One of the best places in Austin to get you some BBQ. This place has such a cool vibe and great service. Make sure you dip whatever you order in that bucket of vinegar sauce they have next to all the meats. That stuff is phenomenal. We ended up trying a bit of everything. The sausage and brisket were some of my favorites but it all way good. Mac n cheese was top notch and nothing beats a little char on some corn on the cob. I didn’t have room for any cobbler unfortunately and that’s where I hear I messed up.

Had a pretty good time here. I got to town pretty late and found that this place was still open. It's a different kind of feel from your everyday restaurants. You don't go in and sit down to order from a menu, they are constantly cooking and you go up and pick what you want and how much right from the back. It's the same for the sides which they have several, including some dessert options. Then after you pay for your food you find a place to sit. It's very communal, and I found myself sitting at a table surrounded by a large group of people who were in town for a conference. We had a great conversation and enjoyed each other's company. I didn't expect this kind of experience from a restaurant but I think there should be more places like it. If you get the chance, I recommend you check this spot out.

Delicious BBQ! I knew once we stepped in that it’d be delicious. It smelled of smoky deliciousness, and the ambiance is southern and authentic. I’ve never had BBQ from a but like this so it was really cool to experience. They just grabbed whatever meat I wanted from The pit, and I paid per pound. The ribs were exceptional, the pork loin was good, and the brisket was just okay (It was a bit dry). Even the Mac and cheese was delicious! Would recommend, this was an awesome first stop for my first time in Austin.

It was nice rustic ambiance. There is one line to ordering meat, then sides. The seating is more bench type inside and there are more outside seating and upstairs. For meat: Brisket - 0.5lb - well seasoned and not dry. It was tad cold (we ate it on the spot), but thoroughly enjoyed it with the side if sauce. For sides: Mac and cheese - really rich and creamy, tad spicy. Coleslaw - nice refreshing with good crunch Peach cobbler + ice cream - it's a must, I opted to order it once I was done with main meal. However the ice cream is pretty well frozen (for take out I assume), you would be fine ordering it along with food. Free refill stations by drinks: Pinto beans (free station by drinks) - tad spicy was a good filler if you hungry Pickles, raw onion - a must to help break down all the fat and flavor pallets BBQ sauce (hot) - it is to my surprise warm and it helped heat up the brisket Overall, the experience was good. Staff was friendly and great. Recommend if you are in the area and craving some BBQ at decent price. I would like to come back and try out their porkchops.

The sides were amazing and that was some of the best mac n' cheese I have ever had! The meat was cooked and smoked and tasted damn good. The biggest drawback is their BBQ sauce. It tastes good but is basically water. You can't coat your BBQ in BBQ sauce. I just think this needs to be fixed or it feels like you are better off taking it to-go. BBQ sauce Cooper's! More options!

A great place that's pretty quick and easy to grab some old fashion bbq in downtown. We went during a Sunday dinner and waited 10 min to get to the front and order food. Ordered the half pound brisket and half beef pound ribs with 3 sides. Shared together between a friend, and we were stuffed! Once ordered, you can immediately eat up! Has bar, indoor, and outdoor seating. They also provide bread and pinto beans free.

This place gets packed very easily, so be sure to come earlier to find a spot to eat. For some reason, I paid extra. They overweighted the meat I ordered. I asked for half a pound and they charged me for a pound, so please double check… Also, the meat wasn’t as good as I expected. First time in Texas… I thought it would blow my mind. It was a bit average… the meat was not fresh out the oven. The best piece I had among none other that brisket and sirloin, was the sausage. Lastly, the mac and cheese was terrible. Not worth the price at all. Grab an extra beer instead. Overall, the ambience is great, so I would recommend it for that. I spent $40 for this tho…

Ridiculously good brisket! I adore their barbecue sauce! Update: we ate at a few more places and it has reiterated that this is our favorite. It was more flavorful and juicy than stubbs, they were the only place that gave you the option of what type of meat you wanted (as far as marbled or lean). It was also more flavorful but less sweet than Terry blacks. The macaroni and cheese was not my favorite but I actually really liked the peach cobbler! The service was also by far the friendliest and we felt the most comfortable.

Amazing! Diner here is fantastic quality and offers an different experience for exceptional socializing. Everything we ordered was exceptional. Don’t forgot the sauces for the meat they are simple but dramatically change the taste in a very nice way. If there is anything to complain about I would say the green beans don’t measure up to the rest of the experience.

This is really good BBQ - but if you’re expecting thick, sweet sauces or sweet BBQ baked beans you might need to look elsewhere. The brisket is tender and delicious and the sauces and sides were a pleasant surprise as I was expecting less vinegar but I LOVED it. The sauce is like a mix between franks hot sauce and sugar broth (tasty but vinegar style). The beans are not bbq baked, they’re super tasty pinto beans. The potato salad is closer to German potato salad which I prefer. Fantastic flavors and delicious brisket, but don’t expect sticky sweet sauces unless you get dessert!

The food here is outstanding to say the least. You will get more than enough to enjoy. Try the BBQ sauce and the baked beans that you pick up after you pay.

Fantastic place in downtown Austin for BBQ! You order meat by weight (the brisket that I got was super juicy and flavorful) and then you choose from a variety of sides (fries, baked potatoes, beans etc). Onion, pickles and bread as well as sodas/tea are free. Great selection of beers too! The setting was amazing, would highly recommend it!

