Last year, my son was sick and we took him to the hospital. He was examined by Dr. Peter Root, who was not only rude but also displayed racial discrimination. Dr. Root diagnosed my son with amoxicillin allergy and prescribed medication for it. We avoided going back to the hospital until recently when we had to visit again. Once again, we had the misfortune of being treated by Dr. Peter Root. He rushed through the examination, asking us to move quickly because he was busy. He even criticized my son for not speaking English well, implying that his medical treatment couldn’t be proper due to the language barrier. Instead of inquiring about my son’s physical condition, he asked irrelevant and strange questions. I had already provided detailed information about my son’s condition, so I don’t understand why Dr. Root focused on my son’s English proficiency. I usually don’t write reviews, but I feel compelled to share my disappointment. Dr. Peter Root lacks professionalism and seems to have issues with the nursing staff. I believe it would be best for the hospital to reconsider his position here.

Do not recommend - big corporate which lacks humanity - views patients as numbers/$$ and has no problem making babies wait in a car in the parking lot for appointments which in my experience have taken up to an hour to eventuate(even while there was no confirmed COVID case in NZ), However, the second you are late by 10 minutes they tell you your appointment is cancelled and that you have to book the following week. If your kids are sick they are always full and you have to book the following week for an appointment. You get a different doctor each time you go. Would not recommend for families looking for quality care.

I normally don’t write reviews, but unfortunate this experience was just too bad to leave unheard. I am writing today to complain about the poor and unprofessional service I received from Northcare Accident and Medical on Sunday 19/02. My husband injured his eye while he was cleaning the garden. While he was trimming the hedge, a twig stabbed his eye resulting in an eye injury. So I decided to take my husband to Northcare Accident and Medical. After waiting in line, we were quickly received by a doctor going by the name of Jeffrey Garon, he led us into his office. After explaining the injury, Dr Jeffrey lifted my husband's closed eyelid and told him to look downward to see what was wrong. My husband tried to but couldn’t seem to look down and so he said “I don’t know,” a few times. However, instead of staying calm and going through the steps again, Dr Jeffrey started to get annoyed and made comments about my husband having mental issues. This was not at all kind or professional and my husband got quite offended. He wanted to clarify why the doctor was making such comments but when he spoke, Dr Jeffrey started to ask my husband to leave, otherwise, he would call the police. Instead of apologising, Dr Jeffrey spoke loudly to ask us to stop abusing him and not raise our voices. At this point, the receptionist tried to help us and the nurse Jade, who was lovely and respectful, checked in on us and even said that my husband didn’t raise his voice. I have never received such service like this from a medical department before and to have experienced this today, we felt utterly disappointed to have received this kind of medical assistance. I believe as medical and health service providers, doctors should be following the Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers' Rights, Regulations 1996, and providing us with the professional care we deserve as a patient. And unfortunately, that was not provided to us. The following day the clinic manager called us which we thought was to apologize and solve the issue. However it seems like she believed the doctor’s ridiculous and illogical explanation. We never even received a formal apology. We strongly DO NOT recommend this clinic.

