The doctors are good and I have never had a problem here, except for recently when dealing with a receptionist, Jo. I have two really negative experiences with her, the first time I let it go, but this time I thought I'd bring it up. The first time I spoke with her, I told her that I am waiting on specialist referral documents to be sent to me, but I am concerned because there is a mail thief who's been stealing mail in my area, she replied saying "So what do you want me to do about it?" In a condescending tone, not at all helpful. I told her that she was being incredibly rude and then her tone changed suddenly and started to be nicer. All I wanted to was for my mailing address to be changed. I didn't do anything about it that day because I thought, "everyone has bad days." I called today and I was again greeted in a nasty manner. I asked if I could have my medical certificate re-sent to me, as I had requested it twice - and she cut me off mid sentence and said "Well there's nothing I can do about it, the computer systems are down." Which I understand, these things happen, but it's the tone and way she says things that can't be adequately expressed through text. I explained that I had already had it sent YESTERDAY and I hadn't received it, I again wanted to have it sent to another email so I don't have to call for a third time - She then hung up on me. I get that you may be frustrated Jo, but you have to have some tact. I work in insurance, so I deal with angry customers on a daily basis, and I have never spoken to someone in the way that you do.

Not recommended. Seems to be a recurrent theme in NZ nowadays to have medical practices that are only interested in money. This is the case for this establishment. $58 for consultation you need to book, not to be seeing on time EVER. Doctors prescribe medicine, if you have adverse effects from it, too bad, you will need a new $58 consultation. The staff is unfriendly. They charge $2 per mask that you are required to use in this place. Receptionists often give you the wrong information (E.G tells you there will be a waiting of 15-20min, when you actually have to wait 50min+. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place.

I have been going to this medical centre for many years. The doctors are very knowledgeable and good at explaining what the problem may be. My doctor (Stirling) is always careful to run any required diagnostic test to ensure he has a clear picture of what is happening. The nurses are also very up to date in their medical knowledge. I trust the doctors and nurses at this practice and highly recommend them if you are looking for a GP.

I used to love these doctors and have been a patient for around 15 years. Now days its all about your money and discriminating on patients. If you are going to put your patients in back rooms, or in their cars and not allow then to come into your clinic, like a lot of your *other* patients- at least charge lesser fee. I will not pay to be discriminated against. Today was the final straw for me. Don't put up with it people!

Dr. Carmel Built is such a gem! In all my years I have been with her, she is the most amazing and down to earth Dr. Very thorough in her checkups, very compassionate and understanding most definitely on point. Always goes beyond her expertise to what is required. Yes it is her job but you definitely see the passion she has. She not only does what she loves but she absolutely loves what she does! 😊

I became very sick and needed help. Katie answered at the reception and she was so kind. She booked me in with Dr Tan the very next day. Dr Tan is very helpful and efficient. They are an awesome team that made the experience easy. Thank you!

My kids and I are under the care of Dr Steven Tan, he’s really great with children in term of listening in every details and also follow up the results. It’s great that booking can be easily done online and also the prescriptions and blood test all sent to the pharmacy and lab test electronically. Recently I needed to have covid test and due to the increasing number of covid case and long queue at every testing station, I expected to be a long wait at the clinic. I booked for a test, drove in, got swabbed and drove out - all done within a minute…impressive.

Highly recommend Cornwall Medical Centre. Appointments are always available, reception staff are welcoming and the quality of care is excellent. Our primary GP was Jacqui Tam and she was great! Friendly, very thorough and great with kids. We also dealt with a few other doctors at the practice and never had any issues.

The quality of care and customer service from Cornwall medical centre, is more than words can describe. I have been under the care of Dr Steven Tan for several years now, and he has exceeded my expectations. His kind friendly nature makes each appointment comfortable and easy. No matter what the situation is he always goes above and beyond, providing great care and conversation.
