This is a relatively small place, shouldn't take more than 2 hours to see most of what they offer if you're a slow walker. It was gorgeous and packed with many wildflowers, a really great location for kids to hike as well. I would definitely go back for hiking and just being in the outdoors in general.

We visited the other evening on one of their late night (I believe every Tuesday through spring). It was $15/person, there was live music, a bar, food trucks, and an ice cream truck for the late night event from 5-8pm. This place was great for kids and families with everything from flowers, trees, trails, playgrounds, and plenty of room to bring your own chairs or picnic blanket! It is also a great date night spot. Plenty of places to sit and enjoy nice conversation or a picnic. I definitely recommend visiting weather you’re a local or coming from out of town! There are memberships that typically pay for themselves within a few visits—we will be investing in one!

Had a really fun time visiting Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower center. So many wildflowers and they had amazing spots for pictures. It feels like a dream. They also have long trails and short trails and you can walk them depending on the weather. I love the observation tower. Their gift shop is so cute and filled with amazing gifts for you or loved ones. If you haven’t been there and want to see blue bonnets or other wild flowers, definitely visit.

The Wildflower Center is a beautiful sanctuary of pathways, gardens, plants and outdoor spaces that never disappoints. Lovely garden walks, pretty rock archetecture buildings and nature galore. Enjoy the cafe and gift shop as well. There are also excellent outdoor playplaces for the kids to run, climb and have fun. The signage all around provides information about all of the native plants. Wonderful day trip destination, highly recommended.

I flew to Austin specifically for Bruce Munro's Field of Light opening at the Wildflower Center. The installation, an amazing display of 28,000 stemmed spheres that are subtly lit by solar powered fiber-optics covers 16 acres in the Arboretum at the Wildflower Center. On opening night we were also graced with a full Harvest Moon making for an even more memorable experience. Make sure you book your tickets with sunset in mind. It's about a mile walk through the installation. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Another great outdoor gem in Austin. Trails and beauty with picnic tables and benches along the way. This time we went for the Field of Lights display and I highly recommend. You do pay but worth it and there is a bar/beverage truck and food as well. The overlook has tables and is a balcony overlooking the nature and lights. They had headphones to listen to 3 different stations of music and possibly the most romantic date someone can have strolling with a loved one. It’s going on until April or May checkout their site.

Came here during quarantine and was happy for the pick me up. I was happy to see that people in Austin know and enjoy this place regularly. The extensive amount of flora and knowledgeable staff will keep any nature enthusiast coming back for more and I hope to return soon.

Absolutely gorgeous wildflower center dotted with all sorts of native Texas flora. Would go again! P.S. The Family Fun Nights they held for the four Thursdays of June (free) were awesome! Perfect for children who want to learn more about the flora of Texas!

We took an awesome Nature Poetry class with Dyhanara Rios! We got introduced to some poetry terms, got a tour of the gardens with a horticulturalist, and wrote some poems. It was a ton of fun and we will be back for the class in November.

Good but not that much great. This is a nice place for walking in flowers and trees. For children, there are small playgrounds but not that exciting. If this is near hour ppace, like in 10 minutes, this will be a perfect choice for your free time only if it is free. There are some days that free entrance is offered, so seek for it. Almost all the things are outdoor, so much dependant on the weather. Think about your clotes, umbrella, and hydration. Staffs are great.

It's absolutely stunning, and it's a fantastic spot for a scenic stroll and photography while the Bluebonnets are in full bloom, ( we went on March 31) There's a lot to see, so you'll probably need to come back a couple of times depending on your mood for a long, long walk. A beautiful body of water with this adorable stone tower and other buildings .Entrance completely is $15 for adults and parking is only for your good luck. There are also cafe, gift shop and auditorium.

Beautiful area with such a wonderful assortment of plants and flowers. Great for a morning walk or time out with family. Next time I'm going to try and work my way through the trails.

This was difficult. I went in Oct of 23’. The area was recovering from a drought. There were small delights here and there. Swings on trees. The trails were well maintained but the center didn’t look any better than a well maintained city park. -there were a series of plants/trees in cages? Like a petting zoo for plants. Not much fauna outside of the strategically planted trees and plants. -they did good by putting the kids areas area on the opposite side of the “trail” but you could still hear the kids screaming from across the park -some plant and flower life but there were large parts of nothing but “hill country” where there wasn’t a lot to look at. -I went in Oct so admittedly there was as much in bloom as in April-September. -think of your $15 as In investment into wildlife conservation. That’s what’s makes the mediocrity of the trails a bit more bearable

Great place if you enjoy flower blooms and trees. Informative free volunteer tour that is definitely worth it. Wonderful things for young children to do. The Cafe was wonderful and the Mushroom Arugula Sandwich with its tangy pesto was delicious! Worth it for a day visit!. Great barefooting experience to walk the trails and experience nature up close!

Visited the field of Light art installation and was blown away. I plan to go back and visit again but probably not on a Saturday night. That seems to be their most popular night, so naturally there's a lot more people. Getting there before sunset was interesting, but personally I think I'll come later in the evening when it's already dark. It was kind of cool to watch the beautiful sunset pass over the field and see the lights slowly come on, but I think the biggest impact of the installation is when it's completely dark. Pay attention to the cycles of the moon as well, because coming on a full moon means it won't be as dark. My still look cool... But I'm going to come when it's a new moon weekend. Parking was pretty easy. We parked off site and they had a shuttle going back and forth fairly regularly to drop us off right at the start of the exhibit where we had to do security check-in and get our tickets scanned.

Fortlandia is always a great time!! My kiddos love to explore. We love the open fields and kids activities! Beautiful flowers! We like the ability to see reptiles and bugs along the paths too! Worth the membership!

Go on a cool day and there is much to explore. Admission is reasonable and if you become member it's good value if coming multiple times with kids. Really fun for kids , lots of plants and trees and flowers and butterflies... Wear comfortable clothing as you will likely get dirt on it. The little reading nook in the colorful cabin house is such a fun idea. Enjoy the view from top of the tower to appreciate the hill country beauty.

A must-see if you are in Austin and enjoy learning about native flowers, plants, and species! I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and learned so much about the flowers and plants I encounter around Austin day-to-day. Be prepared to spend many hours here. There is so much to see. I also highly recommend visiting at various times throughout the year to see different species that bloom during specific times.

For clarity's sake of this review I must say that I was attending a special event there in the evening in the auditorium. It was a KUT symposium on landscaping and how we can use that to prevent climate change and adverse effects to our city with the incorporation of more green spaces, green roofs and pocket prairies along with the use of alternatives to lawns. The facility itself is quite impressive and very well kept. It has a wonderful spacious layout and a lot of beautiful yet organic feeling design work. The auditorium itself is quite impressive with its seating and ability to host a large group for the audio-visual movie presentations or for hosting a symposium type situation . The staff that was there was quite friendly and very professional and everything went according to plan and schedule. The gardens in the evening with the Twilight into darkness time was very beautiful to see also. The lighting is pretty and tasteful, yet not overly bright or ostentatious. For this special event hosting, I have to highly recommend the Lady Bird Johnson wildflower center and award them a five-star review.
