Was in the area and went for happy hour. The house margaritas are $5 during happy hour. Jalapeño margarita was okay not very spicy. Complimentary chips and salsa flight was great most places don’t offer this anymore. Al pastor taco and tamale were both great and very fairly priced. Staff were changing shifts so everyone at the bar was rushed to order food and/ or pay their tabs. As an industry person I’ve never experienced this especially in the middle of happy hour kind of felt abandoned and wasn’t sure if I’d get the food I was rushed to order since the bartenders shift was over and left. Probably get better service at a table.

I just visited this super fun taco bar because the front bar was so unique with old worn heavy board flooring and the walls were covered with an eclectic compilation of old pictures of Mexican culture and plants and western everything else. I saw the Mauro Plato dish on the menu and was very interested in this very cheesy looking meal. It looked fantastic and it was beyond delicious. It comes with a choice of meat. I chose chicken. Service was speedy and friendly.

Amazing experience both in the restaurant and outdoor bar location which features fun outdoor music. The band playing was excellent, as was the food we enjoyed at the restaurant. Everything tastes fresh, and service is speedy. The pricing is also very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. Highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting Austin!

The appetizers were very good the guacamole was fresh and flavorful the queso fundido with chorizo was delicious too. Now for the tacos…. We’ll they needed more flavor and the chicken taco was dry. The Al pastor was like I have never seen before. The taste was really off. The fish was very bland . I wasn’t impressed. I’d go back for the apps and drinks.

The waitress was so kind. 🤦‍♀️ The food; Okay ....... Weros just to be the best place to eat my favorite red rice. Not more.. I didn't believe my friends, but since the owner passed away in 2022, food is not the same. Makes me feel sad 😔 . The drink: 🤦‍♀️ We have a big problem if they don't know how to make a Mojito, I literally left the entire drink in the table. Disappointed 😞 P.D: the Salsa it's not the same also. [ Tastes like it's bought from the store ]

Although it was extremely crowded and loud, we really enjoyed the food. Our waiter was so kind and made sure we had everything we needed. There was a lot of food to choose from. The food was very flavorful to the point of my husband actually eating the vegetables and not tossing them to the side!

I've never had service so fast! Great place to eat if you're in a rush. The al pastor tacos and enchiladas verdes were great. The queso sauce was an orange cheese. The margaritas were small but mighty.

Unfortunately, there was little redeeming value to having a meal here. Visiting Austin it was suggested to me but I should have not move on the offer. It was about 102 degrees on this evening but they had the misters going and thats to paint the picture of the setting. We sat outside just on the sidewalk, it took maybe 7-10 mins for some one to greet our table. The chips were provided, water was provided and we were asked if we were ready to order, really? No. A few minutes are required. Anywho beyond that we got beverages, sweet tea is not on the menu. I ordered the brisket enchiladas and it was not good, what I received was pulled beef, with no flavor at all. None. They should take the word brisket off the menu because it’s not brisket. The verde sauce was bland and the rice mound too had little taste. The best part of my meal was the chips and water. I wish you better taste adventure, but I don’t think it’s here

Followed this place after watching the movie Chef. Loved the vibe and music. The garden area is outside and not connected to the restaurant. So if there is a long wait time (which we didn’t have) - I’d suggest to wait at the garden and order the amazing margaritas and listen to some live music. We order the quesadilla (with add ons) Taco Al Pastor and Alambres. The dip and sides bar was a good additions.

Wasn't spicy enough, but still delicious and lovely to go to! I adore all the decorations on the wall, makes the place that much more atmospheric. The frozen margaritas were delightful.

Always such a fun vibe!! The only complaint I had was their margarita mix was too tart, but other people really seemed to love it!

