We never knew this was here ! We all enjoyed it! My husband found this place on a post from Instagram. We went to visit with our kids. We all didn’t know much about Elisabet Ney but after our visit we all learned something new. They provide a booklet of very informative information for you to read along the way. It also goes by numbers so you know what your reading on. I highly recommend and don’t forget to go upstairs

This studio museum was amazing to explore. Love Elisabet Ney and her husband's history. The studio she designed was equally impressive. Her clay sculptures were beautiful, including the last piece she had worked on before she died, Prometheus! This place is a must for anyone visiting Austin. Architecture was incredibly designed and built by her, totally functional and resembled a small castle.

Free to public..museum had docent (guides) to help you around or if you want to go alone cheat sheets. I love the fact it's free and about a female artist that I didn't ever hear about before. Please go to the web site and vote for them. More of these hidden gems need to be saved. No bathrooms..and staircases to climb.

Such a pretty building with so much history! I have been to the state Capitol many many times but after visiting this museum I found out that the statues of Sam Houston and Stephen F. Austin we’re done by Elisabet Ney! It was really amazing to see her multiple attempts before she did the final product that was in the Capitol it’s self! There were so many other statues that you could read about and you could go all the way to the top of the building into her work/ private room! The trials behind the building were just as cute with the bridge over the creek! I would recommend going here before the state Capitol!

Went on a free day, Sunday! Museum is so beautiful it’s like a time capsule. There’s so much to learn and admire. There’s a packet guide that you receive at the entrance so you can better understand the art pieces you’re looking at. The garden outside is nice. The curators are kind and informative. I hope to return again.

What a gem. Found by accident as I was in the area getting lab work and after a coffee and saw the sign for the museum.

Such a fun little museum. They have a lot original plaster casts and a couple marbles. The building and lot were awesome with secret doors and a bookcase door that we got to look at. The kids loved all the secrets. Nice little contemporary show of wall art in one room that is has rotating shows.

One of my favorite museums in Austin. Great sculptures by Ms Ney. From Mad King Ludwig to Stephen F Austin and Jesus. Also other exhibits and a look at the history and life of her and her family. Oldest museum in Austin too. Great outside walking area and a park across a bridge with tennis and areas to picnic

Elisabet Ney was such a talented sculptress. Definitely worth the visit. The staff was so nice and helpful. My sister and I were excited to find a portrait of our 2x Great-Grandfather. Dr Ralph Steiner was Ms Ney’s physician and friend.

Wow, this place is a gem among gems! We were met by an extremely helpful curator who gave us a history of the museum. The building is stunning and you simply must experience the charm of being surrounded by the sculptures. A must see in Austin!

Small, but impressive museum in Central Austin. I've driven past this museum hundreds of times and never noticed this mini-castle that's a block off of 45th street. If you're curious about Austin/Texas history, this museum is worth checking out. The architecture of the building is pretty cool see. Inside there's various sculptures of famous European and Texas figures.

Very unusual collection of Ney's sculpture art work and family history. There isn't an admission fee but donations are encouraged.

A small historical and natural museum close to downtown. Being in Austin, I wasnt aware of this place for a quite long time. Visited for an Art exhibition. The sculptures were arranged and decorated with lot of efforts as you can see from pictures. The place is well preserved from the old times including the staircases. The chair at the lawn and garden was very peaceful. Checkout the timing in the Facebook page for any special events. #HappyVisiting

Great small museum for visit even if you are not the sculptures expert, you can enjoy the story of this wonderful talented woman and her husband, loved the interior and atmosphere, you will have a list with names of presented sculptures. Absolutely recommended if you are in Austin, no cost, not crowded, located in green zone.

I do not recommend this museum unless you are a great admirer of sculptures and have no mobility issues. There is no elevator in this house museum. The bathroom is downstairs, and there is no safety railing. Basically, you can guide yourself along the rustic wooden stairs. That's if you aren't in need of a mobility device. I have osteoarthritis and found the stairs too difficult to visit the outside balcony. The landscape is rather eccentric as it's kept in a natural state. Which is just a fancy way of saying everything is overgrown. There are very few personal effects. But if you are interested in sculptures there is a multi page stapled hand out with more details on what is in this studio.

We loved this place. I love seeing old architecture in a place you wouldn't expect. There are many sculptures and paintings to see. There is also an upstairs to visit inside. Be aware that the stairs are narrow. Also outside is great for filming and taking pictures. The staff was very helpful.

This place is weird, looks abandoned, no signs for entrance or parking. Had photos of random people in one of the rooms wearing "grills" and walking a dog. Nothing had labels on it, and the one question we asked they didn't know the answer too. But the building is cool, and the staff is friendly. They should use some donations for upkeep on the grounds.

I’ve been here when I was younger before and it was pretty interesting. I liked looking at the different sculptures and trying to interpret what their emotions might have been in that captured moment. It was pretty interesting and fun.

This is a cute old house that celebrates the work of a great local artist from year's past. Amazing sculpture work from this talent lady. It is great her legacy lives on
