My
partner
and
I
have
gone
here
for
several
years,
originally
with
Dr.
Fiona
Kuang
but
we
switched
to
Dr.
Regina
Cabuang
when
Dr.
Kuang
moved
to
Christchurch.
Since
then,
my
partner
-
who
has
type
I
diabetes
-
has
experienced
a
number
of
serious
health
issues
for
which
they
did
not
get
appropriate
treatment.
Last
year,
my
partner
fell
in
the
shower
and
seriously
damaged
the
nail
bed
of
their
big
toe.
This
was
particularly
concerning
because
of
their
diabetes.
When
they
asked
for
a
referral
to
a
podiatrist,
Dr.
Cabuang
told
them
to
"refer
themselves."
They
are
now
seeing
one,
but
only
because
they've
switched
away
from
this
medical
centre,
and
their
new
doctor
referred
them.
Their
toe
had
become
infected
and
will
need
surgery.
Additionally,
earlier
this
year
they
developed
sudden
and
quite
severe
high
blood
pressure
and
an
edema.
My
partner
went
to
Dr.
Cabuang
about
this
quite
a
few
times
as
well
and
was
never
referred
to
a
kidney
specialist
or
a
diabetes
specialist,
even
when
their
high
blood
pressure
didn't
respond
to
medication.
They
are
now
in
Auckland
City
Hospital
for
nephrotic
syndrome
which
the
kidney
specialist
has
confirmed
would
have
been
developing
while
they
were
still
at
Westview
Medical
Centre.
The
kidney
specialist
also
confirmed
it
was
the
cause
of
the
high
blood
pressure
and
edema
they'd
seen
Dr.
Cabuang
about.
The
nephrotic
syndrome
was
also
only
caught
at
all
because
we
switched
to
a
different
medical
centre
last
month.
Dr.
Kuang
was
lovely
while
she
was
still
practicing
here,
but
Dr.
Cabuang
did
not
provide
the
medical
care
my
partner
needed.
