I go for the food and the arcade game at the bar. They have a small assortment of small plates, but the ones they have are super good. They have a hand spun milkshake that is worth stopping in for. The whole point of this place is to play board games and I haven’t even done that yet 😝

I have been a fan of Vigilante since before it even opened. I met the owner at a gaming event and immediately thought the idea was amazing. I have been going for years and have always been a fan. They have continued to work to always make the experience better. They have turned a good menu into a great menu. Continued to provide an excellent game library and always had wonderful Service. I was very worried when Covid hit that it would be doom for this restaurant. However they have been able to remain open and I appreciate their dedication to keeping their staff and patrons safe during the chaos of the last couple years.

A hidden gem! $5 per person gets y’all access to their impressive game library that has options for the most casual, lowkey board gamer to those looking to settle in for a multi-hour knock-down-drag out. The cocktails range classic to imaginative (sage ice cubes?!) but they’re all good. Staff is fun and helpful and everyone seems to actually care about games. Truly love this place!

The private room only runs about $100 to rent all night, and it has a SECRET DOOR. The menu is mostly small snacks, with a few burgers and sandwiches. My friends particularly enjoyed the fresh baked cookies. There are lots of cocktails and drinks, I recommend the Bird of Prey. Most of the menu is actually a list of board games you can borrow and play with your friends. A definite recommend if you enjoy board games.

Amazing games, great staff, and fantastic vibes. We were able to book a BOOKCASE ROOM which is in itself cool. Ordering menu items in 3's gets you a discount and you can stagger or have all items come out at once. The quality of the food and drinks are great and the portions are good enough to try multiple items. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to try new games and not having to buy them!

Vigilante’s been one of my favorite Austin spots for years. As someone who loves going out and playing games, but doesn’t care for buying them or memorizing rules, their game menus and game sommelier/guides make all that super-easy. The food is always so good, the ambience (and private rooms!) are fantastic, it’s right off the train station, and they have a stellar balance of strict COVID protections indoors + more flexible options on the patio. Truly can’t recommend them enough. 🙌🎩

They had a great game master who described how to play the games. We liked that a lot. Additionally, they had small plates of food which were nice snacks. I like the price of $5 for unlimited games. Will come back.

Love coming here for game night! $5 per person for unlimited games. They help you find a game that is catered to what you are looking for. The game options are amazing and the food is phenomenal. The drinks are a bit more expensive than usual, but it's worth it when you're sipping on them playing games with your friends. Really great atmosphere and a good location up North!

Absolutely love this place. Great small plates at reasonable prices, good drinks, great atmosphere and helpful staff. We love the game menu and the instruction/demonstration on how to play new games. I want to go here more often!

We chanced upon this place when we were up that way (went to costco and 99 ranch market and wanted to go to dosa shack but didn't realize they weren't open on Sundays). So we looked around for anything open that was reasonably highly rated. The food was super tasty. The service was friendly and prompt. A unique set up where you can come and play board games for a few hours. Love the concept. We absolutely loved the samosas and the gyozas. Kids loved the hugs and nugs (nuggets) and fries. Would love if they added some steam veggies to their menu like broccoli or cauliflower :) Everything is made in house and I love this too about this place. The plates are small ish and priced accordingly. But keep in mind, if you're a big eater a few $9 to $11 plates will add up fast. Especially when the food is so delicious! The drinks, we didn't order any alcohol so can't comment on them. The mocktails we ordered I liked but my friend didn't like hers... I tasted hers and liked hers too and I believe she didn't like the strong sage taste that was in her drink. Wasn't super sweet like most mocktails though which again I like. The long and short is - With a witty and cute menu, I like this place and highly recommend giving this place a try. We liked or loved everything we ordered.

I don’t think I have ever done a review but this place definitely made me want to do one! I flew in from out of state and my brother and I wanted to play D&D. He had found Vigilante on google of all places and we decided to purchase two seats for one of their one shot D&D sessions. From the moment we walked in the door we were blown away by the atmosphere and ambiance. The amount of effort that went into providing an unforgettable experience has had me thinking of it ever since. We enjoyed mostly drinks during our session and the locally brewed beers were all cold, refreshing, and more choices than you could have at one sitting! We also enjoyed some cocktails that were all made to perfection. The staff was all smiles and helped finish off the amazing visit! Thank you very much to Tyler for being our amazing DM! 10/10 MUST recommend!

Excellent food and genuinely nice service. I sat at the bar and chatted with the bartender who was welcoming and happy to talk. The menu is really good—they settled on some favorites that any pub-goer will approve of. The kitchen/bar area needs some sort of restaurant fly control product though.

Vigilante is a gem of a spot where the magic of gaming comes to life. Every Tuesday, I’m greeted by the infectious energy of Bex, who ensures every game night is a blast. Kinsey’s warm welcome makes you feel right at home, while RJ’s passion for games is downright inspiring. Sara’s attention to detail makes every visit smooth and enjoyable. And let’s not forget Rob, whose culinary creations are as imaginative and delightful as the games we play. The staff here, including so many others, truly make Vigilante a haven for gamers. The atmosphere is electric, the community is welcoming, and the experiences are always top-notch. A big shout-out to the entire team for making every visit a five-star adventure!