I hadn't been to a BBQ restaurant that sells by the pound. I liked being able to pick out what I wanted to try and being able to specify portion size. My meal price ended up being higher than I was comfortable with ($49 for meat and two sides and a pickle). The best food was the pecan pie. Pork ribs were good. I'm not a fan of the house BBQ sauce or the pickle 🥒. Beef rib was my least favorite - watery and no flavor.

They have the meats. So, I'm going to preface the review by saying I'm from the Carolinas and it may be easy to impress me with TX BBQ. But the brisket here is excellent. The ribs were OK. The short rib looked amazing but I didn't see it when I was ordering meat. So I didn't get a chance to experience it. Bar staff is friendly. The drinks are reasonable, at least compared to where I'm from. I'm here in Austin for 5 days and I'm definitely going back.

Perfectly cooked BBQ. The beef ribs were very tender, and you could really taste the rub on the bark. Same thing with the brisket, it was juicy and had a great flavor. Nice atmosphere with plenty of tvs and a bar downstairs and upstairs. Located downtown and close to a lot of hotels and other restaurants.

Wasn't the best BBQ I've had, but it was pretty good. I got the brisket and the wife got the turkey. Sides are big enough for two or three people. They offer beans on the side for free. They were good. I would consider going back

Great location, easy to find! Fast and friendly service, I was surprised how many things are included, didn't realize it until we sat down (soft drinks, sliced pickles, jalapenos, BBQ sauce, bread.... wow!). This location is downtown! Lots of food options from beef, pork and chicken! Great unique taste, I will come back! BTW, pricing was per lb, boy was the pit guy accurate, look at the pricing labels!!

This is in downtown Austin TX and the food is AWESOME!! They have all the meat you could possibly want, the corn bread is perfection and all the sides are just fantastic. I could barely walk when we left this place!!! Definitely a great place for lunch or dinner if you are in the area!!

Friendly service and delicious food - exactly what you would expect! First enticed inside but the delicious smell of fresh BBQ meat, we were not disappointed in our decision. The brisket melts in your mouth, and the ribs were flavourful and juicy. A little expensive particularly on the sides, but overall the experience was perfect. Take it easy on the jalapeño peppers though!

I was super excited to try Texas bbq for the first time. I love smoking meats myself at home and do pretty well. My review of this place: - Beef rib was super dry and tasteless - Spare was salty as hell and bone dry - Sausage was impossible to bite dry - Brisket had so much fat within that it was half of the amount cut, portion was tender but most bark was unstable and salty af. All of the food looked like it was cooked while ago and reheated (maybe when it’s fresh in the early half of the day it may be better with more moisture) but salt and taste were all lacking. All the food in picture I posted would be worth 50 bucks if at least it was not bone dry or super salty. Hoping to visit Terry Blacks tomorrow (Uber recommended that spot to me today to see if it’s better)! Service was nice a quick so was the vibes of the place here. But food is a solid 1 star :(

We visited Coopers on a food tour while visiting Austin, first time having real Texas Brisket. Non pretentious, smoky flavorful and tender cuts of turkey, chicken pork and beef. The building was 20 percent of the experience with wax paper serving as your plate. Choose your cut: cost is listed in chalk on the wall, customary accompaniments are positioned along the cafeteria style line procession, Cole slaw, potato salad, green beans and Mac n cheese. There was live music played upstairs, so you can choose your level of stim.

Hopped off my plane from Nashville and headed straight to Cooper's! They said they are known for their brisket and that didn't disappoint. Great texture, moisture and bark. This is the main event. I also purchased jalapeno cheddar sausage and green beans. These were not noteworthy and left me wishing I had doubled down on the brisket. Meals are served with complimentary white bread, bbq sauce, pinto beans and jalapeno peppers which I loved. Gave 4 out of 5 stars to Atmosphere due to the loud pop music they played. Would have loved if they had served up some local fare (red dirt maybe?).

for me, barbecue is all about the sauce. This place doesn’t use a traditional thicker barbecue sauce. They use a smooth and thin vinaigrette. It has a barbecue flavor, but it just doesn’t feel like you’re eating barbecue. That being said everything else was literally perfect and one of the nicest places I’ve been to hospitality was on par with some of the best restaurants out here not to mention the options they had for sides were pretty good. The pinto beans that are free are actually really good. They also offer free bread, free pickles, and a few other free things.

Yeahhh meat! Nice concept, stand in line, order the meat you want and pay per ounce. Choose sides and a drink. Add beans and jalapeno to taste. I had brisket ***** and one piece of beef rib ***. Beef rib was very fatty, not so nice. The decor is basic, barn style. Atmosphere nice, people eating together. Spent close to 50USD. Could not finish all.

What can I say? This is the first time eating here. Went with 2 friends on the quick trip downtown. Ow before I start I want to mention apparently the beef ribs are worth a try but I wasn’t told until I already paid. Nonetheless, the brisket and sausage is great. The beans are free and unlimited. Cornbread is nice and sweet and Mac and cheese is on point. And of course the sweet tea finished everything off. I highly recommend.

First proper American BBQ experience, we have some BBQ spots in Australia run by American Pit masters so I have some kind of baseline but this was just impressive. Long queue but moved quickly, efficient ordering and great selection, we had Pork Loin, Beef Ribs, Chicken and Sausage and it was all executed brilliantly. Great service too 🙏
