Real Groovy has lots of hard-to-find disc collections. They have a storage area where you may leave your bag. My partner and I were stopped by a staff at entrance and were told to leave our bags at the storage area, which is understandable. However, they did not tell other (non-Asian) customers to leave their bags. Therefore, I feel disheartening with the double standard that I experienced. It is a fine policy, but when it only impose to a certain group of people and not others, this is when segregation is felt. The storage area only has our bags, it is very empty. I hope the policy is applicable to all individuals with bag pack the next time I visit the store.

I hope you can survive lots of memories in the past After a year this enterprise has moved and moved and moved. It has become smaller and smaller. CDs nobody buys now, concert tickets now all online. I can’t think of any reason that this enterprise will survive in the next 10 years… so sad to see you go. All the best before countdown take over

I have been a customer with Real Groovy for more than 20 years and have seen them in various locations around upper Queen Street over the years. Visiting for the first time this year (2023) and since they moved to the new location (well advertised) I was happy to see a familiar sign missing for many year; the Neon Real Groovy sign. Heading up the escalator I was greeted my more Neon and possibly the best layout yet (for Real Groovy) that I've seen up to now. A staff member greeted me and directed me to the trade in counter, and I quickly found myself flicking through the records. Trade In voucher was handy to help pay for the gems I'd picked up. Great new location and the staff are as passionate about Music now as they were when I first visited all those years ago. Keep it up gang.

Fantastic selection of CDs & DVDs all for a great price too. Staff are very helpful and friendly and posters are incredible quality. I come in almost every Friday for a browse and come out ecstatic with my purchase 🧡

Awesome experience - Huge collection of DVDs and music records. Also, a truly unique collection of collectibles, books, stationary, etc. DVDs: They have a huge sale going on movie/TV DVDs with prices ranging from NZD 4-10/ DVD. Almost all the titles are divided genre wise and even then it would take hours to just surf them all - that's the size of their collection. Books: They are no Crossword or Whitcoulls when it comes to their collection of books in terms of size but in terms of uniqueness they're pretty much ahead of the two. If you're looking for a popular book from a popular author, you might not find it here, but what you will find here, you will find nowhere even on popular topics/ franchises/ novels etc.

This place is Pure Nostalgia, i can't imagine any other shop that let's you relive your years of listening to Incredible music. Problem is no matter where you look or turn there is always something else you feel the urge to buy. Even Hi-Fi systems to enjoy your Vinyl and the staff are Extremely Knowledgeable. Top of Queen St in Auckland City its worth the time to stop in.

The staff here are super friendly and helpful and there is a whole range of interesting stuff to shop... toys, clothing, books, and if course the music 🎶 Great for gifts. Sign up to the club and get rewarded for spending. They also source things from overseas providers that you can order online.

I just received my order. Really fast, well packed. The vinyl I purchased were in great condition. So happy. I will definitely order again as I rebuild my record collection (frustrating as I used to own most of these back in the day 😏).

Arrived 10 minutes before closing (only to pick up an online order), as we're going up the stairs we encounter the pictured man who says Real Groovy has closed already. My husband asks politely why they have closed as they should be open another 10 minutes. This man starts to verbally abuse my husband calling him a F--wit, F- this, F-that - when he is carrying my TWO YEAR OLD CHILD!!! Real Groovy, do you know that your employees are closing up 10 minutes early AND abusing your customers?! This man FOLLOWED US several blocks down the street abusing my husband (still carrying our 2 year old)!!! Real Groovy, YOU NEED TO FIRE THIS MAN! It is scary. You can't have someone like this working at your shop. I have bought quite a lot of music at Real Groovy, but will not go back while this man is employed there.

Has a great time browsing through the shelves here, there's a huge selection of music and merch to check out. My favourite was the huge K-Pop wall! And looks like the online site ships all over NZ too, so I'll be shopping here more in future!

I had placed an order for a product on the phone to be picked up, my mom went into store to pick it up for me and when she went in, the staff had no clue about what she was saying. My mom showed a picture of the album ( Red Velvet Birthday Cake ver.) She was told this was not a cake shop very rudely by staff, my mom is aware that the Real Groovy is in-fact not a cake shop but an album shop. The staff had no clue what she was after even though the product is displayed on their website so she asked them to look for the product I had called them in advance for, eventually they found what they put under my name and the product that was reserved was not even the product I had asked for. So the person who took my phone call to the people in store had 0 customer service and absolutely no product knowledge.

