I would like to preface this review by saying that every time we have actually been seen by a doctor each and every one has been very thorough and excellent. However Ratanui medical centre as a practice has all of the downsides of a large medical practice (impersonal, different doctor every time) and none of the upsides (efficient, able to be seen quickly, a patient portal to check results and book appointments). I have had several very disappointing experiences trying to be seen by a doctor (one of which I emailed the practice manager about and did not even receive an acknowledgment). The last straw was today when I tried to make an urgent appointment for my very unwell baby only to be told “we don’t do that sort of thing” in a tone that would suggest it was silly of me to expect a doctor to be able to see a sick baby. I will be finding another practice and would not recommend Ratanui to anyone unless you can predict when you are going to need a doctor weeks in advance.

Absolutely amazing. Caring, compassionate Doctor's that place their patient's needs first and foremost. Arrived half an hour early for my appointment and was seen immediately. Couldn't ask for a better General Practitioner. Ample Parking. Amiable atmosphere. Clean, hygienic and extremely professional. Chapeau!

I’ve been with these medical centre for my whole life and the reception is just horrible now. I have rung every day this week to try and see a doctor and they pretty much just say “ring back tomorrow” every time. And just rung again this morning and the phone is off the hook.

Dr Cxxx Wxxx is so useless. every time he just say it's normal....if you feel pain i can give you panadol....most people will heal by themselves.....come on man, I come to see a doctor to heal me, not heal by myself! If I want to heal by myself why do i come to you? I come to you to solve me problem and now you tell me to solve by myself.......Everyone knows to take panadol don't need you to say that....say something useful please! Be a useful doctor! How stupid can a doctor say that.....if everyone heal themselves why are you called "doctor"? There are too many useless doctors in NZ having high income but low skills, only telling people to take panadol lol. But another doctor Jxx Lxxx was much better.

Taryn is the most kind beautiful PROFESSIONAL person I have ever met she honestly lifts up the standard in this medical practice. She doesn't miss a beat she should definitely be given some acknowledgement for the way she handles the front. She's INCREDIBLE 😍 Dr Abby Smith is always so kind and listens to what is going on with you. She has helped me through so much hard times I love love love her 💗 KIND REGARDS JOEL CAREY

Do not use this center! The receptionist are rude as, they are ignorant and disrespectful to clients. Just when you're at your most vulnerable position - they think it's OK to speak to us like cr*p. And they aren't sorry! Basically, go somewhere else, if you can. Janet, if you're reading this (practice manager) thanks for not getting back to me, even though you promised. Shame on you

I have been going to this clinic since a small child well over 40 years. And I have to say I am bitterly disappointed with the lack of appointments available. They don’t offer drop in service anymore or have a few spaces available daily for emergencies. Can’t see my doctor or another suggested option for over 2 weeks. Had a medical emergency called the centre got told “ no drop ins” ended up going to white cross, which cost me $130 then got sent urgently to Waitakere hospital. What is the point of being a patient, only there because I trust my doctor. Please start leaving spaces for emergencies!!!

Ratanui used to be good, USED TO BE! They charge $22 for a script to be sent to the pharmacy, what a joke. Aren’t we supposed to be saving paper? I didn’t know it took the doctor so much effort to send an email or fax lol it must hurt their fingers. Call wait times are ridiculous and when I get told to go in for an appointment because my kids prescriptions need to be reviewed they give them the same thing. It’s a joke! A big fat joke!

Dr abby smith is amazing, but getting an appt is damn near impossible. Reception has a lack of concern or empathy towards patients. Maybe better training on front desk staff is required. If it wasn’t for dr smith or dr tilda this place would be rubbish

This practice is the best in the world, i have been a patient with them more than fifteen years and from the receptionists , Nurses and Gps always been so nice and so good with me, i am very honest about my review. I am always treated with dignity, kindness and respect and the staff are supportive and caring all the time. I wish all of the Team a very happy new year and i wish them all a successful and happy healthy life . Best Regards Jumana Tamimi

A Decent medical Centre with some polite staff. The only downfall is the extremely long wait times, even though appointments were booked. The doctors do try they're best as circumstances persist. Definitely a lot of place for improvement. Overall B+

20 minutes on Hold trying to cancel an appt...still no answer with an annoying message stating they are busy and pls hold, will be with us shortly.... I dont know if it would be faster to go to the appointment in person in 2 hours and tell them that I want to cancel it. Plus some of their Drs are just the worst.. One was offering medication for my pain without trying to diagnose it ... ugh.. I've typed this up while on hold and have just given up letting them know now..

