I've been a registered patient for almost 5 years. The management of registered patients vs A&E drop ins is very poor. Each time I make an appointment I still end up waiting for almost an hour past the appt time. It's worse now with the covid screening at the entrance. My daughter had an appt to check her for asthma...an issue she has had years before covid and then we get told to wait in the car and a doctor will call us to let us know if it's ok to be seen. So in the queue we went with all the A&E drop ins ... and once again way past the appt we had booked. This medical centre shouldn't offer a GP service for registered patients as they are unable to balance the workload.

The most useless emergency centre I’ve ever been to. Absolutely not a single care about the patient or their pain level. My son had fallen straight on his face and broke a tooth, he was in severe pain yet the receptionist didn’t even ask why we were there, when I was told to take a seat I asked if they even need to know why I’m here she said oh it’s fine you can let the nurse know! To see a child in pain and show no care to me is super disgusting! I would never recommend this emergency to anyone!!

I’d like to say HUGE thank you to everyone who works in this medical centre! Absolutely all staff members (receptionist, nurses, doctors) were very kind and professional! You are doing a great job, thanks to all of you one more time!

This is our preferred place if we don't have our GP available for appointment. Although its slightly far, we have always had a good experience. This time was no different. I hadn't recovered from flu-like symptoms for 4 days and coughed up some blood in the phlegm. With reports of COVID in the air, I thought it best to see a doc. Estimated wait time at the center was 30-45 mins but it was my lucky day and my number came up within 5 mins! The doc heard my case, checked my lungs and gave an all clear. He found my throat to be affected though. Explaining how this could be a bacterial infection but there's no way to know at this stage, he prescribed antibiotics with clear instruction on if, when and how to take them, also explaining why it'll be no use if it is a viral infection (like all GPs dutifully do). He even explained the possible cause of the blood in the phlegm. He also offered and handed me a medical cert, in case I needed it for work…. and poof!!...in about 2 mins, I was out the door and I kid you not, I was feeling fresh as a flower. I only paid $30 of the total $130 because I pay around $3500 annually for family medical insurance. So between the 4 family members, all we have to do is to fall sick about 26.9 times a year and the thing pays for itself. Miracle workers, these guys; I can't wait to be back. Maybe it's time for some paracetamol!

I have been attending this clinic for past week for dressings & have twice witnessed some rude & disgusting behaviour by others in the waiting room! I have had excellent care provided by staff here & surely if it’s busy it means it’s a good place to be??? It is a sad day when as a patient you start to wonder if security is needed at the front door of your local Medical centre!! The staff who handled the guy yelling at reception did so in a caring & professional manner so thankyou !

Went to see them today and the nurse told my wife she should cancel her appointments for the day after as she her case seemed not urgent at all as it was just a cough. She has not slept for three days. Turned out she has bronchitis after being seen by Dr. Jim who is very accommodating. I think people in the healthcare should show more empathy to their patients..

A receptionist was not really kind and helpful to me who was new to them. But she was kind, friendly and seemed want to help next patients after me who were KIWIs. What's the difference she has how to see people? Receptionist mustn't be a racist. We are same human beings.

Been on hold for 75 min waiting to talk to a receptionist, they are listed as being not busy is the workload widget. While my call may be important to them in the message I have heard oh so many times it is apparently not important enough to answer. I have been next for more than an hour. There are 3-4 people behind me in the queue varies as people give up and drop off. Passed the 90 min mark. Very poor.

The receptionists are terrible here. The doctors and nurses have always been lovely however the receptionists really let the team down. My son and I we waiting for his appointment which I had booked in for 1pm and we were still waiting at 2pm to be seen. I went up to the reception twice and asked what was happing and they told me they were just running behind. On my third attempt they went and asked a nurse to come out and it turns out they haven’t even notified the nurses we were there. Honestly don’t waste your time or money coming here.. find somewhere else close by you won’t regret it. I have enrolled my whole family at another practice.

WORST MEDICAL CENTRE. “WARNING” DO NOT GO THERE. Reception are so terrible, they would rather sit and talk to each other then doing their job. We waited 2 hours to be seen but we arrived 20 minutes earlier for our appointment. All those reception needs training on manners and professionalism. Bunch of idiots

Reception staff are rude and cause a scene. I was told by reception in previous appointments to go to the third counter rather then waiting in a long queue and missing your appointment. Today a rude receptionist at third counter said go join the queue, she didn't want to listen to the info I was given before (caused a scene) while sucking on her drink bottle smirking like a imature brat. Felt like she thought she runs the place! Get your facts right reception staff for f**ks sake 🙄

Absolutely useless and rude service. I am appalled by the snooty attitude their whole reception team has. ZERO CARE FACTOR when speaking to you. It’s unfortunately the norm because all of them have the same attitude. Not a one off. Disgusting. Hate coming here, a team of unprofessional receptionists. The doctors are great, the receptionists are just another level of rude. We’re looking elsewhere.