July 11 I went to see Dr Tanya Wilson re a burst blood vessel on my wrist without any inflicted pressure or injury (merely sat as a passenger in the car driven by my son on a relaxing afternoon drive). I showed the swollen hematoma to the doctor and she commented that my blood pressure is raised and quite concerning . She then told me to proceed to get a blood test and will start from there (me thinking there will be a follow up after ) , and I was shown to the nurse’s room. Since then (Monday ) , I never heard anything further. Feeling more anxious than anything , the next day I followed up for the result of the blood text, no one picked up so I left a voice Mail on the nurses’ mailbox . July 13, I rang again, another voice mail . July 14 (Thursday , today), radio silence. Called this morning , again I was promised a nurse will call me back as soon as possible . That was 11:30am. At 1:30pm I rang the lab test and they assured me that my results were back July 11 (same day). They said no news is good news. That’s fair enough , but that’s not what I went to see the doctor for. It’s my burst blood vessel , and huge hematoma that seem to come out of nowhere . 3:30pm I rang the northcare again, the first 5 mins, Jane the receptionist engage in a little argument and insisted my latest lab results were JUNE 1 and there’s no new blood test results yet since. As it turned out, she got a wrong patient . I then asked yet again if I could possibly get an urgent reply since I’m getting more and more anxious - you just don’t burst blood vessels everyday without any injury or pressure. Plus , I will be flying in 2 weeks time - which I’ve mentioned to my doctor I’m worried about DVT. She assured me that I will be safe and in fact, it’s the complete opposite . After letting the receptionist know that I’m considering putting up a legal complaint by now , finally I got a call from one of the nurse, penny who said my blood results are fine.’ The thing is, it’s not what I went there for. It still didn’t say anything about the bursting blood vessel on my wrist. My daughter who is a doctor overseas has expressed her frustration about the lack of action or follow up on my case, she was questioning why I wasn’t even ordered an ultrasound sound nor MRI at that time of my visit. She now suggest I seek a second opinion from another clinic . The lack of follow up to close my case is very disappointing . I am left hanging without knowing what is wrong with my body. There was no care nor concerned that the patient is going through a real fear daily . There was even no explanation why I never got a call from my original voicemail. 3 days on, I was told to wait till the nurses are free. I feel like a wasted my time and now my hematoma is gone and we will never know why I burst my blood vessels then is very scary and agitating. There’s no record of ultrasound or mri for any investigation purposes . Overall experience : it’s like going to a third world clinic . Very disappointing . I wasted my time and money . Even more annoying , I was told that dr Tanya Wilson is only a sort of A &E doctor there and that I should have seen my real GP. What’s the difference ? Aren’t they both doctors? PS: as off 5pm, I got a call from Penny the nurse who said she’s spoken to Dr Olfat and asked me if I want to have yet another blood test if I’m worried about deep vein thrombosis , she said I could have D-Dimer test. I was very amused now because first of all, why was I not offered it In the first place when I mentioned to Dr Wilson about my concern with my upcoming flying ? And almost quite arrogantly Penny said “well it’s there at the reception if you Need it. This was the reaction once I’ve mention I’m looking at documenting this experience and putting together a legal case. Dr Olfat rang but my phone didn’t seem to pick up and went to voicemail , so I immediately rang back but their switchboard took 11 minutes to answer and by then, Dr Olfat was gone.. Not really holding my breath for any more contact from this clinic. What a useless place. Waste of my time.

This review is to give absolute praise and gratitude to the Staff of Northcare, who have always been kind, caring and apologetic (5 Stars) For the practice Management - 1 Star for Unacceptable wait times, due to obvious staffing shortage. As an enrolled member for the past 17+ years, I am very disappointed with the wait times, lack of available appointments, and Urgent Care that is far from Urgent. 3.5hrs on 22/01/24 due to there being only 1 Doctor servicing Appointments and 1 on Urgent Care. This is why people resort to Hospital Emergency care instead.

Don't normally write reviews, especially bad ones but today I was really upset... Waited for two hours (two and a half actually if counting time for COVID test) for the doctor to see my autistic child. After one hour of waiting I asked how far away from being seen are we and got a response that we have only one person ahead of us. After waiting for another hour my child was tired, restless and hungry so I said to the receptionist that we are going to leave. She asked to wait for another 5min, which we did but still no doctor. So, we left. 5 min after leaving I received a call from reception that the doctor is ready to see us... Really??? So, we patiently waited for two hours and only left to get this call 5min after leaving. Very disappointed! Giving not one star but two only for the receptionist who seemed to be empathetic.

Absolutely disappointing experience, left very upset and also left speechless - I don't normally write reviews but I felt this was very necessary so others know. We were seen by a doctor by the name of Graham. He was absolutely rude, not willing to listen, opinionated and zero compassion - he obviously didn't care and left us feeling like just another number/transaction. He asked us with the injury if we could still attend work, we started to explain the nature of our work and working from home could be an option since it's an office based role - his response was simply "what was my question? It's either yes or no, I don't need to know the rest". We asked if he suggested getting the x-ray done sooner (we'll need to travel further away to get it done because their x-ray unit was closed) or can it wait till tomorrow when their x-ray unit opens. He replied "how do I know if you need to do it sooner or later without seeing the scans and knowing if there is an issue?" And the end, he wrote a referral to get scans. We had to ask what can we do in the meantime since it's painful, he sighed and said just put ice on it and showed us how to properly take steps. He appeared very impatient and bothered by us, at that point, we just wanted to leave and didn't want to ask anything else. When we walked out to reception, the nurses there was alot more helpful, offered crutches, then offered to wrap the swollen joint, and also have some advice on what to do for the next few days which was alot more reassuring - they were very patient and kind to us. Thank you to the nurse and admin team there, however a real let down by the doctor there. Because of this, we will never be returning the ever again. Never had this kind of experience at any clinic in NZ before, never been treated this way and I'm just hoping it's just a once off and no one else experiences this.

