Visited on Saturday 9/4/21: all of the park facilities are still closed for construction but you are able to camp, hike and swim. Beware of stickers everywhere! Especially if you have kids and pets. That's my only complaint for this park. The shorelines along the river offer plenty of shade green space along the water. There is a nice sand beach and two docks with safety ropes that enclose a protected swim area. Definitely bring a sun umbrella to use on the beach since the beach is 100% non-shaded. I highly recommend securing a reservation because capacity is limited and walk-in day passes are sold out by noon on most weekend days.

Very nice park! Went for a swim day with my friends and we brought our tubes. So nice clean water and great views. There is a $5 day entering fee which is pretty reasonable in my opinion. Nice bathrooms and showers. Great place to spend the day with friends and family or to even grill or have a picnic.

Has some great views and good trails that are somewhere in the middle on the difficulty scale. The park is getting a bit crowded now especially on weekends. Parking can be hard to find but would suggest to wait by the trail entrance to catch someone leaving.

Great lake! Went 6/22/22. Was pretty cold, but felt amazing since it's already so hot in June. Puppy loved it too and enjoyed swimming to help cool off! Lots of people riding boats in the water which created nice little waves! There's also alot of shaded areas to sit under near the water. Thankfully the park wasn't too full and parking was easy and close for the weekday. The water was also clean. Definitely check this place out! 🤍

My favorite park of all time. It has so many fun things to do like biking, volleyball, and even swimming. I definitely recommend going here at least once because it is worth it.

Love love love this place. A friend of ours introduced us to it, it was a delightful day in the sun. Things to note: beach has very little shady places (but that’s kind of obvious for beaches) so bring sun protection. There are a lot of trees to set up under but they’re a little further up shore. Water was REALLY cold at beginning of June but you get used to it. Biggest note: google gps will tell you that you’ve arrived about two-three miles before you get to the actual beach park. It told me I arrived when Park City Rd intersects with the motorcycle trail, with a big sign, so it’s easy to go “oh I guess this is it” *turns left* This isn’t a critique on the park, more of a quibble with the gps. But just be aware and you’ll be fine. (Easiest directions would be “take park city allll the way straight to the end, no turns. You’ll arrive at a park entrance with a $5 electronic ticket machine.”) Highlights: watching the water foul, bouncing around in the water in the boats’ wake. They’re far away but the waves hit the beach and it’s fun. Several docks to jump off, and ladders to climb back up. Roped off sections for differing deepness. Plenty of room for blankets and play, plenty of parking, even when busy. We will definitely add this to our “frequent summer fun” list!

I can't wait to go back to this park! It's quiet, safe, beautiful and the best part: you can park/camp right in front of the water!! Why only 4 stars? Bathrooms are too far away 🤣 I think there should be at least 2 facilities (one on each end). Water and electricity hookups available. Great for fishing, camping, or photography

Beautiful time of year to be at Emma Long, if you can stay out of the heat! Beach area was a little crowded but lots of room for kids to romp. There was plenty of space in the rest of the park to set up a picnic under a tree. Amazing access to the lake for only $5 a car! We took a friends pontoon out and enjoyed the bridge and various other parks along the water.

Love how this place has a small area sectioned off for swimming. The wake from the boats makes it like a natural wave pool. Lots of parking when its not busy. Enough trails to come back more than once. I look forward to returning to camp. Two boat ramps. Boat traffic might make the waters a bit choppy for beginners in kayaking or paddle boarding.

Me and my husband love this place. It’s a beautiful park on the bank of the Colorado river. Great place for picnic and camping.

Nice city park. They have grills but come early on the weekend if the weather is nice because people come early and claim the spots with grills. They have campsites you can reserve and picnic tables for day use. You can swim in their beach area or along the river.

If you can make it by on a week day I recommend doing this for the solitude. It was very quiet, serene, and relaxing for my family to come on a week day after school is back in session. Well maintained space with plenty of shade, adequate restrooms + showers. Bring a picnic. No glass, of course. And make sure your pups are leashed and don't get into the swimming area.

My favorite park in Austin. They have restrooms, plenty of trash cans, tables, grills, and a little tiny beach/pier. Views are beautiful. I've only been on a weekday and the crowds are pretty thin any of space to have your own picnic area and water area. Weekends are probably a completely different story.

amazing park with beautiful flora And animals. We enjoy watching the squirrels climbing up the tree. The air here is super fresh and gives a nice break from the headaches of living in a big city.

After the ice storm, we had a glorious 74° sunny day (gotta love TX weather), so I took my young kids and small dog to go on a "nature walk"/hike. My kids requested this spot in particular because we went on Christmas day 2021, and they went one other time with friends. We all enjoyed it, and they liked walking in the water (though they said it was freezing - go figure lol). The kids and the dog napped on the way home, so I'd say that's a success!

Well Organized primitive camping sites, and RV parking. Water available, but make sure to take a long hose in case it is not close by. Plenty of parking. A picnic table comes with your site. Plenty of trees. 2 cars per site. Walking distance to water.

A Wonderful lake, we spent some hours there, it was amazing, it was a great day for swimming, a lot of families were there enjoying their day, the kids was so happy to play with sand and swim, it’s a great place I really recommend it, don’t hesitate to go there. Just buy your tickets online, and go early morning to find we’re to park 👍

I had a fun time swimming here, water was cool and refreshing. I came on a Wednesday and we got in without a problem, but you do need reservations on the weekend. I did notice a lot of fire ants ! So be careful with your littles, try to put your stuff on a bench table if possible, stuff was crawling on our blanket. Besides that it was nice and shady under the tree, lots of pretty shells to look at!

We got there around 12ish and it was pretty full. Lovely place to take the kids for bday party or party in general. Spacious. Make sure to bring your own equipment for bbqs. And everything for a day trip to the lake. Also make sire to purchase your ticket in advance as they sell out.

Beautiful park . One of my favorite. It's a heaven for campers. Highly recommend this beautiful park. More detail: In 1939, Civilian Conservation Corps Company 1805 that had just finished Bastrop State Park moved to the site to begin developing the tract of land into a municipal park. The company's primary work included seeding and sodding grass, planting trees, and protecting the bank of the lake from erosion. They built docks, piers and a boathouse.[2] They also built a wooden bath house and concession stand. These wooden structures burned and were replaced with stone structures that are still in use. In 1984, the Austin City Council renamed the park after Emma Long, a former Austin City Council Member. Long was the first woman to serve on the council of a large city in Texas. She also served as the first woman Mayor Pro Tem from 1967-1969.[
