Possibly the best cocktails on Ponsonby road in the coolest little bar. Slick & professional service from a team with outstanding product knowledge. Sit at the bar and you can watch the pros at work, they will happily talk to you about different drinks, how they are made and even a story or two to keep you entertained. Let the bartender lead you to try some new flavours and styles of cocktails. Great table out front as well for some always entertaining people watching.

What can I say about this place? Perhaps if the owner didn’t treat staff and customers so poorly it would be a far better place. He is horrible to his staff, the way he speaks to them, his whole demeanour is off! He is incredibly rude and obnoxious! He lies about tables being “booked”. Shoves people wherever he pleases. Reading some of the other 1-2 star reviews I can see where they are coming from. It is such a shame as the guys behind the bar are awesome.

What a lovely find this was. Wait staff were fantastic, drinks on point and they have this weekly(?) Batch drink they make which is never repeated, we got a small sampler on arriving and it was so good we both ordered a full. It's a nice touch that I haven't seen done before. I will be back for sure.

I've been here three times and wouldn't recommend. The first was a good experience and we had good service. The food and cocktails were nice. The second time was with a group to grab a drink before a birthday dinner. The guy who sat us berated us for not making a booking, made snide little remarks, uncomfortable for all of us but we just laughed it off, maybe he had just had a bad day. We were then looked after by a different person who was lovely and did enjoy our drinks. Third time, same rude waiter, noisy bar. Him and my friend both misheard each other, but instead of just clarifying he was super snotty, asked her to repeat herself just to respond with 'are you girls ok' while looking down his nose at us. The question itself is fine, though we hadn't had anything to drink that night we understand that you need to be serving alcohol responsibly, we were really taken aback by how awful and patronizing the entire interaction was. We were so uncomfortable by how we were treated we walked out without looking at the menu. So yes, the drinks are ok and it's a cute little spot but I regret giving it another go after my first bad experience. No drink is good enough to be paying for eye rolling and condescension - go at your own risk.

One of the best, most intimate, friendly cocktail service you'll find in NZ. Ask for the Green Beret and you'll not be disappointed. If they say they don't have it on the menu, say I recommended it.

This place is by far my favorite cocktail bar in Auckland and one of the best Iv been to even comparing to New York. Awesome owner and beautiful atmosphere. Highly recommend anyone stopping in and getting one of the best cocktails they have ever had. Keep up the great work guys!

A great little quiet cocktail bar and a destination for those that appreciate quality vibe. A bartender-owner means that the drink selection is well curated and ever changing. If you like a specific cocktail on offer you can go a step further and order them in bottled form for an event or your own enjoyment.

Popped into Clipper after having dinner out in ponsonby and what a fab little spot. Intimate enough to have a good vibe but not so much that you feel like you can hear the people next to your conversation. The cocktails were delish - such well balanced flavours and beautifully presented and the service was so fab! Being from the UK originally I really do miss that banter and some good chat from the service staff which is exactly what you get here and has definitely been a key decision maker in wanting to return.

Loved it!! Bartender was really knowledgeable and the welcome (mini glass) drink of their new creation was delish. Think Heston Blumenthal with their drink creativity. Mind was BLOWN.

Epic cocktails, served up quick and with style. I’ve visited some great bars around the world, Clipper is right up there! We’re truly lucky to have a bar of Clipper’s calibre in Auckland! The Bangers Board is always a good shout for something new and fresh.

Incredible cocktails and the best Irish/British hospitality. Really shocked and some of the reviews i have just read about the service - don't go here if you don't have a sense of humor, absolutely go here if you like a quality cocktail and a bit of Craic (aka you're able to have a lol). Already looking forward to returning to try some more drinks.

Had such an incredible and memorable night here tonight! The place was such a vibe (great date spot), good tunes and super cute/sophisticated atmosphere. Bar staff were sooo friendly it made the night that much better. Cocktails were delicious and so beautifully presented. Food was very nice too. Will definitely be going back again!!!

Extremely rude - obviously completely unaware of the definition of “hospitality”. As soon as our group of 4 walked in we were made to feel unwelcome. There was no one else in the bar - not surprised.

Stopped for a pre dinner cocktail and wish we had longer - friendly staff, amazing menu and delicious drinks!

Well this is my new favorite bar in Ponsonby. Delicious drinks aside, I've never seen such an engaging and enthusiastic owner. We were very well taken care of and I would go back just for customer service alone. Thanks Clipper!

Horrible service! The second I walked in the door the man serving was patronizing and rude, so I left with my friend without buying a thing. Almost ruined my night if it was for the great service we had at Beaus wine bar, its on the same street, highly recommend going there instead if you're after a good night!

Yum cocktails but bit pricy, not good customer service. Buildings 2 square foot and yet somehow ignored 10 of us for 30mins. Overall experience wasnt great