Update: changed to another clinic and they do not have long wait like servers hours. So yes glad I switched this medical clinic to another. Original: This place used to be running efficiently however now the time to see a doc is just insanely long. And it has happened so many times. Time for a new medical provider.

Excellent experience at this after hours clinic with my baby. Even though I live in the city, i drove to this clinic because I could see on the emergency Q app that it had the shortest waiting time out of all the ERs and clinics in Auckland. Sure enough- I was seen immediately by a kind nurse and then experienced doctor! I will definitely be back next time my kids need a doctor after hours.

Used to be good but all of the good doctors have left. The ones there now have no compassion or bedside manner at all. Arrived 2 minutes late for an appointment due to traffic and was told the doctor can't see me and would have to rebook. Took time off for the appointment so an absolute waste of time. Will be enrolling somewhere else.

Took my son who was in agony here and the so called ‘doctor’ spent 10 minutes with him and sent him home with constipation. Fast forward 8 hours later and he was in starship hospital having emergency surgery for a burst appendix. Health and disability commission will be informed about this. Absolutely disgusted with this centre.

Unprofessional, racist approach to the patients, which is quite common in North Care Clinic according to the previous reviews. We advised to the doctor that my daughter has allergy to certain antibiotics. Over 9 days we were prescribed 4 different types of antibiotics. I personally requested old traditional antibiotics Amoxicillin; the doctor refused to prescribe it to us on our second visit. Amoxicillin was prescribed only on day 9 after our first visit, however it was never made available to us at Albany Chemist Warehouse. Albany Chemist Warehouse stated that according to their records, they have never received any referral for Amoxicillin for us. The manager of North Care stated in his email that prescription was sent to the Albany Chemist Warehouse. Its like in circle, no one wants to take responsibility. I believe that referral was not sent or sent to the wrong address. I am very disappointed about service, I would not recommend this place, waste of time and money. Case was reported to Health and Disability Commissioner.

Terrible service, constantly waiting up to 40 mins for your doctor visits, not to mention telling a 18 month old she could no longer attend her appointment due to being 3 minutes late. with a high fever and constantly vomiting. Now home with a high fever still vomiting. I want be coming back that’s for sure. I hope you can sleep at night for your negligence lady.

Shocking service, doctor only very briefly looked at my sons hand, told me radiologist specialist would look and report on injury within 6-24 hours. Told us to make an appointment with a hand specialist without even knowing what was wrong with my sons hand. This was on Wednesday 17/05/2023 it’s now 19/05/2023 and I’ve just had a missed call from the centre. When I rang back receptionist told me no one had rung me and I’ll just have to wait and see if anyone calls me back. They have charged me $58 for this so called service. Male nurse that dealt with us on the day was nice and is the only positive experience.

WORST doctor's I have ever been to. Went in with severe abdominal pain only to be told by the doctor that his wallet is full because too many people who just don't excercise rely on medications and pills to be slaves to corporate giants.I paid 110$ to be told he wrote a book and he knows 100% I just have to excercise to relieve my sudden severe worsening abdominal pain.only went there as emergency because I couldn't get a GP consult fast enough horrible experience

My wife went to get checked as she couldn't walk or stand fue to severe pain on her lower back. Dr.Martin did no testing. Nothing. Sent her home with pain medications, it took her 20 minutes to walk up two steps of stairs! And she paid $100 to be seen. How are you charging this much and not caring for your patients!

The absolute worst! My son hurt his leg, literally unable to walk. Had to carry him into the medical centre. Waited over an hour and not seen at all. Watched people who arrived after been seen a lot quicker. 5 or 6 receptionist who didn’t seem busy at all. 1 doctor only on call. A disgrace. Clearly profit over healthcare is a focus here. Ended up leaving without being seen. Would prefer to travel much further to get better help/healthcare. Will never return and would never recommend this medical centre.

