Love this little place. Let's be clear, Guy Clark's song did not put this place on the map, their chili and Mad Dog Margaritas did. Caution. 2x to 3x is a big jump in spiciness. Here since 1976 and hopefully they will be here another 45 years.

I was really looking forward to trying this place after seeing the reviews on social media. Unfortunately, my friend and I waited over 15 minutes to finally order after watching the waitress tend to the other 6 tables in our dining area. Other tables were served appetizers, drinks, and meals promptly. They were short staffed, however, the help that was there was very particular about who they paid attention. Other tables were given refills and treated friendly. We had to ask for attention. Maybe it was because we were given the little table?? I told my friend when we came we didn't need 2 hrs on the meter. It took us an hr to get our meal. The waitress in the pic stood at the computer more often than not while the other waitress ran around like a mad chicken with her head cut off helping everyone else. The food: The mild brisket meatball chili was blah, the burger was good as was the drink. My friend had the chili sampler and 2 of the 3 chili's were blah. The venison chili was tasty. Very underwhelming experience allaround.

Oh my goodness. This place is delicious yall. We literally could not decide what we wanted which actually worked out perfectly because we each got the three option combo! I got a baked potato with all the fixings (which was baked to perfection) the green chili with white beans (so much flavor my mouth is watering thinking about it) and then a cheese enchilada with the green chile sauce. So stinking tasty! My husband got a margarita and loved it! He also got the venison chili, queso and chips and gumbo. Everything was so good and we would 100% go back! Also, huge shout out to our server who had several tables but still got everyone's orders and food quickly and efficiently!

Great spot! Staff was super friendly. I got the three chili sampler with their standard chili, white chili was pork and gumbo. The standard chili was my favorite as it had the most depth.

We visited this place because it was in walking distance to the hotel. It was a great choice! The service was great! And the variety of food was good, not just chili. The grilled chicken breast was huge, served with yellow rice and pinto beans seasoned with chili powder. They didn’t have some of their beers on menu due to the football game the night before.

Best little chili parlor in Texas. Don't forget your Mad Dog Margaritas. Guy Clarke didn't make this place famous, their chili did.

First I came in for ice only. Talk about a cheap date! The staff was so friendly I asked to ice down my horses and again they obliged. So we stayed for a beer. They brought us water!! THANKS TX CHILI PARLOR!!! Y’all rock!

A diamond in the heart of Austin. Such an amazing spot for chili. Came here after visiting some museums. Located in the centre of downtown. Tried the xxx chili and it did not disappoint. Burrito was amazing too. The atmosphere gives of dark yet relaxing vibe. Definitely a spot you have to check out if you’re in the area.

Always support local! This place has been in Austin for a bit and is know for its Chili. We went for lunch and had the burgers. It’s an old school burger, tastes great, and hits the mark. No fries, they have chips. The chili selection is plentiful and there is a full bar. Several people coming in on their lunch break.

A Texas hidden gem next to the Capitol!! We had the hot beef chili & pork chili!! Nice heat and flavors!! LOVED the interior dining room decor & vibe! Parking is limited in the immediate area but worth the walk.

The cheeseburger was just like any other cheeseburger. Nothing special but that’s what I wanted. I loved the chili! The 3 chili sampler is a great deal and I found the serving size to be pretty good. My boyfriend and I shared the sampler and were absolutely with it. Of the chili’s we tried, I liked the sausage one the most then the habanero one. I could take or leave the white bean chili- it’s still good though!

In town for a conference and my husband mentioned wanting to try this for a long time so we walked over and had a great time! We had chili tasters and nachos. Of course we had to get the Mad Dog Margaritas, that’s a must do! The chili was amazing. The tasters are a great way to try a few different flavors. We were seated and waited on quickly. We went early…around 5:00pm and it was busy but no wait. I highly recommend giving this place a visit.

Great place, great service, and consistent good. Returned after several years- first time when visiting the Capitol of Texas, and now while in town for work. Was warmly welcomed in. We ordered 3 different types of chili, one of which was Frito Pie style. We all enjoyed our dishes. The chili was authentic and as expected for a Texas place. I look forward to coming back again as soon as I get a chance to return to Austin.

I can’t believe I’ve lived here 6 years and only just now tried this place. Double X and White Chili are sooo good. And don’t wait to be in the mood for chili (but seriously try the chili) they’ve got a ton of other great looking burgers, nachos, and enchiladas on the menu. We were drooling over other stuff coming out of the kitchen. Also great margaritas! Atmosphere is fantastic dive bar. Staff is super friendly and service is great. Highly recommend!!

🎶Wish I was in Austin, at the Chili Parlor bar🎶 Food is great and I love the history of the place. Pictured is my chili sampler with White Pork, Venison, and Five Bean Veggie. The venison chili was a standout among the three. I also got the gumbo and liked it a lot. Service is very friendly and food was fast and hot. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a taste of the real, old Austin. You will not be disappointed.

For $11 I got a steak (cooked to order) two cheese enchiladas covered in chili, rice and a decent size serving of guacamole. I also tried the sample size of green pork chili. (Needed a little salt). Great meal, and you can beat the price.

The cheese enchiladas with queso are the best! Beans and rice are very tasty. The chili potato is really good. Side salad is huge. The beat part is the atmosphere. It's a dive, plain and simple. Just the way I like it!

It's a rundown looking restaurant that resembles a dive bar but serves some good food. For starter I ordered the tostadas and salsa to start and it was spicy but delicious homemade salsa with some crispy chips. For main I ordered the chili sampler of white pork, venison, and black bean beef sausage chili. Venison and white pork were ok, just bland bowls of soup, but the black bean beef sausage one was very good, full of flavor without being spicy. I also got the gumbo sampler and that was delicious also. I was warned not you get the habanero beef and pinto beans because it's the spiciest thing they have in the whole restaurant, so don't order unless you can handle it. The bathroom was pretty nasty and the scenery is tacky but if you only care about trying some good chili then you should come

We visited on a Monday night and we’re surprised to find a line but it moved quickly. We had the chicken burrito, the chilli bowl and shared some nachos. The flavours were amazing, the chilli spicy but not too much. Genuine good tex-mex, value for money.

I had gotten enchiladas and cheesecake which were both pretty good! I had The Drew Drink and I forgot what the first drink I had was called. I think it was a orange jager or something like that.

What a fun place! We stayed at the double tree suites and it is just across the street. We had the trio sampler and steak and enchiladas. I loved the spicy guac 🥑 and the steak was perfect w the enchiladas. They packed everything perfectly and had all the needed utensils and napkins. Definitely great price for the amount of food and nothing but southern hospitality! I highly recommend!!!

Terrible. This is supposed to be a large chili for $11? Last time I had this meal in a bowl and it was steaming hot. This time it was bland and tasted cold. Waiter could have at least let me know they ran out of bowls so I could order a hot meal on a plate. Terrible. Waste of money. Nonetheless it took an hour to get my food. Never coming back

So I got the sampler with the black bean, venison and pork chili and also got a chuck beef frito pie to try to sample everything. The black bean one was my favorite. All of them were unique. I didn't care for the chunky pulled pot roast style meat in the chucky beef one but the heat was very good. The restaurant it self is more of a ran down dive vat style than a restaurant. I would definitely come back though!
