This place is a disappointment. Most of the positive reviews for this restaurant are nostalgic, and need to be updated. The service here is about as bland as the seasoning they use on the hamburgers. The food is not terrible, but nothing stands out that would make me want to return, especially for the price. All of the sides are a la carte, so nothing is included with a burger or sandwich. The small order of onion rings is $4.25 and only includes (5) onion rings!!! AND THEY ARE FROZEN GENERIC GARBAGE What a joke. Why in the world would anyone spend time and money here when C & A is a 200ft walk away? Add some seasoning to your burgers. Try slicing up a real onion, dipping it in buttermilk/flour/seasoning before frying it, and give your customers a better quality product, or at least a better portion for their money. Why would you serve frozen breaded onion rings when a fresh alternative is cheaper? Laziness is most likely the answer. Over priced food. Nothing impressive. Spend your money somewhere else.

The bartenders/servers were rude, disrespectful, and dismissive of not only my party of 4, but also of patrons that followed us. The food is not worth the price and is average at best. This was the absolute worst dining experience I have had in my 4 years living in Austin.

This place is where my peers and I would go after class, sometimes during class while attending UT Austin. The owner JV still runs the counter 20+ years later and carries that same friendly, folksy and fun attitude like no time had ever passed. JV, his staff, and Posse East make for an Austin treasure that allow you to step back in time in a city which has surrendered itself to unfettered growth. Step in on a hot day and enjoy a cold beer poured by good folks!

Expect something very old-fashioned, in a way that helps you chill in this fast-changing world. They serve awesome food and beers whatever you try. Ask the manager if you are not sure of which one to try, which is another fun you will enjoy at Posse East.

Nothing but greatness, the best sports bar in Austin.... the other ones are so generic...posse is laid back and easy to get to, lots of room to spread out and a bunch of TVs. The food is perfect.. burgers.. tacos.. chicken fingers etc etc... lots of beer selections. I came by the other day and brought memories of my time on campus.. You can be inside with Heat or AC or outside, either way it's great... you can bring in your favorite pet as well.. Careful with parking, you may have to park and pay on the street but that's allright walking is part of the fun plus it's good for your heart. Remember this bar is on campus so you'll have UT pictures and memorabilia all over the place.. I'm just happy that they are still around... I'll be back and I'll send as many people as I can.. don't go anywhere else come here.. eat a lot and drink a lot.. spend all your money here... all of it!!!

I was worried that after the huge influx of people in Austin, when I returned to my fav college bar after 20 years absence, it too would be overflowing with people. Just the opposite. Someone turned this once active college bar into a dull, boring "televised sports" bar full of old, married men who should've been home with their families, not watching TV reliving their glory days from high school. Food was cold, beer was not. Hats were... redder than they were orange. Not the old school Austin University bar I remember... at all.

Love this place. We came with no warning and 50+ guests, and they were more than happy to accommodate us. They even stayed open another 2 hours as we were having such a great time. Thank you!!!

The burgers are cheap and tasty and so is the beer. Lots of outlets if you’re looking to hang a while and study but also a great place to watch the game indoors or outside.

I like the place. Inexpensive and such a typical bar/eatery. Close to the UTexas Law school. The chalupas and beef tacos meet expectations. The service is fast. Trivia nights on Wednesdays.

UT old skool hangout with fairly priced beer but a limited selection along with bar food.

Always fun to watch the longhorns here. Great beer selection and yummy pub grub. They were out of veggie burgers πŸ” πŸ˜• but I had a blast and enjoyed the bean and cheese nachos.

Excellent Food. Ate "to go" so I don't really know atmosphere but walking in there the vibes were chill and peaceful.

I'm biased about posse, it was the bar my friends and I from band would go to in college, so it's always nostalgic for me. But they do have a good selection of beer, a spread of food options and plant of screens to catch all the sorts you want! Also the beer is not easy over priced like other places.

I was in the ETC bldg for close to 10 years and have great memories of stopping by for breakfast tacos and burgers. Also have great memories of the great John B Goodenough (Nobel laureate) regularly stopping by for his burgers for lunch even when he was in his 80s. Great food, great crowd, great UT institution.

Many great friend gatherings here at the Posse in years past for pregame and post work. Good beer and pub grub. Stopped by today for a Turkey Sheriff, tots and a side of nostalgia. As always, everything hit the spot.

Been eating here since I was 12 years old. Burgers are incredible. Catch a UT game here with a pitcher of beer!

I like the food and vibe. Lots of history. Very friendly staff I ordered desperado with tater tots below $10 and it was very good.

It's a place to drink beer. Service is "order at the bar". People smoked right next to us. The beer was good. 501 IPA. I had no food.

Ordered the wagyu burger. Worst burger I have ever had. So dry, tasted previously frozen for too long. I was so excited to try this place since we live close. Honestly, worse than school cafeteria burger quality. Tater tots weren’t much better. Glad I didn’t have friends with me or I would have felt so bad.

From the reviews, I was expecting this place to have good burgers/cheesy tots & friendly service. However, the people working the bar were unwelcoming & sarcastic. Idk if they had a bad day, but they were not friendly. The burger was ok, but the tots not so much. There was also a cockroach crawling around under our table. And the vibe of the place just felt very depressing overall.

Had great time here last weekend in our happy hour. We stayed outside, it had a fan so it was cool. Only thing is that some of the bartenders were a bit rude!! Hence a 3 star. But the beer and food were good.

Used to go here in the 90's... still great atmosphere, good beer selection and burgers were still good.

I love love love Posse East. Have since being in school (too many) years ago. I don't recommend the fish and chips, but otherwise everything is great - service, food, drinks, atmosphere.

Best Burgers & young crowd, casual atmosphere. The burgers are thick & juicy, are freshly made, onion rings are nice & crispy, variety of foods & beers. They have indoor & outdoor dinning areas that have designated smoking tables. Friendly dogs are allowed. Very crowded during UT football games. No wonder it's been in business for 50 years & survived the pandemic shut down.

This is one of my favorite places to grab some greasy food between class. Chili cheese tots are great. Laid back, chill and real close to campus, its a good spot to eat at. There's an indoor and outdoor seating area and TV's all over the place if you want to watch a game.
