Absolutely phenomenal tasting menu experience. I went on a Thursday and sat at the chef’s counter. The service was impeccable. The place was so cute and clearly has a lot of history. Watching the mastery take place in the kitchen was a truly enjoyable experience. I cannot rave enough abt the food, the plating, the flavors and the portions. I left feeling absolutely happy and satisfied. Thanks for having me!!

Chef's tasting menu. Seminal experience. Chelsea was an amazing waitress. Lindsey was very warm, kind and we enjoyed our visit. The food was next level. Put this place on your bucket list. The talent in the kitchen is obvious. Elegant, sophisticated, whimsical without being pretentious.

Food and service were fantastic. The servers and kitchen staff worked together like a well-oiled machine. The only negative was the forced valet parking. (The lot had plenty of spaces, but they all had cones blocking them and the valet would just move a cone and park your car in that spot.)

I had such an incredible time here with a large group of friends. The staff was so attentive and kind during our stay (which was quite long) so that is very much appreciated. We were able to add a few dishes to our tasting menu. The dishes all popped with such robust flavor and we all left full. Highlights were the yellowtail crudo, mushroom chip, confit duck leg, shiitake skewers, and the last dessert: Masa tres leches. (This dessert was euphoric, seriously incredible) We had many drinks throughout the night as well. Thanks for the experience and the flavorful, fresh food!

Went there with two friends. We had the tasting menu without the wine pairing. We spent much time arguing about which dish was the best! The meats were cooked to perfection and the flavor combinations were on point. Nothing was disappointing. The food was so good that I think Barley Swine could potentially have a Michelin star, if Michelin ever decided to publish a guide for Texas. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, excellent service.

Exceptional dishes, excellent service. The restaurant is top notch. Extremely innovative dishes that will give you a unique dining experience with each new tasting menu. While the appetizers were only ok, the main courses shined brightly. Several dishes were worth the cost of the evening. In addition to the flat charge of 105 per person, there were also several dishes that could be added to the evening. If you are good with some fish bones, the yellow tail collar is a must try. The wine pairing was good as it had some unique varietals, but nothing was earth shattering. For 55 dollars, it was well worth the cost. Bottom line: If you have the dollars and can get a reservation, check out this restaurant.

Perfect last dinner before leaving Austin. I had a lot of good food when I was here, but this place is head and shoulders above all of the other places. All of the dishes were taste bombs, and the paired wines made it all even better. Service was extraordinary and extremely attentive. The place itself has a very nice and cosy atmosphere. I recommend to get a seat at the kitchen counter to witness the well oiled machine of an experienced kitchen in action.

I loved everything about this place! I wish they had one in Seattle. Sat at the counter and got to watch the chefs synchronize with one another. Every dish was outstanding and amazing service.

There’s plenty to rave about here—the textures and the connection to your food as you navigate through Barley’s tasting menu; the warm greeting and conversational staff; the well-harmonized effort going on in the energetically exposed kitchen—make no mistake, Barley Swine should be a major contender for Austin’s first Michelin star restaurant. Barley Swine is the best restaurant I’ve been to in Austin, and I cannot wait to go back.

Main dining room experience. I’m happy I followed advice and didn’t book outside, not worth it with this heat. We could have easily enjoyed our dining experience at the bar or chef counter. It’s a delicious treat that will leave you satisfied so definitely go hungry. We did the 7 course and added the dumplings supplement, it was a lot of food but the broth dumplings were so fun to eat. We should have ordered the to go cookies at the beginning just an FYU as they take 30 min to bake. A great way to remember the meal at home and share some with the rest of the family. We celebrated our 8th anniversary and had a lot of fun having a different type of dinner. Parking was easy on a Sunday, not crowded which we loved and oh forgot to mention that we booked 5:30 and left at 7:40 so do plan around that. It takes time but it is gooood! My big con has nothing to do with food. The restrooms were clean but the handsoap was one of those cheap pink ones that leave a terrible scent which makes you question why so much attention to food, service and somehow they forgot that? A lot of people don’t care for this but to me that is a huge deal. I guess My review would be titled be prepared toto spend a couple hundred per person, love the food and bring your own hand soap. See? Not cool. I’m karening now so I will leave it at that. Kudos to the kitchen and service team, these turtledoves had a meal to remember. Can’t wait to see what’s the next seasonal menu.

This restaurant is always a hit. Their tasting menus and service are outstanding. My only complaint would be the prices. Currently $115 for their tasting menu but if you can spare it you will definitely enjoy the experience. Drinks a bit on the higher end too but again they are tasty. Just a refreshing change from regular menu dining. There were 3 of us so thats why you see 3 items on the plates in some of the pictures. You won't leave hungry but not overstuffed either. Well done Barley Swine!

Fantastic tasting menu. Most def go with the wine pairing. Also must order the Caviar from the menu. Ask the server to pour you some champagne with that Caviar. If you do tasting menu, they’ll probably offer that anyway.

I’ve been to tasting menus at Artisans and Degust in Houston, and let me tell you the team at Barley Swine is simply incredible. They are a literal well oiled machine. Watching them work in the kitchen together is an art and so cool to watch. My wife doesn’t like fish but loved all of the fish served here. Every dish was just so good. We had a lot of fun for our anniversary and will certainly be back in the future.

Nice little place. Food was good. The menu is a 9 course tasting menu with a couple of add on course options. Ecletic atmosphere, good music, staff is allowed dress in regular clothes. You must valet, all other parking spots are reserved for the restaurant next door. Overall, for the price of the meal, I expected a more fine dining experience.

So impressed with the flavors, presentation, and talent here. We had a front row high top to watch the kitchen action, including the wood flames for searing and the center Island for the meticulous plating. We were first timers. We will definitely be back!

A fantastic and totally unique tasting menu experience. The dishes were delicious and had some of the most intriguing flavors and presentations I have seen in a while. The menu changes monthly, so will definitely be back to try new ones. Service was impeccable, and the staff were excellent. Grab a seat at the Chef's counter for a remarkable experience.

My husband and I came here for a birthday celebration. It was our first time trying a tasting menu, and the food was fantastic. I also loved that they had mocktails on the menu! We did not add any extras, and we were full at the end of the meal. Great experience and would definitely go back for a special occasion!

Major foodie here. Their tasting menu is by far one of my favorites in austin. My husband and I went on our first date here 6 years ago and i swear it gets better. Great, knowledgeable staff. Great wine selection! And food is just phenomenal!

One of the best meals we have had in the US to date. Great friendly service in with a great atmosphere. Highly recommend booking the kitchen counter so you can watch the chef’s do their thing.

I mean don’t get me wrong, this place is EXPENSIVE, but the food and experience are incredible. I added the wine tasting to my meal and was very pleased. I’m not much of a wine connoisseur but I could still appreciate how well the pairings complemented the food. The staff is thoughtful and attentive and the cocktails are great as well. The proportions of the food seem small at first glance, but you’ll be surprised by how satisfied you are by the end of the meal. All around great experience and I’ve already recommended to a friend who will be going for their birthday.

One of my favorite experiences. As adventurous foodies, my wife and I love the lack of decisions and plate after plate of absolutely delicious and truly unique prepared dishes. The amount of time and thought that goes into planning and preparing these meals is literally palpable. The service is as though you are a guest at a very talented friend's house; everyone is truly there to serve. Very much looking forward to future visits.