I feel compelled to share my recent experience at Westgate Medical Center. Despite being initially informed of a 30-minute wait, I ended up waiting for a frustrating two hours. Regrettably, the reception staff's assistance fell short of expectations, repeatedly reassuring me that I was next, while others who arrived after me were promptly seen by a doctor. The overall customer service left much to be desired. I award two stars solely based on the pleasant behaviour of the doctors.

If I can rate a zero I will definitely do it. Receptionist gave the wrong consulation fee over the phone, asked for additional money after GP consulation and SMS additional amount to pay. You better have a knowledgeable receptionist and not giving wrong information to your patients. This is not your patients fault. It is your staff who made a mistake.

Could not fault the experience we received on the evening of 21/9/22, Firstly called to ask the wait time was told 1 hour 30 mins to 2 hours, which I was happy to wait, Seen nurse , got X-rays then seen doctor, moon boot put on for my 2 year old daughter all done under an hour. Receptionist Siobhan was so lovely and welcoming when we arrived in the door. Nurse Jess & lady at radiology was absolutely fantastic with my 2 year old and both so lovely and just awesome at their jobs. Honestly beyond thankful for the experience we had this evening haven't experienced such care in a medical centre in a very long time.

Absolutely appalling communication and customer care (there is none). Do not go here - spend the same money somewhere else to get better overall care! Expect long wait times, no communication and very poor customer service. Have queried a bill I have been charged 5 follow ups of my own, no follow up calls, expecting a call from centre manager who calls first time since I followed up in December and tried to act like it was easy for this to happen. It is simple, you will get better service elsewhere.

Don't try calling, even when they're not busy they don't pick up. Eventually after getting an appt and prescription, when at my chemist I was told the prescription doesn't have a signature or barcode and to go back because they don't answer their phones to get it signed/fixed. I will be changing my GP as every time I go there seems to be an issue with something. Expect to be treated as a number, they care more about patient turnover than patient welfare.

Chris Brace is an incredible doctor. I have also heard wonderful things about Amanda Mitchell. This review is excluding them. Since Chris Brace has left I have had nothing but terrible experiences with the doctors here. From a doctor saying "when you say you have a migraine and cant see, do you really mean you just have a headache?" (I had lost vision, was vomiting in the waiting room and my partner had to help me walk) from doctors accusing me of doing "whippets" (abusing nitrous oxide gas?!) because they saw on my records that I have a b12 deficiency, from a doctor questioning and disagreeing with every diagnosis i've ever had and their treatments when all I walked in the door for was a repeat prescription (which they refused to give without me providing proof via a blood test that I still have the things I have been tested for and diagnosed with. All of which are clearly documented in my clinical records!). DISGRACEFUL! This review is coming from someone who also works in the public healthcare system. I work with doctors every working day of my life, so I have a good idea of what great doctors with empathy look like .. and the ones here are NOT it. It's not hard to see why this centre has such terrible reviews. Please read them and take this as your sign not to come here. Get yourself on a waitlist for another centre, as will I.

Not happy with this place at all! Receptionist and couple of the nurses are so arrogant not helpful at all. Wouldnt listen to me when i tried to explain the situation wouldnt look at the email i was showing them, wouldn't help at all. I was right the whole time but they kept saying no until i called my lawyer! I sent the email and then she came in the room and said that i was right.... no apology nothing! Would never recommend this place! CHANGE YOUR RECEPTIONIST!!!

I had injured myself at school. It took a long time for the call to be answered however from there everything else was amazing. The service was fantastic. Yes it was quiet which was a bonus but having an X-ray and doctor visit within 30 min it’s amazing (especially these days)

Doctor here doesn’t care anything about you and your status. My new born went to see doctor today. We got rushed without explaining anything to us before proceeding, the doctor rushed through and left us there without knowing what to do next, didn’t even get a chance to ask questions and he just left. After long waiting I had to find another staff to try to get an idea what’s going on and what happen next to my new born. I understood the clinic is busy, but it’s not the way to treat patient, especially new born. Doctor here need to learn be friendly and give patient a chance to speak up. It’s not just get the job done without explaining anything to the patient. Reception staff is kind and friendly.

