Mixed feelings; way too heavy I've heard many good things about this place but I wasn't blown away. The food is good, but heavy, and at times unpleasantly non-traditional. For example, I like my beef tartar ground, not in chunks like Hawaiian poke; that needs an immediate change! The chickens skins were flavorful, but sooo greasy it affected my stomach. Fries with mules is a great idea but no one in France does it THAT spicy and with so little mules; execution falls short. Even their cheese board was a bit underwhelming when you look at the price and content. So, it was OK, but I seriously make better European-style food at home that doesn't give me a heart attack every day.

Terrible terrible food. I don’t understand how they priced their items. The avacado toast was super greasy and tasted like gasoline. The omelette was so disgustingly greasy. The fries were cold and tasted like rubber.

31 Aug ‘23 Started with a kir royale (cassis with Andre Delorne sparkling wine). It was well proportioned and excellent. It’s a simple thing, but so many places don’t get the proportions, right. Bartender was excellent and very knowledgeable. Enjoyed the steak frites it was a nice filet medium rare. Loved the stock of different types of gin at the bar — I had two Austin sours, nice cherry flavor from the Luxardo gin. I enjoyed a small glass Firestone Walker Parabola (2022). Had the crème brûlée which was very nice indeed. I love the atmosphere, and enjoyed Junior Brown and other “real” stuff in rotation on the music. The flatware and plates were even nice too. Overall a great space, great menu and excellent bartending.

Food was good - definitely on the heavier side. I got the lobster roll which I thought was just fine for the price, the mussels and the Bolognese were really good. Two dishes did come out cold but the server comped a few of our drinks. Food was a bit expensive.

This cute restaurant/bar is deceptively large with a shady outside patio. We placed our order at the bar and our food was served to us on the patio. We ordered a large French onion soup (sorry. No photo.), a jambon buerre, a Pascal hamburger, and salade niçoise. All choices were delicious. The aioli and fries were terrifically garlicky! There is an extensive beer menu. I’ll definitely be back when I return to Austin!

I stumbled on this place having diner at the place next door. The atmosphere is nice, the bar staff we super friendly, and they had a really great selection of brews on tap. I didn’t get a chance to try anything on their food menu, but what I saw being served look delicious. I’ll be back for food and brews the next time I’m town.

Hopfields is a very unique experience with the vintage decor and serving pieces, and the decidedly unique menu. Deep fried chicken skin is pretty rare in Austin! We enjoyed the Fig and burrata board as an appetizer. It came with 4 tiny slices of baguette and we were charged an extra $3.50 for the additional few slices of baguette that we asked for. I really hate when they do that. Mushroom leek tart was delicious. We tried out some unique beers that were pretty good. Crème brûlée was okay. I expected better. Americano was delicious! I would go back for the coffee.

It's ok. My friends and I went here for dinner and got a variety of dishes. I got the French onion soup which was a little too salty and the baguette was thin, overall OK. My friends' orders didn't look very appetizing to me, but I didn't try it, so take my review with a grain of salt. That being said, I don't think anyone complained about the flavor - it was ok. My big gripe here is the prices. It's highway robbery. My soup was $18. Their burger is $19. If the prices were cheaper I'd see myself giving the place another chance and trying something else.

What a great little gem of a place with delicious food and craft cocktails. We had a wonderful meal and the bartender Brice made us feel welcomed! We had mussels in a delicious wine sauce with garlic pomme frites, French onion soup perfect for a cloudy weather and an array of desserts. The Brown Rabbit espresso martini was perfection…not too sweet, smooth and delicious. Thumbs up!

I enjoyed my Saturday brunch while sitting near the bar at a booth with my daughter. The draft IPA I tried was great, as was my meal which was an eggs benedict but with beef cheeks (excellent). Plus it had a nice salad with it that paired well. My daughter had the crepes, and while she wanted more Nutella, I thought it was an appropriate amount. The staff were cordial and inviting. I will come here more often.

This is such a charming place! The atmosphere is definitely unmatched. The food is okay, not nothing overly amazing. However the presentation is great. Our server was so polite and accommodating even though we were literally there for 3 hours. I’d love to come back here. It’s a great place for a date.