I took my son for check up on a Saturday and to my surprise there was just one doctor and one nurse. Doctor Grahamwas clearly exhausted and in a very bad mood and held my son so roughly and literally had “ why you even came” written all over his face.. I am from Pakistan where doctors have even harder conditions but was never ever treated like that specially with children. I don’t know what’s the point of 3 people at reception when clearly need more “kind” doctors or nurses. Like I paid for your time ( which was not even 1 minute) sir. All these emergency places that we are left with to go on weekends like shore care or north care are so pathetic, expensive and not at all kids friendly.

I had a really bad experience with Dr Anuj yesterday. He was rude, talked down at me and my partner. Didn't let me finish my sentences and kept interrupting me. Told me that I can only discuss 1 issue and for everything else I will have to rebook. Why? This isn't a free service, I'm paying for this, so why can't I discuss everything that I came here for? I did book an appointment and at the time the receptionist didn't advise me that I can only discuss one thing. Dr Anuj's failed to show compassion and empathy. I have been a patient there for over 20 years now and this service has left me very disappointed.

Very very poor service .I do not recommend this medical centre. Most of the doctors are very rude.It is like you pay 75$ every time to ruin your peace .No proper communication and no willingnesss to help a patient .Speaking my 1 year experience.Never recommending this ply ever to any friends and family . I always had to wait extra 15-20 minutes beyond my scheduled appt time and non one comes and informs you . I’ve had very bad treat by few doctors name as Peter And Dr Anuj Gupta.Few things to mention to Dr Peter; I request you not to rely on crystal ball to examine patients as you said you will check on crystal ball .And to doctor Anuj -Please atleast give the patients proper 15 minutes as they pay for that and not waste their time talking other personal things rather than talking about their reason to come see a doctor. A lot of you doctors need to learn professionalism.

Like any practice or work place, there are people who excel at their jobs, and some who do not. I had an issue with one of the doctors there after taking my daughter in for an appointment. In short, I was not happy with the medical treatment and advice provided to me. I emailed the reception two days after our visit, explaining my problem. The Managing Director of Northcare rang me shortly after and said I could bring my daughter in ASAP to see Dr Peter Boot. She was was kind, empathetic, and no questions asked. I understand there will be some patients out there that would not “gel” with Dr Boot and his methods. I personally think this is due to a matter of misunderstanding different personalities. As a medical professional, Dr Boot is incredibly experienced and knowledgeable with a pragmatic approach. He thinks outside the box and notices the small details that many others would fail to see. Being in a consultation with him is somewhat like being a patient in an episode of Dr House. I believe my daughter received proper treatment and medication from him. Afterwards, while I was in the pharmacy, the Managing Director approached me for a chat and to check-in with how everything had gone. I left Northcare feeling they had done everything in their power to help and resolve an issue in a timely manner. I would encourage anyone in the same position to email reception with any issue they have so they too can have it resolved. Thank you, Northcare.

My mum visited Peter Boot and she had an incredibly terrible experience with Peter Boot. He even had the audacity to suggest she sees the Chinese doctor down the road instead (after she had paid his fee!) because she spoke with an accent! This is negligent, poor customer service and unacceptable racist behaviour. In response to Northcare's response below - my mum speaks English with an accent (as do many many migrants) and she is not fluent in Chinese. The assumption made by Peter Boot (and the responder below) clearly indicates a racial bias and by turning her away (again, after she's paid the fee) is negligence driven by racism.

I am local to this clinic and have been here many times and always come back. Never had a bad experience and always seen quickly, which is not always the case at emergency clinics. A week or so ago my 12 year old was seen by Dr Boot who needed to carry out a minor procedure. Done with kindness and efficiency and saved a trip to the hospital on Mothers Day thanks to his medical experience (thank you!). Today I saw a different doctor and I appreciated her kindness and efficiency in sorting my issue out. Special thanks also to the triage nurse who we saw both times, also very empathetic and efficient, and reception staff. This is a great clinic and glad we live local and can use the services including pharmacy on-site where prescriptions are sent through electronically. I believe that some of the negative reviews left in recent times are symptomatic of staffing issues and pandemic-related pressures on a stretched NZ health system. We are however happy patients and hope that people who have chosen to work in healthcare under difficult circumstances know how much they are appreciated!

