This place is amazing it's like eating edible art! Great staff, food and it's clean. Good family or date spot...Try the vegetarian platter, I like it with fish tibs and honey wine or coffee ceremony. Ditch the silverware and use your fingers to eat... you'll survive!

Nice place. Clean and well maintained. Friendly and professional staff. Good and tasty food. Highly recommend thier meat combo. Try out the ceremonial coffee. It smelled really good upon entering the restaurant. Their sambosa is really good too.

My wife and I are visiting Austin for a conference. Oklahoma is our home. We decided to try something we can't get in the Norman, OK area. Habesha looks little rough on the outside, but the inside is clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated. Our server was great, he had a great attitude and demeanor. He really made our visit fun. This was our first time to eat Ethiopian cuisine and we are now both fans. I had the meat combo plate and my wife had the vegan combo plate. It was a large portion of food and we both enjoyed our meal. I also indulged in an Ethiopian beer which was also very tasty. Overall we are very happy we chose to branch out and we are happy we chose Habesha for our dinner destination. Boomer Sooner!!!

Delicious food. Great menu. Friendly staff. Hard to navigate with a wheelchair due to shortage of handicap parking. But, so worth coming with beautiful from the colorful tables to the nice bar. You can purchase the coffee to make at home which was a nice treat. Also, great tasting mead...No outdoor seating for our furry companions so leave them at home. Photos included.

I’ve loved Habesha for years. I was first introduced to Ethiopian food in Washington, D.C. which I’m told is considered the best and most authentic Ethiopian food outside of Ethiopia. In my opinion, Habesha comes the closest to the Ethiopian food I was accustomed to in D.C. I’m an omnivore but I almost always get the vegetarian sampler. It is so hearty and full of flavor and SUBSTANTIAL! My family is full of big appetites and we are never able to finish the whole thing. We will always go back for this predictably affordable, satisfying meal.

Authentic, flavorful Ethiopian food at reasonable prices. We ordered the vegetarian sampler many times as takeout throughout the pandemic and so excited to dine-in! They were able to make the Foul vegan (it comes with French bread rather than traditional injera and our server was very attentive. A nicer interior than the exterior.

The food was super flavorful! It had been years since I had Ethiopian food and this place made my Ethiopian food experience a good one. Only thing I wished that I did was to order the combination plate option. My food was a bit spicy but it was super delicious!

The food was amazing and ambience was also nice inside. Service was a little slow but there was only one server working and he was very nice. We came with a vegan friend and were pleasantly surprised by how many vegan options there were. We ordered the lentil sambusas, vegan platter, and a beef combo. All great choices. We also ordered the coffee ceremony which was the perfect palate cleanser to end with. Everything was very delicious and we are looking forward to coming back here.

While visiting Austin to visit some friends who are also foodies, the topic of Ethiopian food came up. We didn't have any options to try back home, so we happily came here. What a great experience! Clean restaurant with good ambiance and knowledgeable wait staff who answered all our questions. I enjoyed the sponge bread and can wholeheartedly suggest the lamb and lentils.

These folks are so generous, sweet and helpful. We got the vegetarian combo platter and one of the lamb dishes. Also the spinach and feta appetizer. Highly recommend trying the honey wine! It's made in house.

This place is fabulous! A little questionable from the parking lot (LOL!), but beautiful interior and the food was sooo good! We ordered the sampler plate on recommendation from the very attentive staff since it was our first time here and our first time with Ethiopian cuisine. We will all be back to try more! Additional note: all halal offerings.

I came in town on business and someone recommended Habesha to me because they knew how much I love Ethiopian food. This place did not disappoint and was probably the best I've had. The food was flavorful and spices were amazing. The Tej was wonderful and even served in an authentic Birile. The service was super friendly and kind as well. I wish they had a location in Cincinnati!

Great food and service. The waiter was helpful explaining options and suggested the 2 of us share the beef and veggie options. Good flavors with a level of heat that isn't overwhelming.

Spent lot of time studying menu as they all in foreign language lmao. 1. combo for three, Meat: I personally like the yellow curry beef, the red one is but spicy for me and chicken is about avg. Veg: beetroots are not supposed to chopped into pieces. Wish they are crunchy and bulky. Potato’s are good! Salad is too sour. 2. The deserts is way too sweet for me. Waiting time can be improved.

Best Ethiopian in Austin! Really good Siga Wat! If you want lentils or something vegetarian too you can order side dishes for a great price. 10/10

Gluten free Injera upon request (best to call in advance)... And very very very friendly service. I've been to Ethiopia a handful of time and this cuisine is incredible -- one the of the tastier places in the USA!

Food was amazing and Michael was a fantastic server. I'll agree from outside it doesn't look impressive, but inside is really nice and clean. First time eating Ethiopian food, i went with the meat combo. It was all really good! Definitely be back.

What a great hidden gem ! Our honest opinion would be that this is the best Ethiopian restaurant in the Austin area ! We ve tried tons of other places and usually go to the famous ones but recently those were not upto the mark and we decided we would try Habesha and see if we like it, and bam! It hit the spot :) curries were amazing and sides were great, ambiance was bright and welcoming and so many spots to park . We tried the vegetarian combo and each dish was perfection! From the spinach, cheese, cabbage to the lentils and a special coconut paste - everything was amazing ! And we ordered the doro wot and the lamb tibs - and we were blown away! Probably the best dishes we've tasted in Ethiopian cuisine . The service was quick and immeccableThis will be our only go to place for Ethiopian from now on!

Nice place with good taste, quality and quantity. The spice level was good, it was different type of curry and flavor, however looked and items were like indian curry. The chicken, shrimp and beef all tasted excellent, the lamb could taste better!

This is an amazing Ethiopian place tucked away in a quiet strip mall. The interior decor was nice, and when we went it was not crowded at all. The service was great. The food was absolutely delicious - we ordered a combination of things both veggie and meat - and everything was spon on great. The sambosas where very good too. We really cleaned up a huge plate full of stuff.

Very good Ethiopian food! Service was very slow, and they also messed up some of our order (took forever to get the appetizer and it came after we were done with the entre). BUT we still enjoyed all the flavors. Veggie/Vegan combo is perfect for two - not sure why they say it serves one.

If I could give this place 10 stars, I would! This is my go to place when I’m craving Ethiopian cuisine. The flavors are rich, spicy, and savory. If you’re not sure where to start, I’d recommend going with the “Habesha Veggie Combo” (I’m plant-based, but they have meat combos too) The combos allowed me to sample a little of everything and honestly, it was all delicious. The standouts: hummus, Misir Wot (spicy lentil stew), Shiro Wot (roasted chickpea stew), and Gomen (sautéed collard greens). I also appreciate that they feature gluten free injera should you have a gluten allergy or wish to eat gluten free. I’ve ordered take out twice and dine in once and I prefer dine in so that the food is still hot and steamy! Either way, definitely a must try! This place feels like a community gem and must be protected. Everyone here is so kind and welcoming. I appreciate this cultural moment happening right here in Austin.
