A great safe harbour for boating and fishing, though extreme caution needs to be taken if attempting to cross the bar. For the North side around Waitakere there are no all tide ramps so you need to plan. A ramp is at French bay or launch from the beach at little Huia or Cornwalis but parking can be a real hassle here as it gets very busy and the car park is small and unregulated. Also the launch area is tight for more than one trailer. Fishing is good with certain spots being favoured. Watch the current as it's very strong. Local coastguard are based in Titirangi for the North and Papakura and Waiuku in the South. Auckland coastguard are on Ch18

lovely place especially on the waterfront at Mangere bridge where there is great views, parks and plenty of parking

Fabulous harbor with wonderful views and many wonderful spots for time out on your own or with a family

Disapointing, the lighthouse not open for visits. Car parking terrible. Otherwise was good.

Excellent for Kayak fishing , very underrated harbour so close to city.

Aucklanders call it the muddy pond. So don't fish there. More for me!
