It doesn’t even feel like the same restaurant. I got some food delivered via UberEats since Kome doesn’t do dine in, but the food quality was so bad compared to the Kome before Covid. The sauce for cold soba is super salty. The chicken karaage is so hard and feels like rocks. Sushi is mediocre that I can just order somewhere else. I’m disappointed and will not go back.

Absolutely awesome! As someone who lived in Japan for years, I felt like I was back there. The food and atmosphere are authentic and wonderful. We sat at the sushi bar, and the staff and chefs were phenomenal, very friendly, and even chatted in Japanese with us. The yuzu sake cocktail was great 👍

I came in on a Sunday afternoon - It was very busy, there was a good buzz, and the servers/chefs yell in Japanese when people enter the restaurant. I was shown a seat at the bar which normally would overlook the chef’s preparation area however was on a lower level with no visibility. The menu was by QR code and to my surprise one could also order this way. I did so, payed upfront and the food was passed to me directly from the chefs. Both the seating and the lack of personal touch actually took away an element of the dining experience. I had the miso soup, salmon nigiri, crunchy dynamite, TX surf & turf, Botan ebi, and some avocado rolls. They were all very good though I could not help to notice the fish seemed not very fresh. The salmon nigiri was less flavorful than I would have expected and the Botan ebi, which is usually sweet and sticky, was a bland and lacked the texture. The rolls were delicious and well presented. Overall the staff were nice though I interacted with them less than usual due to the online menu/payment. This place was recommended to me and I will give it a second chance although on this occasional it was underwhelming - especially for what is a quite expensive dining experience.

Beautiful restaurant with nice interior. I came here around 5:30pm on a weekday and there were still a couple of tables but it was getting crowded. We ordered the karage, the trio roll and the crunchy deluxe. The chicken karage was delicious, crunchy, tender on the inside. The rolls were very good, plenty of fish inside. We got wine and sake to go with our meal. People were waiting for tables around 6:15pm. This place is great for families, couples on a date, or even a solo date sitting at the bar. They do not take reservations and it’s first come first serve. It is on the pricier side.

This is an awesome Japanese place with some really authentic Japanese dishes. If you are into that Americanized Japanese food and California rolls, skip this place. Their menu is extensive and they have some adventurous menu items you can try. I love the bar seating where you can watch the sushi chefs prepare fresh sushi. I will highly recommend you try the sushis of course but do try out the other items. Ask the server for help and she does a great job suggesting what to order. I have found it helpful to show the pictures on the review and asking what they are. Ample parking is available around the spot.

Had a great Komé experience! Was able to try a plethora of things. My favorites were the rolls here , and typically I like nigiri the best. The spicy tuna roll and the tarantula roll were so good. The miso soup was also so good! I would come back but probably wouldn’t get the nigiri flight again.

First time. Our food was fresh and delicious. We had the Austin Roll, Spooky Roll and Surf & Turf Roll. Ena, our server was very sweet and attentive. Even when a big party sat in her section, she made sure we were taken care of. The whole staff in general were really friendly, about 4 people bid us farewell as we left. Over all a great experience from beginning to end.

We recently had a dinner at this fantastic sushi restaurant and was thoroughly impressed with the wide selection of classical sushi, onigiri, and signature rolls available. As an appetizer, we ordered the yakitori, which was delicious. The meat was juicy and perfectly marinated in a flavorful sauce, though the portion size felt a bit small for the price. However, the real star of the meal was the Fat Samurai sushi roll, which was truly incredible. This generously-sized roll was three times larger than the typical sushi roll and packed with an abundance of fresh and flavorful fish. Another delicious dish was the Spooky roll, which featured a delightful combination of mashed tuna, salmon, and spicy sauce. Overall, I had a wonderful dining experience at this restaurant and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for delicious sushi.

I was a bit hesitant to try Kome since it looks like a Japanese fusion restaurant. Instead, they serve authentic Japanese flavors. The nigiri is so great. The little seasoning on top of the nigiri amazed me. Nevertheless, my most fav is Okonomiyaki. Please try it if you come!