Awesome new big store with so many records to choose from. Great selection! We went to look at a project record player and there weren't many on display but only because they had just moved stores two weeks ago. Look forward to returning soon and seeing the new display.

I mainly deal with Real Groovy online currently & are yet to visit their new store. However, having been a customer for more decades than I care to remember, I have visited their previous locations on many occasions & it was always a great experience. We are fortunate to have several other great record stores across the country, but no one else has the range or experience of Groovy. Due to this experience, the pricing of second-hand items is correct for the New Zealand market & gradings are generally fair & consistent. There will always be the occasional issue when purchasing used vinyl. However, any I've had with Groovy purchases (very few over hundreds of purchases) have been promptly & fairly dealt with. Online orders are always packaged well, sent promptly & the partnership with New Zealand Post works great for me. A great Kiwi icon!

Been here a few times now and this place is mad cool, large range of vinyls, CDs, board games, novelty gifts, merch, record testing players and friendly staff. Super great place! You guys should stock more Joji stuff though

An absolute treasure trove of new and used records, CDs and DVDs - along with band tshirts and some fun novelty items. Can (and did) spends hours digging through to find some real gems. One star off for putting Crowded House in the New Zealand section.

A long standing ICON of Auckland!!!! New location, easy car parking across the road. Extremely knowledgeable staff, they absolutely know their stuff. And have enjoyed our membership rewards over and over. Online or in-store, they are real groovy!!

A top record shop in a great location. Roomy with an excellent choice for popular and alternative music tastes. Fun gifts and an interesting book and socks selection. Turntables are easy to view. Knowledgeable staff, and security at the door is a necessity.

Love all the neon signs in store & great range of vinyls. It’s a bit disappointing when ordering online - my item said it was in stock, yet they had to order another copy in, which hasn’t arrived yet. Clearly the stock wasn’t up to date, it’s just super disappointing when I needed it by a certain date as it’s a gift. Update: I can now see the vinyl is available for purchase online again, yet my copy still hasn’t been sent. Yes, I did check the shipping estimate before buying the gift which was well out of time frame & you couldn’t even tell me when the vinyl would arrive when contacting me by email.

They have some cool stuff but this is one of the most expensive record stores I've ever been to. Your better off to order newer stuff online honestly.

I placed an order on Tuesday for a gift on Tuesday the following week. Took over a week to be delivered. From Auckland to Auckland. You guys need to step up your customer service, now I need to find a last minute gift. Might as well just go and pick it up. Poor experience to be honest

Purchased a turntable system. Not cheep. Got it home and no speaker cables after I specifically asked if it came with them rang the store and they said to come and collect aome. Went to the store and they offered cable so short you would need to sit the speakers on top of each other thanks though to Henry for arranging longer cables .

So, I went to Real Groovy for the first time recently, and let me tell you, it was one of the best stores I've ever been in. The space is enormous, with a vast collection of albums and other cool stuff. The staff is extremely nice and approachable, which made my time there even better. Real Groovy is the place to go, and I heartily urge anyone to visit there!! (´▿`)

Good friendly service. Good patient staff that helped, and ordered in those "hard to get" CD's. CD's and LP's are still way better sound quality than streaming!

Great to see this awesome record shop survived a turbulent time through the last 15 years. I have been buying vinyl here since I moved to Auckland quite a few years ago. Great customer service, friendly shop, reasonable prices.

This is a nice place with a lot of interesting/unique products. As a massive Beatles fan, I picked up a couple LPs to add to my collection. My only issue was that the Magical Mystery Tour record sleeve was a little ragged on one edge, but honestly it's not a big deal and I should have been more careful and checked before purchasing. Anyway, they have a great selection of vinyl, books, gifts, and other assorted items and I would definitely go again!

Literally the best place to get Taylor Swift CDs and vinyls. I will definitely be going back. Because I can’t get enough of her music!!! Bought 1989 Taylor’s Version for my collection and will definitely be getting her other albums too.
