What an incredible meal! Even went big and snagged a beef rub. Everything was perfectly cooked with a great smoke flavor. Tried a handful of sides, both tacos and the chopped brisket sandwich. I can't wait to go back. Line took about 20 minutes in total.

I suspect they run out of meat due to the lack of a full kitchen. But I got there at 1p and they had what I wanted. The tortillas are the secret: soft, pillowy, thick flour tortillas make all the barbecue taste a lot better. That's because a soft bread provides a contrast to the barbecued meat, especially its crispier parts. I had the brisket, which was great and overflowed the tortilla. I had the roasted chicken fajita which retained the roast flavor without drying out. I also had the pulled chicken. That's right. Pulled chicken. Get it. Chicken that moist and that savory is how chicken should be. That was a brilliant, 5-star chicken dish. I'd throw a Michelin star at that chicken.

Great, great bbq joint in south Austin. Outside and shaded areas to sit but no inside, so don't expect a/c. Food was great, came out fast, and staff was very sweet. The potato salad isn't that great but the main attraction is spot on. Well definitely be back to try their breakfast tacos

We arrived for lunch and found ample parking available. A line had already formed, but it only took about 10 to fifteen minutes before we ordered. It was a nice day, and we sat in a small covered outdoor area, but there's also indoor seating. This was my first time here, and it didn't disappoint. All three of my holy trinity items (brisket, pork rib, and sausage link) were worth the drive! The brisket taco, "Hollywood Style", was excellent as well! When picking your sides, be sure to include the chips and queso!

The bar is full service which means you can order your meal there and skip the long line. The wait in line was about one hour but it’s indoors so you can avoid the heat. They bring the food to your table which adds another 15-20 min. I suggest an appetizer to eat while you wait. Now the food is amazing. The brisket is tender and flavorful. The tortillas are better than getting plain bread.

The line was an hour and a half. This was during the holiday season, so hopefully that's not normal. I'm not really a corn guy, but we got the corn for my kiddo and I tried it. That was the best corn I can remember having. Though it's obvious they put mayo on it, it just seems so buttery. Seasoning was great. Got the sliced brisket taco and I guess I was supposed to ask for sauce. They supposedly make the sauce in-house so I wanted to try it but it was not to be, apparently. Brisket taco was good but the star of the meat show was the sliced brisket sandwich. The brisket was moist and the bread was excellent. Tons of brisket on it as well. My 10 year old wasn't loving the long wait, but as soon as he bit into the sliced brisket sandwich his eyes rolled back and he said "WORTH IT". I agree. Will be coming back, line or not. Great food here, just plan to be here for a while. Online ordering wasn't available when we went, but give it a shot before you go. May be able to avoid the line.

We tried brisket sandwich, pulled pork sandwich, brisket taco, fajita chicken taco, Oaxaca spicy brisket sausage, charro beans, and grilled veggie. If you want to order one simple meal, then brisket sandwich is the best option. Pulled pork has a harder texture than expected; fajita chicken lacks flavor, sausages are just okay not impressive. Tortilla looks homemade but doesn’t have a memorable taste. Came here since people are saying this is “the best BBQ in Austin”. Definitely overrated

Austin's two favorite foods - BBQ and Tex-Mex (incl Tacos) fused into one. This gem of a family owned food truck in South Austin draws crowds. I went early evening on a weekday and there was hardly a crowd, but by 7pm, the line was forming and growing. Weekends the wait maybe over an hour. Because it's worth it. I tried the Tacos only - the Brisket, the chicken were all amazing - perfectly smoked and served on house made tortillas were delicious. The tacos were loaded with meat and fresh guacamole. Loved every bite of it.

The restaurant is a good. Not great yet. It has fantastic potential. The atmosphere is good. Feels kinda like a food court. The food is great! We had the pork ribs and brisket. We wanted sausage, but they ran out. My old fashioned was ok but they forgot the bitters and sugar. Huge cube of ice. Basically, it was a glass of whiskey. We will return but maybe in a couple months when growing pains are resolved. 3 out of 5

🌮Valentina’s BBQ 🍖 I went here for breakfast tacos as I have heard this is a move. I was quite let down by this experience. I love a good breakfast taco but these were a bit outrageous. The first thing was the price was bonkers. I think one of our tacos was $14? I have never seen it be so much. I know that brisket is expensive but woah. The taco the real Holyfield was very very good but for $14 it’ll be hard to come back. The other two tacos we had , ultimate bean and cheese , and the potato egg and cheese were low key trash. I think I messed up by getting breakfast tacos here. I might comeback and do queso with lunch bbq meats!