If I could give 0 stars, I would. My family and I have been with Northcare for 5 years, and every time I leave the practice, I find myself looking around for a new practice. Communication is terrible! Good luck for anyone on chronic medication, it is a nightmare to get repeat scripts. It feels like the staff think they are doing me a favour by providing me with a service I pay for. At this stage, I feel like I can literally go to any other doctor/ practice, because it can surely not get worse than this! It’s all about the $$ and not about the patient. Yes, I acknowledge covid and staff shortages etcetera, etcetera, I’ve had enough.

We have used Northcare Accident for a few years now and have never had a bad experience! I don't normally write reviews, but we received excellent care for an emergency tonight and thought it was worth mentioning. We were so please to be able to see Dr Boot during there emergency hours. Very attentive and even gave advice about other things too! Wait time was only 10 minutes if that. We regularly see Dr Minic and Dr ofat who are amazing. Always attentive and very thorough.

We had tried to go to 2 other urgent cares over the weekend but they were bursting with people. Northcare thankfully saw my daughter 25 mins before closing for a very bad ear infection after I had rang ahead. They ensured the pharmacy stayed open so she could get the medicine she needed. Thanks much! I always go to North care for urgent care over other places.

Efficient service and kind staff. I have been visiting Northcare Medical Centre for a fracture, and my experience so far has been great. I would like to recommend this place! As an urgent walk-in patient, the waiting time was short compared to my past experiences at other medical centres. All staff members are professional and kind. I would like to especially thank Erin, who is not only professional and kind but also has a great sense of humor, making her an asset to the team!

Absolutely horrendous customer service. Trying to get me to pay for another consultation just to have a document I should have already been given on my first visit. Was told multiple times it will get sorted then have had to phone up everyday just to be told to come back in and pay for another consultation. 10/10 do not recommend and will not use again. Was referred somewhere else - they could not help my injury at all.

Dr Matt Bourke is amazing. It has taken me far too long to find a doctor that is a good fit for me. Compassionate and understanding. The GP prices are a tad steep but i probably wouldn't stay if it weren't for him. Pharmacy is right there so that is super handy and blood work can be done there too.

This practice would benefit in a customer relations course. Receptionists seem to be detached from the job they were assigned for, customer relations and care. I do not recommend this place as doesn't seem to have the basic in human compassion. Very hard to see the same doctor, maybe quick turnover of staff?

Worst service ever! 2hs for the doctor to say to go to GP or Hospital!!! Graham Desborough was the terrible doctor For all the other people that are complaining, for what looks the same reason (racist, nasty and etc) please also make your complaint here: https://www.hdc.org.nz/making-a-complaint/make-a-complaint-to-hdc/ This kind of people shouldn't be working as a doctors. They should help people and not make them feel worse than what they were when they come to see the doctor! And its a shame that after so many complaints about the same person, the clinic still keep them working there

All the negative comments in regards to this place I have to disagree with, I’ve only had the best care from Reception, Nurses and the Doctors since I’ve been going here. Dr Booth is the man and definitely knows what he is talking about, maybe he’s not everyone’s cup of Tea. If you want straight up advice and no BS he is the man to talk to. Please don’t forget these Health providers are under immense strain at times, don’t be fast to judge as they are doing the best they can for you :)

What a disappointing experience. My 3 month old granddaughter was not well ...she had a fever, runny nose, sneezing and coughing. The lady at the reception told my daughter to do a RAT test on baby , I asked if there was a private area we can go to do this and the only option she gave us was do it in the waiting room ,toilet or outside for which i had to remind her that baby is sick and it is raining outside). There was an empty exam room directly across the reception, allowing us in there for 2 minutes would have been appreciated or even have a nurse help to do it. I'm not sure how my daughter would have done the RAT test on her own had I not been there to help hold baby while she did it. This is just a reminder why I chose to deregister as a patient from Northcare Accident and Medical.

I had a great experience at Northcare Accident and Medical. The staff were kind and helpful, and I didn’t have to wait long. The doctor diagnosed my issue and ensured that I had the follow up care I needed at a busy time just before Christmas. Many thanks!

I was seen over the past month regarding an accident overseas & the staff were AMAZING. Overall great experience every time I came in - especially from the nurses I saw! All very kind, great with communication & couldn’t be more thankful for all their help and my experience with north care ☺️
