Very attentive staff and a bright, open space. Seems like a good place to come with your family. The food was a little pricey compared to other places but they did give us big portions.

Well…. Sad to say I was sooo disappointed in the food! The quality wasn’t what it used to be. We got beef enchiladas and the meat tasted like dirty dish water! We also got the cheese enchiladas. Too over priced for the quality. Just my opinion tho!

Amazing tacos and enchiladas. Chips are wonderful and the salsa works perfectly with them. Service is always friendly and wonderful - smiles everywhere. Great way to take a break from traveling 35 southbound before hitting downtown Austin.

I will never eat here again. The queso is basically Velveeta and the tacos are inedible. I literally spat it out. And they are not cheap! Do not waste your money here.

Usually excellent, but this trip was off. Way off. Arrived for lunch at 11:15 AM on Saturday, 7/3/21. Had to wait 15 minutes to be seated. The entire bar area of the restaurant is not being used at this time. Not the bar or the tables in the bar area. Waitress was prompt in delivering my glass of water, no ice. I placed my order for a small queso and the #22 which is 3 Amaya's tacos. Add fajita beef ($0.89 extra for each) and no tomatoes on the tacos. Waited 15 minutes for food to arrive! The tacos were covered in tomatoes. The waitress immediately removed the plate from the table and returned it to the kitchen. My tacos without tomatoes arrived about 2 minutes later. Fried taco shells were room temperature. Fajita beef filling was room temperature. I could not call either one of them "warm" or "hot from the kitchen". I can only assume that the plate sat at the prep counter for a while before being brought to my table. This is not usual for Amaya's Taco Village. I come here every time I visit from Houston. It's a must! But this experience was just bad. If this had been my first experience with the restaurant, and therefore my first impression, I probably would never return. But I know this was an "off" visit. It appears that they are terribly short handed. Each waitress was covering multiple tables and simply cannot take the orders and deliver the food efficiently. Photo is of meal #22 on the menu. Three Amaya's tacos with fajita beef.

Man I don’t know where to start this place knows what they are doing!!! It was super hot that day so it was only water and lemon for me. Then right on to the chips and salsa I really liked the spice on the salsa and I also ordered a queso cheese too i don’t know if it’s a Texas thing or what but the queso cheese is almost always yellow down here… but it still is really good queso… but I really came here for the Carne Guisada!!! Yes Carne Guisada!! One of the BEST Mexican dishes ever it’s steak beef tips with gravy served with rice, beans, guacamole salad and two big tortillas. Every time I come to Austin Texas I eat Carne Guisada who doesn’t want super tender steak pieces smothered in a thick gravy on a taco??!! I highly highly recommend this place wish they restaurants in Indianapolis would catch up and make this dish!!!

This is a great place to enjoy eating the 3 enchiladas plate with beans & rice and 2 tortillas. It worth the cost. You can get it cheaper if you get there to place your order before 3pm. They have many other selections to enjoy too. The drinks are good and cost effective to get a couple. Have a blast there. The Fox 👌

I have to say they had the best salsa and chips I have had in a long time. The beef enchilada plate was excellent. I even went back for breakfast tacos the next morning. Both the gusada and bacon and egg were delicious.

This has been a favorite 'go to' Mexican restaurant of ours for decades. They have some of the very best corn "puffy" tacos around. Parking is the biggest problem, but well worth a short walk, to taste some of their authentic TexMex fare. They also have daily specials along with drink specials. Ole!

Went on Saturday for lunch, and it was AMAZING ♡ I used to go all the time when it was located at the Capital Plaza Shopping Center, and when it relocated, I assumed it wouldn't be the same and that was a mistake! I finally went, and I was taken on a date here, and let me say It's bad always to assume. The food is still as amazing as before. The service here is great!! It's way bigger as well and very nice inside. Our waitor was great, and we'd given him a tip for such great service. Will definitely be coming back. MUST TRY THE CARNE GUISADA 😋 NOW the best spot I've ever had this made at HANDS down ♡♡

Great food as always. If you the best enchiladas in Austin, Texas this is the place.

We have eaten many times here with great service. We got waitress Olga. She forgot to add bacon to our order. She never filled our drinks. She had a very bad attitude. Do not sit in her section if you would like a good experience.

Refried beans had less than zero flavor. They were literally a flavor vacuum that removed taste from other foods. Think absolutely unseasoned corn grits. Crispy taco was soggy. All other items tasted identical to each other. High notes: Chips were crisp. House made corn tortillas were OK. We were seated quickly. Before this visit, I hadn’t been in 10 years. I’ll wait another 10 years before I try it again.

Daily “special” of three cheese enchiladas, rice and beans was $13 and change. This and an iced tea plus a tip was $25. For one person. Amaya’s was always the cheap and cheerful yet bland Tex-Mex joint in Austin for people like me from San Antonio but when your enchiladas aren’t piping hot, the cheese isn’t melted all the way through and you’re charging $13+ for a “special”, you might want to re-examine things. For comparisons sake, Mi Tierra in El Mercado San Antonio charges $13.50 for their enchilada plate. Always served piping hot and stuffed with aged cheddar.

Great little spot off 35. Drinks are strong! The Mango-nata is MUST try! The food is overpriced for the quality. Needs to be seasoned. Food isn’t bad but if you are going to charge those prices, I expect the food to match. I recommend this place. Hopefully the food is better next time I come back.

The food and value are hard to beat. Great TXMex in Austin and a staple of the town. Lunch and dinner are awesome. The service isn't bad, just not top notch same with the atmosphere. But you get what you should expect. Just go and enjoy. The tacos are WONDERFUL.

The best and most amazing Mexican food. Their salsa will leave you wanting more for days weeks months after you’ve eaten here. And it’s relaxing open environment. Enjoy the delicious enchiladas or the 3 tacos plate! All yummy and to the tooth!!

The food was good, but could have been better. I ordered a simple chalupa plate. It barely had any beans but a boat load of cheese. Unfortunately the cheese was shredded American block cheese. The coffee was delicious. The place was super clean even for the crowd. The price can't complain and very family friendly. $

One of the best things I have come across. Big breakfast. Clean at tasty food. Quick response. Never forget to top off drinks. Most of all. They react on site. Once you're seated service begins.

This place is exactly how I like Mexican Food restaurants. #1 IT IS NOT A CHAIN! #2 The service is fantastic! #3 The food is traditional Mexican-none of that new age so called Mexican food that tastes like sloppy joe mix poured on a tortilla!! This food is just like real good home made Mexican food. Let me see did I mention that the service is fantastic!! There you have it three reasons to go and enjoy Amaya's!!

We have always loved eating here. The cheese enchiladas are kind of a guilty pleasure and their tacos are awesome. Service has always been good. I’m doing a 4 star review because I know times are tough and I’m hoping the price adjustments are temporary, but GOOD GOD!!! The prices now are INSANE. We actually went in last week, sat down, told the waitress we accidentally went to the wrong location and promptly left. I realized that 2 cheese enchiladas, a beef fajita taco and a glass of water was gonna set me back over $20 bucks with tip. I hope they get this figured out.

Went here last Sunday didn't know they close early so we got our food towards closing time and it did not taste like it normally does. It was ok tho.
