Whammy Bar

Live music venue

🫤 Some of my fondest memories were at Whammy, lovely staff and atmosphere. Unfortunetly Whammy has taken it upon themselves to impose nonsensical and discriminatory vaccine passes which belong in the dustbin of history by now. I don't think I'll ever go back there again (it's not like a have a choice)... People often mention venue, great, staff, music, Great,

This venue is an icon in the Auckland non-mainstream scene. Long ago is was a nightclub called Calibre but is now a venue hosting all sorts of events from live rock bands to underground techno. Being below ground level is has that dark, secretive feel which all the best music venues have.

Brilliant venue that likes to keep people safe rather than acting like conspiracy theorists. Science denial is not punk rock or anti establishment, it's just hippy dippy trendy make believe for sheeple. Go Wammy Bar, you rock hard!

This place is great! There's nothing more punk than standing up for people who don't have a voice, like our immunocompromised and disabled community! One of my favourite spots for gigs. You know they're the real deal.

my favourite place to listen to music and pass out from how hot it is but will always be my favourite place especially since i can go there while not being worried i will be standing near someone who hasn’t been vaccinated :)

Such a great bar- always has been. They have the best gigs and I’m so into the fact that they are still using vaccine passes- as an immunocompromised person this makes me feel a lot safer, so thank you.

Best place... fabulous vibe and fa bulous bar people including my daughter Ella so I'm very glad the vaccine passes are still required to get into this often packed venue. It will mean she and everyone who works there will be safer.

Thanks for trying to keep us all safe - massive respect for listening to the science. Whammy is an asset to Auckland and an important part of our music scene. A shame about your silly landlord :)

Awesome venue. Great staff. Always have a range of gigs and support of local artists. Love the fact they are keeping us all safe with their COVID response. Great work team.

The best events are held here! Always check out what's on 😉 from d'nb to tech-house, this place has got it going on. I definitely recommend MORNING PEOPLE every Wed 6:30am - will give you the boost you need for a good day of work ahead. Also the crowd here are the best 👌🏽

Friendly staff and great small venue, pretty expensive bar but that's seemingly normal nowadays.

My girlfriend got insulted at the entrance by the bouncer and his mate, really inappropriate behaviour by them. That happened around 12:00am Friday night. Check cameras and take some action about this.

Absolutely incredible venue, travelled over from Aus for a concert and decided to also check out the local bar. Got to experiance an awesome gig from Disentomb, Organectomy, Hysterectomy and Parasitic Infestation.

Gotta be the best gig venue in Auckland. Great location, great staff, great sound, great drink selection. A fan of the booths at the back too, great for hanging out with a drink before a show.

👍 Home away from home in the heart of the city - the staff are SO lovely, the NZ cider is dry and tasty, the Guinness is good, and they have a pool table! The music is perfect. Sure it's a bit pokey but the people make up for it. I'm a big fan of the outdoor bench. Long live Father Ted's and don't for...
