We went on a deal of wine, pizza choc tops/popcorn and 2 tickets. Pizza was card, pop corn burn, cinema dirty and no air conditioning, which they knew but didn't tell anyone till i asked. We got our money back thankfully before watching and went to the Vic in Devonport instead. Much nicer.

Very disappointed. I took my Mum as a treat tonight thinking it would be lovely but not many boxes were ticked other than the movie was entertaining and we enjoyed the pizza and the ice creams. The guy who served us was unfriendly, no smile or hello or enjoy your movie or anything. Didn’t tell us what theatre to go in and wasn’t immediately obvious on the ticket (we were first timers), once we did work it out we walked in and another movie was playing, we weren’t told to take a seat until the theatre was ready, weren’t told when to go in, weren’t spoken to about the pizza flavour, couch wasn’t very comfortable and we had cold air blowing on us on a cold night. Pizza arrived but the ice creams didn’t so I had to go out and ask for them and when I said we were told they would be bought in I was told ‘they were slammed’ and was given two ice creams without nuts which is what was included in the deal. There were only 4 left in the freezer so lucky I did go and get them as would likely to have missed out. Also didn’t seem clean at all. I was really looking forward to a boutique movie experience and was totally disappointed. We run our own business and it doesn’t take much to smile or say sorry for the wait no matter how tough the day is. Needless to say we won’t be going back and won’t recommend to anyone.

Booked a deal through grabone that had to be booked by phone but it was impossible to reach someone by phone no matter what day or time of the day I called. Tried to email and no response. Messaged through FB who advised better off just walking in and that the session time I asked for had plenty of slots. Walked in to find that they weren’t taking grabone bookings for that event and that they were understaffed. The manager Frank was very rude and said they were understaffed and pointed out that there was popcorn on the floor from yesterday that they still hadn’t cleaned yet. Will never be coming back to this cinema. Pizza tasted like cardboard and toilets were unclean.

So disappointing. Tried to book tickets this morning and the website was broken. First off, the website wouldn't let me pay for the tickets and when I pressed the 'pay' button the website wouldn't take me to the next page. The tickets then expired and I had to start the process all over again. Low and behold, the website decides to completely break and now it wont even let me select seats for any movies or dates. Tried on three different computers and two phones and had the same problem on all five (!!) devices. I called them three times, no answer. Found out on here though through previous reviews that they don't open until 15 minutes before the first movie. Which is unfortunate as I tried to book at 10am and the first movie today is at 4.45pm. Looks like I wont be giving Monterey Cinemas my money as this is terrible customer service, website maintenance and poor contact details as I literally could not speak to someone about a) fixing the website and b) booking my tickets! Absolute joke.

Last night I went to watch a movie in a refrigerator. Even though it's the middle of winter the air-conditioning was pumping out freezing cold air, I raised this with the attendant but he said it was an ongoing issue and that the building owner was the one responsible. I get that he may not have had the ability to turn it off or warm it up but if this was my place of work I would be all over the landlord to ensure that people weren't freezing while trying to watch a movie, it was so cold I almost left the movie. If management from Monterey see this, contact your landlord and insist they sort the "ongoing situation" with the air-conditioning as it is affecting your business!

Initial visit: parking so close, gotta love that - Nooice! #FYI.. downstairs toilets are disgusting, cinema not cleaned before we were told to enter. Post-pandemic even... Popcorn a tad salty, slightly lukewarm, plenty solid kernels about 1/4 of the cup... Choc-Top ice-cream, Nooice! Drink service, wasn't bad. Movie, good visual Vs audio - no delay. #FYI.. Who turned on the lights before the credits ended?

They have screwed our local cinema with stupid seats. Worst I’ve ever been to. Top it off with no heating so we both were freezing for 2 hrs. Will never return and I live 200m away in the Sentinel. Prefer to drive 30min and spend my money

Best Customer service. Despite being late they continued to serve us. Food was great. Film was great.

It would have been a great experience as the theatre itself is quite pleasant but be warned it is freezing cold. I noticed this issue has been happening for some time and the staff response was "they are doing everything they can". Management if the aircon is playing up put a heater in there (find solutions not excuses to problems) it was hard to enjoy the movie when you are so cold. Be warned take a hot water bottle and a blanket if your watching a movie here.

Movie cinema was very comfortable. We just struck a night where they were short staffed & had to go out during the movie to remind we had not recieved our Pizza.

Great cinema. We were able to rent out an entire theatre for a private screening. Good value for money and nice comfy chairs and couches

We really appreciated the Team to let us use our grab one voucher despite the event of fire that took place just the day before. The electricity was off, making all the choices limited. We were still kindly welcomed and offered an alternative for the booked experience. Thank you for making such a great experience for us despite the unfortunate event ❤. Kia kaha

Horribly stuffy in the foyer which made for an unpleasant start to the movie going experience. Air conditioning, if there is any available in the foyer, should be switched on when the humidity is high. Fortunately not too bad in the theatre.

Don't buy a grab one deal. Very unorganized. They forgot to bring any food as sold in the offer. LOL. Also toilets super unclean.

Loved the cinema's here. The couches/sofa's were comfortable. The pricing is decent, really an enjoyable time at the movies.

Thank you to Takapuna Beachside Cinemas (formerly Monterey) for hosting a brilliant 13th birthday party for my daughter. Shaun and his team were beyond accomodating with 21 girls in tow, and the venue has been beautifully renovated. Comfortable in cinema couches, cushions and a nice lounge to hang out in by the lobby. Highly recommended & we’ll be back. :)

Beautiful entrance, with the feeling of going to a movie opening night. Great service and comfortable seating. Good night out.
