Ordered two drinks it was 32$ so I asked for a receipt and my friend looked at it and saw a 7.50$ call charge he asked the bartender about it and the bartender said if you don’t like the price you can have a refund and leave. I then said okay give me a refund and he then turned to the other bartender and next thing I know I’m being escorted out in a chokehold for no reason. Will be looking to serve papers for damages to my neck if I’m not contacted and refunded.

Will never go back! I grew up in Austin I've been to almost every bar on 6th street and have never been treated this way. Went to jackalope on NYE and quickly ordered 2 drinks, they charged $32 which is fine its NYE but when I asked for a recipt and was surprised to see a call charge I asked what the extra fee was for and the Bartender Trevor C. that was serving us said he would just give a refund if we wanted and I agreed. Within a few seconds the Bartender Trevor and a 2nd Bartender rushed around the bar and started shoving us out, clearly shocked we paused and the Bartender Trevor hit one of our drinks onto the ground throwing it all over our group soaking me and started shoving us out when the 2nd Bartender threw my friend -who has back troubles- into a headlock and very aggressively drug him out when we were already very clearly leaving (all this for asking about the extra fee and accepting the refund that was offered?!). Even more sad we spoke to the door guy and told him the whole situation and he wasn't even shocked it seems like he's seen this many time before! Worst experience on 6th street by far!!

Unless you’re white, I’d avoid this bar like the plague. Was using the restroom and about to head to the bar to get a drink with my brother in law and we were told by a white, old man behind the bar to never step foot in there again. Never giving this place my money ever gain.

We were seeing a comedy show for a venue a few steps from this place and we wanted a quick bite and perhaps a drink or two. We were searching for any place that mentioned food and this was the first place we saw that mentioned a good burger per a food network I believe. We stepped in and it was very loud, but we were initially ok with that. It's a rock bar from what we could tell so what would you expect. We sat down and watched other people come in and sit down as well. The place was fairly empty though, I would say 7 people including us. While we waited we searched for menus on the table, maybe a QR code for an online menu. It really did take a while for us to notice no one had acknowledged us and after a few minutes more it set in that we were not even going to get a "hi" or "this is how this place works." If there is not table service you would think someone would let you know how ordering works or someone would actually be behind the bar. I saw one person that looked like they actually worked there but was running around in the back so I never caught anyone to at least talk to. We walked out and found another place to eat and drink. Review for The Vulcan Gas Company and Iron Catcus in their respective Google maps sections.

Was walking around sixth and randomly asked a bouncer where was a good spot to grab a bite. He immediately pointed to Jackalope and he was right on the money. Food was good and drinks were decently priced. Really enjoyed the fries. Not too many places give you some quality seasoned fries but Jackalope won't fall short. The bartenders constantly asked if we were taken care off and the live music was entertaining.

Just want to write a warning for everyone. Be aware of theses bartenders here at night. I have had two separate incidents where the bartenders try to steal money from me. One chick try to keep my change and said she gave it back to me and one night a guy has charged my account a 100 bucks for two drinks .

I went here for lunch and it was okay. The burgers don’t come with any sides but the drink specials are great and the bartenders are heavy handed :). If you’re not a regular you will be passed over a little while they chat.

I stumbled into this place in August 2013 and had one of the best burgers of my life. Since then I've been back to Austin a few times scouring the streets searching for this place and finally of found it on Sunday. Punk rock music and the best hamburger or chicken sandwich in the city.

VERY FUN PLACE!!!! The vibe was good! Urban music and atmosphere. Younger crowd, but some older people were there enjoying themselves. Drinks are small and a lil pricey. Pretty crowded on Saturday. Line was out the door, but moved fast.

It was a bar. It served alcohol and had a giant jackalope you could take photos on. Wife liked her cocktail, the reverse cowgirl. Definitely gets rowdy late night and stops serving food, unsure what time.

It was my first time going last night. I had a lot of fun, the staff is super nice and the music/DJ is also great. I went with a group of friends to celebrate a birthday and we had this random come up to our table tryna give us a drink. The bouncers had quickly spotted him and took him away from us. I really appreciate that! Thank you all ❤️

Very disappointed, when they wouldn’t let me in pajama pants. It’s how I feel most comfortable. This ruined my experience. So when you go into this place make sure they are dressed to there standards not yours….

Lovely dive bar, hole in the wall vibe, very nice and friendly bartenders. They have a giant shareable cocktail, good for party of 4+. Good food too. We visited here on a Saturday afternoon and found 2 hour street parking which is really convenient. In the bar they also have a huge Jackalope which you can ride!

My favorite bar in Austin!! I LOVE THE JACKALOPE!! Super chill friendly vibe! I found them from triple D(Diners, Drive-In’s, and Dives). The drinks and food was really good! The bartenders Nico and Sarah were the best! They were super fun and nice! They made great cocktails. Highly recommend The Jackalope to wet your whistle or grab a bite to eat!

My favorite bar on 6th street. Good drinks and a decent beer selection. Dive bar for sure but great food. Precovid, this was a great spot for lunch. Hope they start opening for lunch during the week again.

It’s your typical dive bar. Decent drinks, good crowd, good music. Didn’t feel like it was worth the hype or the reviews. There were better ones out there on 6th street that were better. It mainly depends on the vibe you are looking for. No entry fee at the time we visited. So there was more crowd than usual.
