Very nice visit at the Texas Capitol. I arrived just in time for the start of a (free) guided tour inside the building. The guide was very competent as he explained the history of the Capitol (and, consequently, of Texas itself). We were able to enter the Senate and, after the guided tour, to roam around freely to see every detail that we might have missed. I recommend the visit if you are in Austin!

Impressive architecture, beautiful inside, outside and all around. I had only two hours to make a quick tour but it was really not enough. There were many floors and many buildings, so if you want to see everything you have to spend the whole day here. Nice Staff also ☺️

Beautiful historical building. The Renaissance-style architecture of the Texas State Capitol reveals how diverse the State of Texas has always been, with unique food, cultures, and people! I went with my family on a Saturday evening, yet the Capitol was as calm as ever. The Capitol grounds are a splendid picnic spot, dotted with fountains and sculptures of Texas revolutionaries. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Austin!

Visitor friendly amenities, with a 30-minute free guided tour of the building is the highlight! My guide, Austin (!) was cheerful, friendly & enthusiastic throughout the tour.... we saw the senate & house chambers, all the governors/ presidents of this great state, as well as the architectural marvel that this building is... with it's dome being taller than the US capitol in DC! The lone star at the top of the dome is 218 feet high from ground! Impressive all around! And very very historic too!!!

Just Amazing. If you want to know about Texas History or just want to take in everything Texan, this is the right spot for you. It’s the embodiment of everything Texan. Right from the entrance to the Gift shop, everything is so beautifully designed. The staff and government officials are amazing and courteous to answer all the questions I had. They even let you go into the state house and senate which is great!

If you're travelling to the Texas capitol then you need to include this on your list of must sees. Truly a remarkably architectural building that is grand and scholar in every way. Being my first time to Texas I was very impressed with the free guided tour that runs for about 45min to 1hr. They run every 30-45min, but be sure to check the website.

Free 30 minute tour in the building. Very informative and interesting history of Texas. Make sure to take time to walk the grounds as there are plenty ty of things to see outside as well. There is also a visitor center nearby with a lot of information about Texas.

A very beautiful building! We have visited several times, and each time we find a new nuance. It is so pivotal to have young children visit this place! Remember, everything is bigger in Texas, referencing that this is the largest state capital building in the US. You simply must visit our state capital in Texas!

It is very to the point. It's the Texas state capitol, you get to walk around and see some history. Elaborate, beautiful building. You can go inside of some rooms, and there are people there to answer questions and give tours

As a professional photographer I've shot weddings and elopements at the Capitol building many times and I can say it's a perfect location for a small wedding. The beautifully well-maintained grounds combined with classic architecture provides the perfect backdrop for couples portraits. Free parking on Sundays is a plus!

This was the second state capitol we visited on our road trip. We enjoyed being able to park for free in the capitol visitors parking area and then took the short walk to the capitol building. The grounds around the capitol had nice landscaping. Unlike the self guided tour in Oklahoma, we chose to do a guided tour as the building was very busy. Our guide covered a wide array of information on the capitol building and the history within. If you are in Austin, would recommend visiting this capitol.

Really cool tour! The park outside of the capital was big had had very interesting statues that share the history of Texas. The actual building was massive and really fascinating. You can go on guided tour or just roam around yourself.

Positive emotions after visiting the Capitol in Austin, entrance was free, parking places are free too and very close to the place which is really rare for big cities, not crowded for weekend. Beautiful inside, you can feel and see the atmosphere looking through the chambers, pictures and all the information about, can go upstairs to see from the top. Recommended to visit!

Very nice place to take friends and family visiting Austin, it is very big and there are private tours that you can take for relatively cheap. There is a library that is able to be used anyone, you can also check the many features inside of the Capitol, such as the Supreme Court, the Library, and the Speakers hall. The wait time is super fast and you barely have to stand outside in the line. I would recommend this place to anyone to visit as it is packed with a lot of great things to see!

This is an extremely pretty building and an architectural marvel. There are many culturally significant monuments on the grounds and even more within the building. You can easily spend a couple of hours browsing the grounds and interior on a first visit. Be sure to explore the closed areas that are marked for public entry such as the Governor's Reception area. You'll see a lot more than folks just exploring the rotunda rings.

We will definitely be back to visit our amazing capitol and would love to bring the rest of the family along! Thank you to all the employees that work there and keeping us safe!

The Capitol Building of Texas is unique in several ways. The colour of the structure itself falls into the pink spectrum in my eyes and the dome depicts what the state is known for, the lone star. There is also a monument dedicated to the fallen Confederate soldiers on the Capitol ground, if I am not mistaken. This is probably the only Capitol with an enacted Confederate monument after Alabama.

The Texas State Capitol is an impressive building that is steeped in history and is definitely worth a visit. The grand architecture, including the stunning rotunda, will take your breath away. As the seat of the Texas state government, it's where laws are made and passed, and as a visitor, you can witness democracy in action. During a live legislative session, you'll see elected officials actively debating and discussing important issues that affect the state and its citizens. It's a unique opportunity to witness the inner workings of government and gain insight into how laws are made. The Texas State Capitol is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in politics, history, or architecture.

Unfortunately lot of construction work going on when I was there night to again. Huge park area in front of the building with historic information. The congress Avenue is exactly opposite to the building and looks fantastic from the street.

Interesting and beautiful working building which houses Texas law makers. You are able to visit the building but I guess there could be restrictions at some dates, tours are taking place all the time which you can easily join and last about 20 to 30 minutes.

Very cool experience! You can take a free guided tour throughout the building, the tours happen every 15 minutes. There’s lots of ornate decorations that are very detailed, unique, and intricate. The architecture is beautiful too. Karen was our tour guide and she did a very good job at answering all of our questions. I could tell that she was very passionate about her job. Overall a very fun and informative tour. We even got to enter the chamber for the House of Representatives and the senate. I learned a few things about Texas and it’s history that I didn’t know before. A nice way to spend your day out of the hot Sun. You can also take the tour by yourself since there are pamphlets next to the tour section. Be sure to come prepared because they check your things and run you through a metal detector.

Staff was super friendly. Confusing in where you could or couldn’t go I just kind of wandered and joined a tour here and there. Under construction so was hard to get a quality photo in front shopping with the trees but there at least provide some shade. Biggest pleasantry was the super friendly staff when you enter to get screened.