Visited the place on Sunday for brunch. It was not busy. We ordered Benedict and Burger, both are good but the portion of Benedict was too small for me. Plus there was a hair in the fries but we didn’t say anything. Cider was good.

I've been looking for another French restaurant since Chez Nous closed. I think Hopfields might be the replacement. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting. It looks like a great spot to bring a group of friends to enjoy a meal and each others company. Forewarned, it is a little expensive. A full dining experience for two people with 2 apps, 2 entrees, 1 dessert, and 4 drinks will cost two people $200+. The steak tartar was flavorful, I can say their French onion soup is my second favorite. I see they have a Full English Breakfast. I am looking forward to trying it. We will be back!

A great spot with two vibes once inside The front is a bit more busy with more noise while the back is more quiet and calm. Neither was off putting and both are great places to enjoy this fantastic restaurant. The food and drinks were very well executed and so delicious. There is a large selection of beers on tap along with excellent wine and cocktails to choose from. The escargot dumplings were incredible and the beef bourguignon was melt in your mouth tender and delicious. Uber is probably better than driving as parking is a bit of a challenge, but the trip is absolutely worth it.

One of the top to go French restaurants of choice in town. Especially if you want a less crowded places for a more romantic setting. The place has great mood lighting for dates or family style meals or just grabbing a quick fare with friends or coworkers in their 3 partitions. The Entree menu changes seasonally and the quality and portion of food for the price are very well justified. I have never left feeling hungry but always have felt satisfied. The wine listings are wide and really good and the server recommendation pair really well with the food.

Amazing selection of craft beers and wine. They always do a great job of keeping the beer menu up to date. The ambiance is charming and patrons are diverse across any number of characteristics. Food is really excellent here as well. Tried the vegan muscles and fries which was surprisingly spicy and a bit oily if I'm being honest. But they tasted great together and we uses the left over sauce and oil to make a killer vegetable stir fry at home. Will always be one of our favorites but it is expensive.

I felt like it might have been a bit of a silly order to get a burger at a fancy French restaurant, but I don’t at all regret my decision. The burger was unique and delicious, and it even came with a very generous portion of fries. We also ordered some appetizers, and desserts. All of them were delicious. Highly recommend ending the meal with a crème brûlée.

Definitely "french" inspired. The ratatouille came out hot and was pretty good. Food took 30 minutes per plate. You'll easily spend hours here waiting for food. Their chicken and potatoes aren't worth it. The onion soup is strong and hot.

I stopped by before going to the airport. This place has been on my list of places to try and I wish I skipped it. I ordered the pascal burger with a side salad, and my boyfriend ordered the French Italian sandwich with fries. Pascal burger -- Very mediocre. I had asked for medium-rare and got a very well-done burger. The flavor was okay, but the burger was very dry. French Italian -- The sandwich itself was extremely dry with maybe 2 slices of thin deli meat on it. The fries were fantastic and the only redeeming quality. I wouldn't bother coming here, especially with the high prices. We also just got back from France and this food was definitely not authentic.

Let me get straight to it ... we attended a late art exhibit, so I do appreciate Hopfields being open to accommodate our late night dining needs. That's the positive. Technically, yes, maybe this is a 'French' restaurant, albeit there are no tablecloths, no linen napkins and no servers, in fact, we had to order at the bar AND open a tab which if you don't close gets a 20% gratuity tacked on! Our food prep/delivery was very slow as well. 10 minutes of which I could see it sitting in the window. The scotch egg appeared to be cooked thoroughly but not quite upon dissection. The lamb bolognese was very basic with no imagination and was missing flavor (think Fazoli's) and had entirely too much sauce. The mushroom leek tarte was actually pretty tasty, but nothing on our 4 item $80 tab was worth it and quite frankly, this was just another example why I should just choose to eat at home.

The good: open for late dining, spacious, multi-room seating, uncommon dishes. The bad: sticky table; cold food that should be hot (understaffed shift?)-> slow, although - friendly, service; undercooked dish (per my taste, the Scotch egg meat was raw, tho under the crunchy upper crust; the egg was not warm as expected); overpriced; (alas! another) unimaginative dessert menu.