Thank you for taking me today. I am a teacher who was so sick. My normal practice couldn’t see me for 2 weeks. I like the enrolment and being able to wait in my car. The front staff and doctors were so professional. I also got a covid test which I can’t do at my doctors. Due to covid, doctors are overwhelmed and it’s hard to be seen at most GP’s. Thanks Dr Alice for your support today!

I called a couple weeks ago to book an immigration medical for australia, after repeatedly stating that this visa is for Australia the person working stated that this would be possible and booked me in for an appointment for the 8th of January 2024. I get to the clinic today and get informed that they do not do Australia visa medicals and direct me to another clinic. Very poor and embarrassing from the staff, playing with a persons future seems to be something they find entertaining. Wont be returning back to this clinic and hope this is seen for the staff member to be dealt with.

I can't review anything other than them answering the phone (or rather NOT answering). Started off 6th in the queue, and have now been next in line for 29 minutes. How is that even possible? Total wait time has just gone past 45 minutes

I had an appointment, arrived 10 minutes early to be told the doctor is not in and they sent messages out ( which I DID NOT receive)I will have to wait in the walk in queue which is about 30 min. I've shown the receptionist that i have not received any communication from them other than the appointment reminder which I received 3 hours before my appointment and she treated me like " that's a you problem " . I've waited in the queue I had no other option as I took the day off, 45 minutes later ( just after another patient was taken in) I went to reception to ask how long its still going to be and the lady told me there is still another patient in front of me, so to my knowledge the waiting time will be another 30 minutes. I asked her to cancel since I was already late to pick up my children and to please make sure in the future that the patients are in fact notified if a doctor won't be in as we are also working according to a schedule. As I was talking to her she got up and walked away! Also got the feeling of "thats a YOU problem"

Understaffing issues makes staff under stress. They are busy and make me feel sorry to ask any questions or requests. I can see they are genuinely friendly and good people. Medical centre is too crowded and long queue all the time.

The doctors are great but the reception, I am tired of being profiled because of the color of my skin everytime I go there. Every single time I get asked about my residency. I have provided everything and everytime they bloody ask me to show them email them. Do your job properly and update the profile. I literally got told to show that otherwise they wouldn't see my 3 year old today and i was there 4 weeks ago. What the hell is wrong with the customer service.

They never answer their phones, always waiting past appointment times, their management since covid has been disgusting. Waited 6 hours to have our prem baby who was having difficulty breathing looked at. I’ve been a registered patient for over 10 years. DO NOT BOTHER WITH THEM!

Hopeless place! Nurses are being masqueraded as doctors and the receptionist even told me "the practice nurse is like a doctor"!! Dr Jin Gao seems nice and friendly initially but she cancelled 4 appointments back to back for me and refused to see me when I desperately needed to see a Dr. Didn't even give a proper reason why she would not see me. Even after raising a complaint no one bothered to reply! They have no duty of care whatsoever. Hope Jin experiences what she did to me. No one deserves to be treated that way for no apparent reason! Talk about weird! Pretty much all the doctors do there anyway is prescribe antibiotics back to back. Stay away and seek proper treatment elsewhere. I ended up having to go overseas. With so called doctors like the ones at Westgate Medical Centre, it's no wonder healthcare in NZ is in shambles!

I give 3-stars. And they are all for in house service. They really really need to fix their phone system. It always feels useless to try and call, better to pop in (if you can). Nurses and doctors are great but I feel like reception needs a rejig. I’m sure my call was not “next in line” for 60+ minutes! Disappointing as I’ve been a patient here for 25 years and seen minimal improvement on this side of things

  • 1/5 G 5 months ago on Google
You just have to read the countless one star reviews to see what you are getting yourself into. I wish I got the receptionist name that called me regarding an appointment. I would have plastered it onto this review. The only words to describe her would be a rude disgusting pig.

We had a very positive experience with this practice after we couldn't get an appointment with our usual gp practice. The nurses took a great care of my 5 year old son, when we came with his chest infection. I gave it a 4 star as it took ages for someone to pick up the phone and the waiting time for us as a walk-ins was around 2 hours.

2 stars for the phone service. 60+ minutes waiting on hold. I don’t know what’s going on but 60+ minutes is crazy. Big ups to Dr. Razoki though. He’s the man. Very professional, thorough & knowledgeable. Definitely recommend Dr. Razoki.