Some of the best BBQ I've ever had. The brisket was perfect, and that's what a lot of people will judge a BBQ joint on. I also tried the pulled pork, chicken, and spare ribs. It was all excellent. There was one other item I tried that really was amazing. The smoked carnitas tacos. It was amazing. It was a bit of a wait, but definitely worth it.

One of the BEST food trucks I’ve ever had!!! So worth standing in line for. Every item we had was AMAZING but our favorites were the beef ribs and Chopped brisket sandwich. Their bbq sauce is super delicious! The queso and chips, potato salad, and smoked corn were the best sides we tried! Definitely would return!

Although Black's get all the praise, Valentina's is amazing. Their brisket is soft, tender and smokey and their fajita steak is butter soft. The addition of the fresh tortillas and pickled onion create a flavor layer that's undeniably Texas. Thank you.

Great meat. Be sure to be there on time. We came 4pm and most of the menu was already gone. But the Brisket Sandwich is really great. We had to buy beer 100m away (its bring your own beer). 10sec to get into contact with all the others queueing up 😉

This is a brand new build, building and area are beautiful. I'm not from Austin . Valentine's was a recommendation for breakfast tacos Everything was homemade from the tortilla to the slice of brisket. I ordered "The Real Deal Holyfield." it was a little pricey, especially if you're from the Houston area, where we pay $1.99 for a breakfast taco. But let me tell you, I'd pay it again it was that good. Try it and let me know what you think, I'll be waiting for your feedback.

Made it to the new location in downtown Buda located at the Buda Mill & Grain Co area. Really fun hip area. Restaurant is big and airy with a full bar. We were there the first Monday they’ve been open and unfortunately it’s a limited menu on Mondays: tacos, sandwiches, nachos. I had a chopped beef sandwich which was rich and tasty, nothing special, I was hoping for more from one of the 50 Best BBQ places.

We were ready to try some new BBQ. I had just written a blog post about Austin BBQ, and realized that we had not yet tried Valentina's! What I didn't realize that this is a food truck service, which was entirely okay. It was just before noon on a Saturday, (July 9) and there was a line, but we got there early enough before the lunch rush. There's an area in the shade of the building next to the food truck, which made waiting somewhat easier in the heat. On the other side of the same building is an enclosed seating area; there are fans, and not necessarily uncomfortable. There is also a covered outside area to sit and eat. Now about the food: they have "Tex" (sandwich) items and "Mex" (taco) items. (See my pic of the menu) I got the brisket tacos which were quite good - two in an order and filling. The Hubs tried the Chopped Brisket sandwich, to which he gave a thumbs up. I saw several patrons with the chips and queso, so I assume that is a popular favorite. To keep in mind: The only restrooms are portable toilets in the back of the building, but they do provide a place to wash hands. Also, visiting for an early lunch is probably ideal, so the wait is somewhat shorter in the heat, especially since this is really an outdoor restaurant.

Initially rated Valentina’s 4 stars after a Sunday afternoon visit. This place has breakfast hours like McDonald’s. I was only able to get a chopped brisket sandwich and I had to judge based on the pork ribs. I have Carolina pork rib taste. Revised during breakfast hours, and I was blown away by the real deal holyfeild. It’s one of the best bites in BBQ industry! Family run business with great service. It was a treat to check this off of my BBQ bucket list.

This place single handedly changed my opinion of Tex Mex food. Get here as soon as they open because the line to order and wait after ordering can be 2+ hours long! It’s worth the wait. I would recommend looking at their daily menu for their unique menu items of the day and getting a classic brisket tacos. The sides are great as well, highly recommended the corn.

We went here on the suggestion of someone at another restaurant in Austin. I had the El Rey Sandwich and enjoyed it, especially the habanero mustard sauce. My wife had the smoked brisket taco, and she thought it was fine, but should have had some slaw or something fresh to make it better. She ended up using the queso and chips we got to eat the meat. The cocktails we had, margarita and Tex Mex Old Fashioned, were ok, but not really worth the cost. We also ended up ordering two Lone Star beers, which was what we should have done from the beginning. The counter service was fairly slow and the credit card machine was apparently not working, so she had to manually enter it. Then when she got our queso, it was supposed to have brisket, but did not so I had to bring it back up again. Also the bathroom needs a little upkeep (one sink did not work, no paper towels in the dispenser). Really wanted to love this place, but sadly would not probably return.

It was recommended by a friend so we went out of our way to pay a visit. I was a little disappointed, it felt like the place lost its charm and lost its roots to the food truck they started from, as the story goes. It felt very industrial and sterile. Brisket taco was good, chicken taco was average and we liked fresh guacamole. Two separate points of sale for food and drinks seems to be a thing in Texas and it's a bit annoying. I wish it was a bit more authentic Tex-Mex experience.
