Drove from Hamilton to see what parrots they had available and to take the kids to see the animals. Had higher expectations than what we experienced. All of the staff kept to themselves and/or were not very eager to divulge any more information than what was asked. Most of the parrots were the store’s pet birds and not for sale. When I did find a few Ringneck parrots, the prices were not clear. Didn’t know if they were selling them in pairs or if 4-600+ (depending on the colour) was the price for a single bird. I had asked and the staff member wasn’t 100 percent and didn’t try to find out. We were able to look at puppies. Didn’t like that the staff member asked if we wanted to know price as if to rush us out because she assumed we weren’t serious buyers. They also had some cute kittens but they I guess were just a random mixed breed. I asked what kind and she said domestic and I have no clue what that is. Anyways it would be a much cooler place if you felt welcome. They also don’t have Afterpay or pay later options.

So grateful to found this cat here. I have no plans of buying anything when u walked in this store but this siamese kitten was keep calling me. So i bought him. The cat has amazing personality.

Backyard breeders, breeding severely brachycephalic dogs and cats, breeding captive wildlife, unethical, giving uneducated bad advice. Selling hundreds and hundreds of birds that are exotic wildlife that should be free, flying in their natural environment, not living in cages in the homes of thousands of random people who don't have the expertise to care for these exotic animals. And how are they getting veterinary attention when needed when the avian veterinarians don't exist here; 2 or 3 avian vets in Auckland to who knows how many thousands of pet birds. It's hard enough getting an emergency vet appointment for a dog. They are a major contributor to many animal welfare issues in NZ. They are exploiting living creatures for money. They need to be shut down!!!

Today I visited pet store in Lincoln rd with my 7 year old autism child . He was looking at the parrots and he screamed . I didn't know that he will scream. The girl on the counter was so rude to me saying your child can't do that,it will make the birds scared which I understand she is right. She could have told me nicely ,After I told her that my son doesn't know he is non verbal and diagnosed with autism she was still so rude. That was so disrespectful. She doesn't have any respect for a spacial needs child what respect will she have for the birds. I just want to ask the manager is this how you train your sales girls to treat your customers.

If you love animals then you definitely shouldn’t support this place. Animals are kept in awful condition. Animals in general shouldn’t be sold in pet stores as we have far too many rescues as it is. Guinea pigs and rabbits are housed together which can cause Guinea pigs an extreme amount of stress. Enclosures are too small and crowded for all types of animals. Staff are clearly oblivious to how animals should be kept (or they don’t care). Animal abuse 100%

Not good in our experience.They rehomed our 2 very very tamed talking treasured cockatiels.It was supposed to be to a person who was willing to make contact with owner and give chance if they didnt settle would return to Bird Barn for owners decision what they wanted, one of these treasured birds was 15yr with owner and had amazing connection.I feel strongly Bird Barn are cold hearted and all about making money. I am broken hearted.Only rehomed for family member health reasons.

Best Aviary in Auckland. Great prices. Amazing, friendly Staff. Excellent range of birds and products. Just go for a squiz and be at one with our fine feathered friends. Outstanding!

You cannot buy a bird without buying a cage. $549.00 for a cage and cockatiel. That's a rip off honestly. All I wanted was a companion for my cockatiel not the cage etc as I have 2 big cages already. So big waste of time unless you are wanting both bird and cage. Very disappointing as nowhere does it say you have to buy a cage with a bird. Turned out to be a waste of fuel and time. Thanks bird barn for nothing.

Beautiful birds in the store and back garden! Most of the larger parrots are store pets though and they only have cockatiels, ringnecks and budgies for sale. Good selection of bird toys, wholesale sized seed mix, seed bells, and cuttlefish bags at very reasonable prices :)

I just want to say that I would not go to Bird Barn if they were the last bird supplier in Auckland. I purchased 2 supposedly "hand reared" budgies late 2018. Neither were friendly, one of them in early 2019 was very sick. Took him back and supposedly they treated him with antibiotics (only Vets supply) - not true. I got him well through another party. When I confronted the owner about the lack of care - was told "I am glad I am not your husband". What a complete dirt bag! My Benny has just died - as the Vet told me he was a "show bird" maybe had interbreeding but that doesn't mean he should die before his fourth birthday. I am so sad that we have cared for a bird for 2 months as a bottom dweller - no use of his legs. My other bird has now got to live without a friend - both had the freedom to fly out of their cage. I am so upset but know they don't care a complete rats arse. Carol Richardson.

Easy to find, ample parking, great variety of animals. Granddaughter lived it!

Awesome pet store. Wide variety of birds, fish, dogs, and reptiles. Good selection of products too. The parking outside is a bit tight. Also, getting in and out of the entrance with any car is tight squeeze, especially because it's so close to an intersection.

All the animals are so cute and have good sized enclosures. They have pet supplies as well as other animals other than birds such as reptiles, rodents, dogs, cats and fish. The staff are very friendly and answer questions. I wouldn't suggest seeing the birds if you aren't fond of loud noise but they are separated from all the other animals by another building. There is a good sized car park and its easy to get to.

Lovely family owned business who we've known for the past 30+ years. Amazing selection of all pet care products. Love popping in for a snuggle with the birds and topping up on supplies for our gorgeous wee fluffy chooks we purchased around 6 months ago from Dave.

This is an amazing petstore for animal, bird and fish lovers. Amazing variety, friendly service and very knowledgeable staff.

Rip off place. Price of a budgie $150.00 and you have to get a bigger cage even though the one you have is big enough don't recommend at all

Been a family owned business by the same family since I was a kid. Staff are knowledgeable, friendly and have never failed to be able to answer any question I have put to them. From puppy and dog issues, any and all things avian, right through to the quickest and easiest way to deal with parasites on my Goldfish! Prices are lower than all other major brand pet stores I have seen, and they offer a members club rewards program through your purchases. Birds are very chirpy and look fluffy. The only downside is how they wouldn't shut up. Really hard for me as an introvert to go to such a place where no pet respects my confidence. Come on Bird Barn. A women Jade reminded me of Jenny from from Forrest Gump, she was like a box of chocolates.

Great pet store with a large range of kittens, puppies, rabbits, guinea pigs, gold fish turtles, birds. Alot of pet supplies and services. Ask one of the friendly staff members if you need any help.

Always a funny little place to go and see all the little budgies and parrots they have, fish, turtles, lizards, kittens, and puppies they have also.. if your planning to get you a pet for yourself or loved one this is always a good place to shop at and also get advice and any items you may need for a pet.

I am so fortunate to live within a short walk to the Bird Barn and often visit this awesome place. The staff are so friendly and kind - always greet me on arrival and often update me on 'new arrivals' etc. I used to take my children who are all adults now and can 'take themselves or their own children. I highly recommend a visit to anyone - young or older. You will definitely love it.👍😍 Just went (again) today - always greeted warmly and made aware of 'new' additions. Kids love this place, parking can get tricky when it's full, but I've only struck that once, and we come here often for rabbit and dog food and toys. Has everything you need for all types of pets they have some pugs and labs in their atm, and there sooo cute, Meet the owner, a lovely lady with a passion for animals. Will keep coming back forsure!!!