We arrived prior to the dinner rush and were seated right away. The food was fresh and tasty. Nothing was too terribly spicey which was good - nothing ruins good food more than being over spiced. The serving sizes were quite generous and filling. The service was friendly and efficient. We will definitely be back

You can’t visit Texas without having some Mexican food. We decided to drop in here for a dinner with the family and friends. The food selection was plentiful and the service was really good. Our waiter was exceptional at being courteous and attentive. We had a large group so I did not get everybody’s meals, which would’ve been really weird. Lol. I did however get our plates. The brisket taco was amazing! I would not get the fish taco again. The brisket was really soft and very flavorful. The fish taco lacked any real taste, however the fish inside by itself was delicious. The tamales came in an assortment of meats along with beans and cheese. I would not get the bean and cheese one. it seemed to lack any real flavor or taste. The chips and salsa that came before the meal was delicious! This could be because we were all starving as well. The atmosphere is very lively and you can talk without fearing somebody overhearing your conversations. The waiter was outstanding! He took great care to make sure everybody was comfortable and got everything that they ordered. it was refreshing to have such service. If you’re in the area, I would suggest stopping in to sample the food choices yourself. it’s also a great way to get out of the heat!

Pretty inviting outdoor place with a stage for bands, shaded seating a bar and a taco window. Loved the atmosphere, even if it was a little touristy. I'd stop by again if I heard music like I did last night, even if just for a quick 30 min drink and taco to enjoy the vibe.

While I don’t know if that’s what’s happened here, I’m starting to understand with better clarity, “Don’t California my Texas”. Unfortunately Güero’s seems to be a prime example of this. In the past almost every time we’ve come to Austin we’d try to stop at Güeros. Admittedly it’s been a while, and again I’m not sure what’s happened but the food now is sub par. The only things that really had any flavor were the spicy salsa, rice and cheese. Legit sent half my plate back and my Husband didn’t eat the taco he ordered as a side, the brisket tasted like cat food smells. Our waiter was friendly & attentive UNTIL it was time to leave. I have no idea what happened but we waited longer for our tab to be picked up than the food. It got to the point where we paid cash and left.

Love the tacos here! Also devoured a bowl of Queso. Try the brisket tacos!! Place is bustling with people, and there is such an elective mix of decor and plants it feels like a different world when you step to escape the heat. Service was great too!

You must know what you get when you go into a tourist-area restaurant. But, even then, we were greatly underwhelmed. First, the dance music (this is a Mexican restaurant, isn’t it?) was way too loud. We could not carry on any level of conversation at our table. Second, the table was absolutely filthy. Crusted food in the cracks and sticky on the top. The expanded leaves drooped so much, I was afraid my plate was going to slip down onto my lap. Third, the world’s smallest margarita. Served in a 6 oz tumbler. Aside from the ice, only about 2-3 oz of actual drink. I ordered Dinner #1, a combo plate. While the carne asada was not terrible (lacked any degree of smokiness), the enchilada had only about a teaspoon and a half of rojo sauce over a very dry corn tortilla. The “charro” beans were nothing more than plain ol’ pinto beans. Our server could not have care less about us, either. We were neither rude or disruptive, either. We genuinely enjoy dining out (as you can tell from my many reviews), but I’m not shy about telling it like it is. And Guerro’s just isn’t it.

A great Austin taco bar and restaurant in SOCO- South Congress. The place was lovely, the service was good in spite of it being busy on a Saturday morning. And the food was fine. The warm chips and self service salsa bar is a great addition. The ambiance is wonderful, lots of photos and memorabilia on the walls makes it interesting. I would’ve loved to have stayed and watched the band next door, maybe next time.

An Austin classic and a mandatory dinner spot for visitors. It has our favorite tex-mex in town. The menu has something for everyone including a large and awesome vegan menu. Don't forget to try all of the salsas. The views of downtown and the capital from this section of South Congress are priceless.

The meat was honestly very good and I personally was very surprised. There are a lot of Tex-Mex restaurants where they do not compare to home or authentic Mexican good. I totally recommend their quesadillas with meat of your choice. The only thing that was lacking in taste/season was their tacos Al Pastor. The best thing about those tacos was the juicy pineapple! During the weekend it was very popular and pack so prepared to be patient!