This place is incredible. It's everything you could want in a gaming lounge smashed together with a full-service restaurant and bar. They have game-masters on staff so you don't have to burn through precious time learning the games by reading the instructions. Expect to drop some money here. Everything is reasonably priced but it adds up quickly when you factor in the small size of the plates and the cover charge for playing games.

Perfect date night or hangout for some nerds! We went for my partner’s birthday, made a reservation in advance (free but not required) and had a great time!!!! The staff were all super knowledgeable, approachable, kind, and cool! The space was super easy and laid back for someone with social anxiety, and I definitely want to go back soon! The atmosphere and aesthetic was so cool and dramatic, the design inside is a good combination of modern nerd and old school. The food was actually so good, I really recommend the Thai Fighter! Getting 3 dishes plus 3 drinks plus the game pass and with tip it was about $80. Not bad at all, and definitely gonna be somewhere we return soon :) Definitely my new favorite game bar in Austin!

I am a big fan of this place. I have played DND in a private room - amazing. I have attended a DND drag showed twice, hosted here - amazing. I have only had the food/drinks once but they were all delish!

So many great games to choose from. Great service, the staff take the time to explain to you how to play the game so you don't have to read instructions. Good snacks and I like the chocolate milkshake. Nice vibes.

LOVE THIS PLACE! The food and drinks are so good! The ambiance is to die for, all the board games are so much fun, I recommend zombie dice. The way the service works and lighting up a button to call them is amazing.

Great idea but could be executed better. Really expensive per person. We had to pay $80 to reserve a table for 8 people then $5 additional per person for board games even if you don't play theirs. There is a 3 course option for $3 less but you have to order all 3 courses at once. Drinks were mediocre, we had 8 people and only 2 drinks were good out of the variety ordered. We had fun overall but won't be going back.

What a gem. Great cocktails, generous draft selection, and great variety of eats. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Didn't realize the games part until we got there, fun addition. The food came quick, was fresh and thoughtfully prepared. Definitely coming back!

How have I not reviewed my favorite place yet???? If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Been coming to vigilante weekly for their D&D nights for the past 2 years. Every week it's a delight. The staff is extremely friendly, the community is fantastic, and the atmosphere (especially in their secret rooms) is amazing. The food is delicious! My only complaint is that the portion sizes are slightly small, but it's yummy enough to balance it all out. They also have a very creative menu and always are experimenting on new ideas and seasonal dishes. Would definitely recommend eating here.

Our servers were absolutely wonderful and the Game Master was so helpful when teaching us each game! I was there celebrating my birthday with my friends, and the server upgraded us to a secret room for the night! It was such a lovely gift to be upgraded to one of your awesome rooms on my birthday. We will definitely be back again and hope to check out any fun events that come up as well! Keep up the amazing work and cool atmosphere!

We have always had the best time here. Food is a little pricey and the portions are smaller (to accommodate for tabletop gameplay), but the food is tasty (+7 to the drink menu), staff is great, the game options are infinite and there is always someone there to help you choose or understand the rules to a game. Highly recommend for a group of friends or even just a couple. You have the option to invite a new player to your table, if you're looking to meet new people. Very unique hangout if you like games, food and fun!

We love this place and try and go every time we're in town! A lot of thought clearly went into every aspect of the customer experience and the whole place is very well designed. The menu is delicious, full of puns, focuses on small bites spaced throughout the evening. The plates and cups fit into separate sections of the custom game tables so that they don't get in the way of your board games. Speaking of, their collection is very well curated, updating over time and providing a wide range of experiences and complexity levels that are all still appropriate to the mood and time constraints of a night out. The decor is very fun and appropriately geeky. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and you can call them to your table with the press of a button so that they interrupt your games as little as possible. Overall a fantastic destination for a fun evening out.

It’s been a few years since I had been here, but on a whim I decided to change locations and bring my motley group here for a special dungeons and dragons session. The pandemic closure really allowed this place to fancy up even more than before. It was great a few years ago, but you can tell a lot more love has been added. The remodel is awesome. Speaking of more love, the menu has just gotten better. The burgers were amazing, and the milkshakes will make you put your game on pause. The staff is just the right amount of attentive, and Preston is as always a cordial host. You really feel at home here. For most of my group it was their first time here, and they all loved it. I feel guilty not coming here more often, it’s a decent ride from south Austin, but last nights visit reminded me why it’s worth it. Thanks for being part of Austin, Vigilante. I’ll be back soon!

EXCELLENT concept, food, service, and game options with super nice bathrooms!!! My partner an I had an awesome date here and I’ve been wanting to return since. Vigilante’s not only a great date spot but they’re also good for large groups, and they offer private speakeasy-style rooms for private events. I’ll definitely be returning, soon.

I've been here a few times and I can't even begin to explain how amazing it is. The staff treats everyone like they personally know them, a huge selection of games, and the food is always really good and a really great price! I also love that you can reserve a table/room or you can just walk up. Great place and always a guaranteed fun night!

Nice place if you're into card games. Food is smaller portions but quality food. Cookies are freshly baked per order. Con: greeter will ask for your vaccination status on arrival and ask to wear a mask when not seated.
