (big thank you to her, I can’t remember her name sorry). Then I saw Dr J Park who is an absolute gem. She was so kind and caring, and helped ease my anxiety about a (what I thought was a scary) procedure that needed to be done. I couldn’t have gone through with it if it wasn’t for her. I felt that everyone was seen in a timely manner, and everyone on shift continued their work with a smile and with care. There was a male staff with tattoos who was incredibly caring towards his patients and they had a big grin because of his care. I saw staff members coming to patients because they felt uncomfortable yelling at them over the desk, or wanted to ensure their situation was handled discreetly. The ladies at the pharmacy were also kind and caring. I feel my experience deserves 5 stars, so thank you to everyone on shift yesterday for your kindness, care, empathy and professionalism.

I came around 12am on Saturday I had a problem with my face, started swelling up unnaturally on the right side of the face. I ended up waiting till 3pm to receive painkillers from a nurse and then waited until 6 to be seen by a doctor. Recieptionists were lovely and so was the nurse. I'm not even mad that I had to wait long. The only part that made it bad was my wait was for nothing. When I go in to see Dr P Vembudayan he cracked a couple jokes, prescribed me some antibiotics and told me to see my GP on Monday. Not only that but he didn't diagnose me as he didn't know what was wrong. I paid a $115 consultation for waiting 6 hours to be told to see my GP (on top of fees for medication). This review is for paying customers to see before they visit A&E on 260 Botany Rd. Just remember middle more isn't far.

They don’t prioritise infants. Waited 4 hours to be seen with an infant. There no exceptions but we all know babies can deteriorate in health faster than adults. It’s important to try and assist parents and not to have crying babies in the wait room for hours. However the amazing nurse Venitia and doctor were so attentive and helpful even came back to give us more information. Thank you Dr Kukanesen!!

I went to Eastcare a couple of weeks ago, suffering from a debilitating migraine. I couldn't see or move without nausea (they put me in a wheelchair). I ended up throwing up after I arrived. They put me in a dark room instead of the waiting room, which I appreciated. They tried to see me sooner than the usual long wait, although it wasn't instantaneous, which I understood. They were quite concerned about my state as I was pretty incapacitated. Anyway, they gave me two injections and it cured my migraine. I have never experienced anything quite like it. In real time, I experienced the pain and nausea fade, as well as my vision return. I had thought I was in an incredibly dark room, but the room was still quite bright with the lights turned off. I had just been unable to see properly, due to the migraine. The doctor prescribed me medication (same thing as what was in the injections) for a few days following, and I am going to inquire with my GP about getting the at-home injections (didn't know about them at the time - perhaps your doctor could recommend them to patients, as if they could have prescribed those, that would save me a future GP trip. It cost over $100 all up, but I was so sick it was a bullet I was willing to bite. I really appreciate how you helped me when I was so sick with that migraine. I remember telling hubby that I think I would prefer to d** instead of suffer this migraine (don't worry, it was dark humour), so the doctor being able to make it go away after the injections... I was so relieved. To other migraine sufferers, I think the injections took about 20 min to fully have effect. So yeah, expensive, but pretty vital at the time as I was incapacitated.