They do have big problems with their phones, I often spend hours trying to get through then when the phone answers they hang up on you straight away and the whole thing starts again. It’s happens every time I call. It means getting an appointment is extremely difficult and time consuming. They have been broken for months. I had a male nurse there treat me very poorly and was negligent

The level of service coming out of this surgery is nothing short of a disgrace. They might be short staffed but their customer service is non existent and their receptionist was extremely rude. I have been a satisfied Ratanui customer for many years but I will never be going back. To be accused of not paying a bill when I had and to be invoiced for a prescription that had to be rewritten because the first one received was incomplete shows that not only are they short staffed but their admin is also lacking. No wonder they are losing quality doctors. My advice if you are thinking of using Ratanui Medical Centre is to go somewhere else.

As a woman I’d like to see a female doctor, I get told there’s a 2 week wait. Try making an appointment for my son I’ve been trying for a whole week and can’t get through to reception called 11 times in one day. Reception is always rude when I do magically get through, they expect me to know some number they ask for like I should know it off the top of my head for myself and 3 children, don’t know what’s wrong with a name or DOB I had an extreme bad case of covid the pain was so severe I was crying and I have a high pain tolerance. I had a phone appointment and they told me they’d send my prescription through straight away to the pharmacy. I ended up calling reception and nurse every couple of hours nobody would send the prescription through they kept saying they would but never got done I ended up having to wait a day and half for my prescription to be sent through Such incompetent staff When I received the medicine I was only given enough pain meds for a couple of days Currently looking for a new doctor

Yesterday 17.11.2022 at 1:30pm i got a text saying my sons prescription was ready to be picked up but i went to pick it up today around 10:45am i asked the young islander girl receptionist for the prescription and she told me its not ready i showed her the text saying it was ready yesterday she went to look and she said she cant find it to go home and a nurse will give me a call. I told her to look properly then she went to talk to one of the nurses the nurse came and had a look and it was right there in front of her eyes. She would've made me go home for nothing when the prescription was right there! Not happy at all! The receptionist at Ratanui are rude and so ignorant! And this is not the first one i had a issue with this girl. Once i find out her name ill post it!

Zero Star. Super not recommended. I have with them for more than 20 years, but enough is enough. The doctors are not serious nor are prepared to carry out their duty of care - totally no concern about your health - Money come first. Sone of the nurses and one of the receptionists are "super" rude and hung up on you every time when you tried to explain situation. But.. they put bad comment on your record instead - and their management don't bother to find out the truth or try to contact you to listen to your side of story and give you the benefit of doubt - so one sided! - Anyway GOD will know, I hope there is thing call Kama and one day they will be treated the same unfairness in their life. I am always early but in all instances have to wait for a long time before been seen. Zero Star.

I've dealt with a few decent doctors here but the booking process is an absolute joke. Don't bother emailing or leaving voice messages, they won't reply.

I have been coming to Ratanui since I can remember but the service from the reception has become very poor. There are no appointments available daily, if you aren’t the first caller at 7:59am. The doctors are great but the reception staff are rude and very un-accommodating. On the off chance I do get an appointment, the time is always given wrong, and on arrival am made to wait over an hour for an appointment.

I have been visiting this practice for over a year now. As comepared to my last GP this is a great place. Just a bit hard to get appointments as they are mostly booked but all doctors and staff that I come across are very polite and helpful. I appreciate all the hardwork and effort that goes to keep patients healthy during a pandamic.

I've been their patient for last 6years. Recently i really struggle to make a booking with gp. I made a call more than 10times and i finally made it to talk to the receptionist but it was fully booked for rest of this week and sometimes they hung up the phone. Staffs are nice but it is too busy all the time... so i decided to move to other gp.

Waiting for over three hours on the Saturday queue. They charge double for the service. This clinic has all the potential to stopping you for another visiting. Can’t be any worse

When I booked through phone, I was told the appointment were today. When I saw the reception, a lady asked me to take a seat after she took my information today. After 1 hour waiting, I asked the reception again and found the appointment were actually booked on tomorrow afternoon. She doesn't know what has happened. I am very very angry as I have to take leave to see the doctor and I have run out my medication. Very very very disappointed!!!

The worse clinic to be at. Reception is absolutely shocking; when I call, the pick up the call and disconnect the call. I have been calling since they have opened and was disconnected 9 times. Then when they finally decided to answer, the reception lied to me and said they do not do walk-in appointments when they do. I called her out and she said "oh yes we do but we are fully booked sorry" then hung up. It's sad because the doctors and nurses are amazing!! But your front of house staff needs a change. I will be changing GP today.

Worst ever medical centre I feel in Auckland. Oh they should get negative stars if possible. From last 2 days I have been calling them to book in an appointment and they are literally picking up the call and disconnecting it. Worst ever staff ever scene in a medical clinic.
