Scripture Falls is a 25- to 45-minute hike from the Barton Creek Greenbelt Trailhead (depending on whether you’re a fit adult or you have kids and/or curious pups in tow). Watch for signs warning when it’s not safe to be in the water (there’s toxic algae that grow). It’s scenic and there’s lots of space to hop between the rocks, just sit and take in the scenery, or (if it’s safe) enjoy a swim. The trail to/from is well maintained and easy to follow. There aren’t water stops or bathrooms on the route, so be sure to take that into account when planning your visit. A great afternoon hike to enjoy getting into nature without having to venture far out of the city.

The hike is amazing but if there is anywhere else to park and walk from other than on the side of S Mopac I would opt for it. There is a very high chance your car or someone you go with will get broken into. It’s not worth a $300-400 window repair. Don’t leave any valuables in your car, or just don’t go at all. Pictures of my car that got broke into today below.

Always will love this place. Lots of room to swim and very dog friendly. Came in through the Scottish woods Trail entrance.. just a heads up you have to pay to park there now!! I think it's $2 an hour and you download the park atx app.

Went for a early morning hike with the Mrs. it was a beautiful sight and can't wait to go back after a few rains. The hike is moderate a few steep inclines but fairly smooth when you are near the water.

I’m glad you are reading this review to temper expectations. I bookmarked this place because I saw it on TikTok and thought it would be great to visit. On 7/3, I went to see the Falls despite reading previous reviews stating that it was bone dry. I can confirm that. I carried more water in a half empty 8 oz water bottle than what the Sculpture Falls had. It is a moderate hike with slippery stones. I encourage you to proceed cautiously and with sound judgment. Photo is taken adjacent to the trail and is essentially what the “Falls” look like.

Beautiful and a good distance for new hikers. There's inclines and when it's summer the river flows strong. You can see wildlife all around you if you take a moment to stop and listen. I like hiking it in the fall and winter for there aren't nearly as many people and the trail can get pretty tight when crowded in a few areas. When the water is dried up you can walk where the river would flow and it's a serene feeling. Also adds some mild intensity to the hike. If your a climber there 1 spot year round under the route 1 bridge you can climb that will keep your skills in shape and when the water is dried up there is a few other spots you can where the river usually is. Only down side to this spot is you can hear cars off the highway so you never get that completely lost in nature feeling. But still a great area!

Don't go here to find water right now (Aug 2, 2022..) it is DRY, but if you're looking for a good hike in 100° weather, it is definitely that. I'd love to see it when the river is running. (Photo below is the only water we found, stagnant and small probably 3miles or so up trail.) Beautiful hike though

There was no water at the time of this review, if you're going to sculpture falls to cool down, don't waste your time! It's a beautiful hiking trail though so if you're going to hike, it still has that option available.

This time of the year it is kind of dried out. But you can find residual ponds here and there. Bit long hike from the parking area. But it is worth the effort.

Beautiful spot to hike. You can hike as long as you like along side the dry river bed (do not know if it really fills and when). The path is narrow and some people were biking which was not so safe for them or the hikers.

Around 45 minute walk from the trailhead. Most of the trail is shaded, but bring a small bottle of water with you. The falls were dry in October due to lack of rain, but still had some standing water. The rock formation around the falls are nice to see.

Beautiful place to hike! Definitely bring a map or use a map app so you don’t get lost, there are a lot of trails that run parallel to the main train that make it confusing. Great views and a fun place to adventure!

Nice to see there are natural swimming pools so close to a major city. Very accessible via trails. Not so much water this time of the year though. September 4 2021

Mid September 2021. Not much water and a bit of a hike, smelled a little bit. Rock formations were cool but I was a bit disappointed not to see actual “waterfalls”. Spring or summer might be better times to go when it rains a lot.

I love hiking sculpture falls. When it rains its beautiful with two waterfall areas. Not huge but still beautiful. You can take the family and the dog. The first is twin falls and isn't that far of a hike. Maybe about 15 minutes or so. If you want a longer hike continue on to sculpture falls which is about a 40 minute hike.

Sculpture falls, about a 2-mile hike from the entrance at twin falls, pretty spot! You can also hike there from the other direction.

Suitable for walking with shade, but the waterfall has no water.

Trail run out to here was fun, just be aware is narrow. You'll have to be patient as you'll get stuck behind people which can be annoying if you're trying to go fast. Everyone was very good about moving out of your way and saying hi. It can get fairly technical as far as trail running terrain goes. The falls were all dry when I got there so that was a little unexpected, but still it was fun. Round trip from the trail head is 3 miles so be prepared.
