A compact hilltop pagoda with glittering mirrored columns. Fortunately, restoration and maintenance in progress! Lovely views of the city and surrounds from the top level. Several curio and snack shops around. There's an elevator but we didn't use it.

Definitely a must visit in Mandalay. The hike up takes around 30-40 minutes and must be walked barefoot, which is not a problem. The view from the top is stunning and the pagodas beautiful

This is a beautiful Pagoda that is situated in a strategic spot on top of Mandalay Hill. If you want to take advantage of the views on the city and the surrounding areas, choose to go early in the morning to avoid the haze that comes after the weather warms up during the day. The building features intricate designs that use mirrors of many colors.

Best time to visit this place is in the morning or in the late afternoon when the weather is not so hot ,so you can fully enjoy the view.

I rented a bycicle to to get up here, it was heavy ride but the view is amazing enough to feel that it was worth it! I like to see from high ground what around me is. If you arrive to the top you can take a long stairs up or an elevator if you are too tired. See around Mandalay and the Naga statues.

Beautiful monastery located on the top of Mandalay hill. The inside of the monastery is covered in colored glass and mirrors which give it an unique sparkly look. It can be reached by climbing 700 odd steps or by bike / car and then an elevator. It is a good place to interact with local monks and university students who come to practice their english with foreigners.

Plenty of temple cats and a great view of Mandalay make this a favourite spot for sunset shots. Walking up the stairs from the bottom can be a bit exhausting especially if you take the steeper Western staircase. But there is also a lift nearby the car park if you happen to drive up.

You can't miss it if you stay in Mandalay. Very beautiful sunset with a peacful environment, you can sit down at the floor or stand at the side to enjoy the moment. But, you gonna prepare that you need to take the escalator uphill without shoes and have to borrow their slipper for the toilet, you have to pay 200kyat for toilet fee.

We went up to the peek to see the sunset. Since we arrived already at 3pm we were able to enjoy the view by ourselves before the place got crowded. Its nice to walk up there, which takes about half an hour. If you can’t walk that many stairs, you can go by car or take a taxi.

One of the nicest Pagoda we visited. Here is also a very famous sunset point, which is nice but if I had to choose I would prefer the Ubein point. Several monks were here to have a chat with tourist, which is always very instructive and interesting.

Nice hilltop pagoda with aeriel views over the city. We visited on a cloudy evening so it wasn't too busy. Sunset was still nice though. We paid 1000 kys tourist fee when we got to the top.

Highest place in the city. Good place for sunset (but honestly not spectacular). Very quiet these days as not much tourist come visit.

    Mandalay hill Pagoda

  • 5/5 Biswajit S. 4 years ago on Google
At the top of the hill is the Sutaungpyei (literally wish-fulfilling) Pagoda. A panoramic view of Mandalay from the top of Mandalay Hill alone makes it worthwhile to attempt a climb up its stairways. There are four covered stairways called saungdan leading up the hill from the south, southeast, west and north, and convenient seats of masonry work line these stairways all the way up. A one-way motor road today saves time and also makes it accessible for those who are unable to climb up the stairs, leading to an escalator and a lift to the pagoda at the summit.
