Food was awesome and portions were big for the price. We had a starter and 2 mains. Cocktails were normally priced in a restaurant or a bar and were delicious, especially the special martini. Service was relatively fast considering it was pretty busy. Would definitely recommend 💯

Mixed feelings with Mulan sadly. The service was kind and the decor/ambience is vibrant. We started off with the lamb momos which were great, but from there…not so good. The “golden shield” signature dish had far too much onion in it, it overpowered the dish. And the two main curries tasted nearly exactly the same - might have been poor ordering on my part - but sadly neither were particularly great. I found both a bit bland. It’s never nice when the service is so warm to have to give a review like this, but a restaurant needs to let its food do the talking.

Definitely perfect experience at restaurants We ate good food, lots of wonderful beers which recommended by manager. If someone wants to try Malaysian food, i can recommend this restaurant with no doubt. Thank you for your kindness 😁 + The food i love most was 'Beef masaman' 😄

Tried This Place 6years ago and went recently as well this is probably one of the best customer service with amazing food and drinks around the area ! I can still remember how polite the owners were! The portion of the food was generous as well 😌 will be back sometime soon ! Thank you

Authentic Malaysian food with flavours that will make your taste buds tingle. Some of the dishes really have a bit of a spicy kick. Order mains and entrées to share, so you can try many different dishes. Best to book a table, as it can be busy. Plenty of parking on main road. Excellent service

Amazing night I have with my partner. The food was delicious, and the staffs were meticulous, always moving around and checking every table and customer. The portion was right. We ordered plenty and ended up taking it home. If you like spicy, the sambal babi is a must-try. The fried noodles could have some more taste though.

Omg 🤤 came here after we seen a Facebook advert. So so so good… we had the whole Snapper with Asian slaw. Every dish was suburb, staff were super friendly! Great vegetarian/vegan options as well. You have to give them a try!

Lovely place to dine with family, Clean tidy and well decorated . dish portions are alright for the price. Tthis definitely hit the spot when it comes to the flavour’s origin for Malaysian food. Plus plenty of parking at dinner time.

We dined here for a double birthday celebration and the whole experience was superb! The staff were very attentive and I think it was the owner who we met she was lovely and helpful. You can tell that they take pride of the place and the food they served. We’ve been to Malaysia and the food is very similar and authentic. Our fave dishes would be their curries and the roti top notch - not too thick and oily and it was very light and yum! They even sang happy birthday to us and gave the kids free ice cream. Overall fantastic experience and will definitely be back!

BEST vegan options in the area, they have a separate vegan menu with 5 starters, 6 main and 4 deserts. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the staff is very friendly. The food is tasty and the portions are generous for the price. They have very good cocktails too. Ate there 3 times and loved it every time !

Lovely Dying to come again! Served with respect and loyalty. Mother had a birthday only told them its her birthday during a conversation. And was served with a lovely cake and ice cream. Best food I have had in Forever!

Amazing vegan options, fantastic beer range. We had the Momo's, steamed buns, vegetable curry, rendang curry, rotis, and for dessert the banana fritters with coconut ice cream and the mango and ginger sorbet. We loved everything! It wasn't too oily as one review had said. Would definitely recommend and we will return :)

Authentic Malaysian food which is fresh and yummy! I love this place. Well priced and they even do BYO! I have had numerous dishes and they have all been delicious.

Went here for dinner on a Saturday night and the place was buzzing. Chose pork bao for entree which were soft and really tasty. Shared Beef Massaman curry and the signature dish Golden Shield for mains with rice and roti on the side. Absolutely delicious. Rating was given a 4 only because of the noise volume due to the close proximity of diners to one another. Service and food was 5 star.

Service was great and the staffs were accommodating. We ordered fried pork and prawn wonton, Penang Curry Kapitan and Pork Belly. All of the food we ordered were delicious and we really enjoyed it. My only comment is that we waited for about 40 minutes for our entrees to delivered at our table. It was a full house so probably the kitchen is a bit busy

Nice ambience, food is tasty, fine dining experience of Malaysian food , the owners(James & Carol & family) and family is friendly, accomodating and make you feel like part of the family. The sittings are well placed with dividers and make it feel premium and the seats are comfortable 10/10 for comfort & atmosphere 10/10 for taste 8/10 for price (find it small portions for the price but however if you love fine dining and compare it with other find dinning, this place is value for money then the price is 10/10) 10/10 for friendliness and customer service (great rapport) 10/10 for cleanliness Overall 9.9/10 (sorry must be my Malaysian side which wants bigger portions) Food ordered: 1. Jumbo assam prawns $28 2. Char kuey teow (with 4 big prawns) $26 3. Coconut rice $4 4. Sambal belacan $2 5. Lamb Momos (amazing based sauce and this is lamb dumpling)$16 Nice for date nights.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere, the staff were great helping us choose our meal and giving us lots of tips. I was talked into having the special, it was very delicious. My partner is vegan and they had lots of options, the food came out really fast, which was great since we were starving!!

Had a nice dinner at Mulan Malaysian Restaurant Birkenhead. Owned by Malaysian Indian Chef and the lady boss is very friendly and approachable. Can taste from the curry that it is cooked from scratch and not from commercial packaging. Lady boss said they only use coconut milk in their cooking, no diary. Laksa not very spicy, little missy had a lot of the laksa noodle by herself.. the Penang Curry also not super spicy, kids friendly too.

Atmosphere was great, food was ok. Everything tasted like it had flour added… Tofu had no flavour, but Beef was very good

Literally one of the best Malaysian restaurants I have ever been to in NZ. Every dish has a bit of surprise and the saltiness / spiciness / sweetness is just right. Soooo good!

Delicious food, outstanding but not overwhelming flavours, unique dishes such as Cauliflower Poppers, Grilled Prawn & Papaya Salad. My main was The Market Fish, with flavours that keep you wanting more. Good size portions, well presented, fast service, friendly staff. I highly recommend Mulan Malaysian Restaurant in Birkenhead.

This is definitely one of the Best Restaurant in Auckland. I stayed in the city but when I came across this restaurant I just had to go and give it a try. It was a 15 minutes car ride or a 20 minutes bus drive from the central city to Mulan Restaurant. The food was amazing that I revisit again the next day to have a taste of the Laksa which I loved and their cocktails are amazing. Also do not forget to try their dessert, my favourite would be their white chocolate brownies. It was beyond everything and I would say it was the perfect dessert to end off the night. If someone who’s far away from home just on a vacation or is living in Auckland you should visit their restaurant as they have one of the best Malaysian food. The restaurant owner’s hospitality would be a 5 star, because that’s was how good they were My most favourite would be the “ Char kway Teow “ but nevertheless without a doubt i guess all their food would taste amazing