Friend and I were in the area and wanted a sushi lunch. We have usually have a “go to” place in the Domain, but I wanted to explore options. So glad I did; I think this may be my new favorite sushi place. We arrived early, before the lunch rush, and decided it would be fun to sit at the sushi bar so we can watch and chat with the sushi chefs. Great service, friendly staff, quality and delicious food, and ambiance. 😊⭐️

When I was visiting, Austin decided to go to this Japanese restaurant based on browsing and ratings on Google. I would really like to find a good place for the bento box. It turned out to be a wonderful experience. Everything from the beginning to the end, the staff, the food, and the ambiance was wanderful. You will have a home-style dining experience that you can never find anywhere else!

My boyfriend and I came here after a long day of exploring and we were greeted by friendly staff that seated us right away. The menus were online or they offered physical menus. Our waiter Jen (he was blonde and hair in a pony) was extremely kind and attentive and Knowledgeable about the menu. Our sushi came out quickly and we felt like we were home in Florida where sushi is king. We both agreed we found our Austin Sushi spot! We got three rolls and some edamame.

I ordered delivery via Uber Eats. The food was packaged and bagged where it wasn't squashed nor did it spill. Sorry for the blurry sushi roll picture. I took a bite and it was so good I got in a hurry with taking the photo. I absolutely live how they have pictures of all their plates on the uber eats menu. That is exactly why I chose to order from them. Their food descriptions were accurate as well.

I was here with some friends for a late lunch. Because of the time (4 pm), only the "Mid-day menu" was available. They offer mostly small plates. It can be pricey, but everything we tried was absolutely delicious. There was a huge sushi menu as well. Service was ok overall. Our server was friendly, but she didn't seem to know the menu very well.

Had some rolls, katsu box and octopus balls. It’s alright. Idk maybe I miss the actual restaurant experience. Definitely prefer the raw rolls over the cooked ones. The katsu was good. Octopus balls were good too.

We got take out lunch because we didn’t realize the dining room and patio were not open. We ordered online from the parking lot and it was worth the wait. We had 3 bento lunches-tonkatsu , karaage, and grilled mackerel. All we prepared well and tasted great. All traditional sauces were provided in packets or on the side. The bento included not only rice and green salad but also tsukemono, seaweed salad and edamame! Our 2 side orders of karaage and shishito peppers were very large and tasty. I’d definitely go back when I’m in Austin again and heartily recommend it. You get great value as well. Sorry, my photos were taken after we’d already started eating!

Kome definitely has one of the best bento lunches I’ve had in Austin. It’s a bit pricier but the bento comes with a lot of unique side dishes along with a small portion of a signature roll. It was super filling and delicious. I was really surprised at how smooth their nigiri tastes and I would love to try their sushi rolls next time. With the nigiri and the roll I was able to try lot of the fish they offer. All of the raw bites were very fresh and tasty. We had great service and the restaurant has a really nice Japanese feel to it. We came during peak lunch rush but immediately got seated at the bar. It was a bit longer wait for a table. I immediately noticed how expansive their menu is with a lot of drink options. There was a lot of parking, but I could see the lot filling up quick if the other businesses were open. Overall I would highly recommend Kome if you’re interested in classic Japanese hot dishes and unique rolls.

Recently, we decided to visit Kome. Even though it was a workday, the place was bustling with diners, a testament to its popularity. Make sure to book a reservation, as there's likely to be a line! The atmosphere was both comfortable and casual, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed dining experience. The food did not disappoint. Our favorites were the tempura and the ramen, which were a big hit with the kids. We also ventured into the sushi menu, trying out five different rolls. While the sushi was okay, it wasn't the standout for us. Service at Kome is commendable. The staff was attentive and took great care of us, enhancing the overall dining experience. In conclusion, we had a lovely time at Kome. While we'd recommend the tempura and ramen over the sushi, the warm ambiance and excellent service make this a must-visit. Just don't forget to make a reservation, even on a weekday!

