Nice comedy theater with cheap parking right outside. There is a bar and you’re allowed to bring your drink into the theater, but the bar staff weren’t very friendly, I felt I was bothering them terribly just by buying a beer, and I didn’t even ask a single question.

A nice small theatre. The studio is tiny, and tend to be quite hot even on winter. Paid parking are a hit and miss depending on the day. The entrance is quite tricky to find as it's not the the main road, but at the back of the building instead. The lounge has an interesting decor and friendly bartender. The ticket locket is like a pigeon hole next to the door to the studio/stage.

The Wedding - Return Season at the Basement Theatre - Opening night was electric, explosive, action packed & full of surprises. LAUGH OUT LOUD was the order of the night - non stop. (We hope no birds were harmed in the production - but cant guarantee it) Opening night was full to the brim - and without a doubt the best show we've seen in a while. BOOK NOW - DONT MISS IT Final night Saturday 18th

We went in to watch Bull Rush and i had so much fun! The concept of pay as much as you want is also great as it allows so many people to experience a one hour fun show, all improvised! Definitely recommend going at least once to experience improv theatre

It's always an enjoyable experience attending a play at the Basement Theatre. Love the coziness of the space and the variety of play they offer.

The show was great as was the show area, but the small bar area and outside area was really bad for my claustrophia/social anxiety before and after the show. Also they didn't have pineapple juice 😕

Kiwi improv, by kiwis for kiwis. A unique sense of humor. Basement is a gem that provides a unique venue, which seeks to enhance the atmosphere and performance.

My first experience of amateur theatre in a tight intimate setting. Everyone was polite to the performers and rapt with the performance. I will definitely be coming back for other performances. Its great being so close to the act.

Love the inner city vibe. Always the best venue for fringe theatre. Most of all the intimacy shared with the actors in the smaller theatres makes the whole experience that much more real.

We love live reel! Great for a weeknight out with a group of friends. Definitely book in advance as the venue is quite small so seats are limited.

The staff? Perfect. The shows? Amazing. The drinks, the atmosphere and the location? Top notch. One of my top ten places in Tāmaki Makaurau. Also I saw a ghost in the studio theatre and now I'm cursed but in a good way.

Excellent performances from talented local artists, the magnificent theatre and casual bar are perfect for all of your evening entertainment needs. Offers a yearly subscription for attending multiple shows a year and creates a community out of its audiences. A must-go for the true Auckland Central experience.

Small but cute theatre. Have been to both the upstairs and downstairs theatres and they both have a good vibe. Upstairs is by far smaller and looks like a half converted loft space (which I guess it is). Bar is cool with an outside food trailer usually there to cater snacks. We were there to see Brendan Green (and guests) last time which was awesome :)

Oh Basement! You will forever and ever have my heart. The transformation this space has had in recent years.... WOW. Basement is like no other space in Tāmaki. Protect this space at all costs.

Relaxed, creative space. Staff are masked, welcoming, and atrentive. They ask for audience to respect actors by masking but... the performers' health has overwhelmingly not been an audience concern on occasions I attended.
