I visited here from out of town and saw this place listed as a must go (on TikTok) and it really did not disappoint. I had an amazing experience seeing all the beautiful peacocks, the coy fish in the ponds, and getting “lost” on the nature trails. The grounds were clean and well kept, and the groundskeepers really made my experience! Super friendly and knowledgeable about the peacocks. I’d give more than 5 stars if I could and highly recommend anyone to get their mental right out in nature at Mayfield Park. I see why it was listed as “must go” and I’d agree!

Nice little place that houses many peacocks! They roam around freely but please do not feed them. We also explored the nearby reserves/jungle and it’s quite a trail walk. For those who are more adventurous I believe you will like it. Lots of parking too. But there are no restrooms nearby, only the portable ones.

The peacocks are beautiful. The trails are mostly easy. Some areas may require carefulness to ascend or to descend. There is a good variety of scenery here with elevated points, creeks, waterways, different plants, etc. The visitors that I encountered here were friendly too.

Absolutely gorgeous park with a stunning garden that houses all these pretty birds! We were lucky enough to see the peacocks during their mating dance as they tried to woo the females. The nature trails are quiet and peaceful. Very shaded on a sunny day too. The lake itself is full of life and we saw a variety of pond sliders and soft shell turtles hanging out in what looked like a shallow nursery. Very romantic spot to take your significant other.

A wonderful public garden with a surprisingly large trail. Unfortunately, when I visited, it happened to be 105 degrees outside so I quickly got heat exhaustion. Regardless, the peacocks are beautiful and mild mannered (so long as you maintain proper etiquette!). There's an albino peacock and if you come at the right time you might spot some peafowl with their chicks. The trail is great with peaceful views of the Colorado River and interesting elevation. Would love to revisit when the weather cools down a bit!

FREE park in a nice area but apparently many cars get broken into! Thankfully ours did not, they should have security for as many break ins they have. It was an nice experience seeing the peacocks up close. We got to stand literally right next to them and see the males and females. There was three men workers who were very nice while they worked by the pond area who gave us fun facts about the peacocks🦚 The trails were meh nothing exciting, we decided to turn around & go back as again it was just a basic trail.

It's such a beautiful place to visit. The peacocks, of course, were a joy. There are so many different pretty backgrounds for photos for sure. Dont forget to visit the hiking trails at Mayfield Park & behind the BIG bird house! Talking from a mom's point of view & with a special needs child, it was somewhat hard to push on the payment around the house. It's doable, but I wanted to share it for those who may need it. Yes, there are sidewalks away from the housing & a step or two to get on the pavement to start. Hopefully, this helps. 😀

It's a very easily accessible park with free parking, free access and can easily give you several hours of enjoyment. There are beautiful walking trails through the woods that get you very close to the water. And lots and lots of beautiful peacocks roaming around, that you can get up very close to.

This place is a great hike with lots of shade. Beautiful things to see in nature. Trails to climb and paths to take off course for a much more fun hike. Huge, beautiful fish in the ponds and peacocks all over the premises. A MUST place to take pictures!

This Park is an amazing place to visit for a weekend not far from central Austin. Very calm and clean and everything around is green and beautiful with all the peahens/peacocks and their magnificient displaying...we can see a dozen of them walking freely, on the roofs..or on the trees around. The koi fish in the garden-ponds are very large and colorful..the golden one in the picture is amazing, and all this just adds more beauty and serenity the this place..you can stay there for hours even if is too small...(but if you're there for a walk..the trail outside is very long). The only issue there is there is no restrooms!! So better to be prepared for the day..Also no pets are allowed.

I like it I like it. Peacock 🦚 is so friendly, my children can touch its leather or seat near by them. Landscape garden is great, spring flower is blooming. Small pond with big Koi fish also makes my kids excited. You should combine this place with Contemporary Austin for visit because it’s in a way together.

I’ve lost count how many times I’ve been to Mayfield while visiting Austin. This time my husband and I hiked the trails to the different lake front sites. So beautiful and really nice trails. The peacocks are a must of course. Such peaceful and kind creatures 🦚 Easy to find and plenty of parking!

Their peacocks/peahens are only allowed in the walled off garden area (or directly near it) so if you're here for them, go there instead of the nature trails. They have several majestic peacocks who will approach you and pose for photos, and several peahens--including one mostly white peahen. The gardens were overgrown, obviously not tended regularly. Only 2 of the small ponds have koi in them, but they are cute. The walled off area is small and in a sad state, though not completely run down. The trails are overgrown in places. It's an ok park, but I wish it were in better shape.

Mayfield Park and Nature Preserve: a 28-acre park with trails, ponds covered in water lilies, and dozens of peacocks. There is no entrance fee. There is a Bell Trail Arch, a Rose Garden, and a Pigeon Cote. There is a small parking lot. On weekends the parking lot gets packed, so at that time, you have to street park outside the park and walk back to the park. No dogs allowed. You can also reserve it for private functions. One of Austin's must-be visiting places.

Lovely place for a walk and to bring friends from out of town. The peacocks are hard to find in summer so I suggest going in fall or spring.

This is always such a nice park to walk around. I love watching the peacocks and peahens - so relaxing. I really need to visit sometime with a good book and just sit, read, and relax. I also enjoy the hiking trails. The trails are long enough to be moderately challenging and the hiking views are great. It is a very enjoyable hike. I usually will spend an hour or so hiking.

Beautiful park with ~5 peafowls 🦚 The one peafowl at the entrance of the park kept dancing happily and greeted all the visitors. There are some nice ponds and flower plants inside with a peaceful environment. There is also a short trial at the back of the park which you can access through the parking lot. The parking was free and there was additional parking lots on the sides of the road.

Absolutely beautiful! This park area has a lot to see both in plant and wildlife ❤️ I was lucky to see swans on my first day here on the trail ❤️ worth a visit 😺

Beautiful park, great place to walk your dog. Island was formed when the first damn in Austin washed out in the flood of 1900.

Lovely even on a brief visit to see the peacocks. Definitely have to come back in spring to see water lilies