It has been a long time since I’ve been to a restaurant where the staff cared about making the experience the best possible. The server was incredibly personable and the staff give you a big welcome when you come in. You can always judge a sushi restaurant by its miso soup. The soup was incredibly balanced. The pork katsudon was juicy. The sushi was delicious. I love the Mango salmon sushi. This ambiance was very cozy and warm. This is an amazing place.

I went for lunch today, happy with my sushi lunch set. It was fresh cut, my friend ordered sushi lunch set with crunchy - more rolls than maki option. Thankfully, miso soup was alright, not too salty like other places I have been to. Another friend of mine ordered yaki something don buri and veggie ramen which were delicious. I definitely go back here to try other dishes. The gratitude 20% will be automatically added to the table of 5+

The place is small but the wait is worth it. The food is delicious and the service very friendly. The ambience is also quite good. Definitely ask and try the staff’s recommendations and bring a couple of friends to share family-style. They accept credit cards and have parking onsite.

So, SO excited that Komé is back and open for dine-in!! Since their days at their old venue, I've been a long time customer. Their menu has grown along with the ways you can order your food! My recommendations to everyone is to try the Beef Curry Rice (with Katsu/Pork), Zato-Ichi nigiri, Unagi roll, and the Sake Kasu cheesecake. <3 コメのスタッフお帰り♡

To be honest I am dissapointed at this place. The big dissapointment was the food. I ordered some rolls, gyozas, and nigiris. The fish in the nigiris didn't seem fresh, it tasted like chlorine. The rolls were good though. I have been in several sushi restaurants in the US and abroad, and I am sure that something was definitely wrong with the fish. Other than that, I don't recommend showing up without a reservation. I made that mistake and I had to wait over an hour to get a table. Our server was friendly but the whole experience felt rushed.

I've lived in Japan for many years and can say, without a doubt, that Kome provides the best example of Japanese cuisine in Austin. I'm not just talking about sushi (although they have some bangers), I'm talking about all the food that someone in Japan would eat on a regular basis - onigiri, don-buri, various fried food, okonomiyaki, ramen, multiple examples of cooked fish...you name it. Their quality is always top notch (even when they transitioned to operating as a take out restaurant during the pandemic) and the service is a shining example of what good looks like in this town. There are a lot of places in Austin that do elements of Japanese cuisine well, but no place delivers the breadth and depth of quality that Kome does.

Update: Kome reached out to us, and was very gracious in explaining why the restaurant was so busy. They even offered a refund for the bowl we didn't receive and a promo code for next time. We really appreciate how it was handled. Our previous visit was was pretty good. We got takeout on our anniversary and got two rolls, a sashimi plate, and takoyaki and were still hungry afterwards, but we probably should have ordered more food. Warning: they get REALLY BUSY on Weekends Most recent Friday evening, we ordered online and Toast said that the order wouldn't be ready for another 2 hours. I even called and asked if we could get it any earlier, but they said "they were extremely busy and that was the best estimate". After a 2 hour wait, we picked up the food, got home, and realized they gave us the wrong bowl in our order despite the receipt on the bag being correct. We were so hungry that we didn't have the energy to drive back, nor wanted to wait another 30 min-1hr to get it corrected. The katsudon (which was what was ordered) was fine. The Kinoko chashu tama-don which we did not order but were given instead of our actual order, was not appetizing (at least in our opinion). It had a pickled taste and the mushrooms were chewy and slimy. The takoyaki was good as always, but have had other places with more Octopus in it.

I ordered curbside service and ordered the Midnight sushi roll and the Yoshizo. Both were very good, unique but yet tasty compared the sushi I'm used to. Curbside service was very quick and efficient. My only complaint is that the rolls were pretty expensive for sushi. I paid $12-13 for each half roll (4-6 pieces).

  • 5/5 Jeremy L. 2 years ago on Google
Simply incredible. Only take out right now but they have a good system with curbside pick up. I had two rolls, both of which were amazing and rivaled the best sushi I’ve had in NYC and San Francisco. I absolutely loved this food and I see why it comes so highly recommended. Go here!
