You must have your ID to enter this museum . We went there on weekend and there was a ww2 demonstration going on . It was a treat to watch . Museum is small but informative. Do visit during some activities . Watch their calender and plan accordingly.

This place is great! It's extremely informative and there is a lot to read so you can find yourself really spending a lot of time there if you're interested in an education. It's a pretty large museum and they have a lot of full size exhibits like trucks and tanks and helicopters. The people that work there are very nice so I'd head down there midweek and enjoy yourself and make sure to look at the aircraft across the way as well. IF YOU HAVE KIDS. This is a quiet place with a lot of awesome things to see however if you are one of these parents that is not in control of your children and they're going to be screaming and yelling and treating this place like it's Chuck e Cheese then just wait until they either get older or you learn somehow how to become a parent but don't go here and ruin this place for everyone else with your spawn.

The museum has many wonderful passive and interactive displays, unique artifacts, and actual equipment, vehicles, and armament from the history of Texas' Military. We went for their Living History days, in which brave volunteers dress up in authentic uniforms and reenact battles of WWI, WWII, using everything they can to make it both authentic, yet enjoyable. My kids loved it. They run almost exclusively on donations, which go toward restoration, preservation, and education programs such as these. Lots to learn and do, and it's just outside downtown Austin.

AMAZING! This is truly a hidden gem in Austin, Texas. They have so much amazing history here with over 25 actual tanks, some you can climb on and even pretend to be all you can be. The staff is very nice and friendly, the cost is ZERO and you can even sit inside a jet cockpit. We will be back to explore this museum more.

This is an amazing gem in Austin. Beautifully designed with amazing military gear. There is even a tactical nuclear missile! Make sure to have your ID with you to drive in the base. Otherwise, there is no fee to enter and you're allowed to take photos. Please follow me if you like this review for more honest and independent reviews.

A hidden gem with decent exhibitions and stunning war stories. One can easily spend more than two hours in this awesome museum. Also don’t forget to check the tank rows at the other side.

Such a cool experience! Seeing so many tanks and other armored vehicles to explore was such a unique feeling, never got close to a Patton or a Abrams like that ! They have plenty of history regarding the conflicts involving Texas. They also have aircraft outside of the museum to explore as well. The staff was wonderful and we learnt many great things about the bravery of Texans and the US military. So many items in collection, for being a free educational museum. This was amazing. I recommend to all to come and visit !

Great experience if you have children or love history. The museum dates back to the Texas revolution and has some of the most intricate models of the battles that have taken place in Texas. They have tons of military vehicles to see and 2 that you can climb in to check out. The people working there are incredibly nice and knowledgeable. It's also free and air-conditioned, so perfect for those hot summer days. Google maps will try to take you to the other entrance to camp Mabry that's closed. Make sure you are entering the base from 35th street.

This is a hidden gem in Austin that is well worth a visit if you live here, and a detour if you don't! A great collection of military artifacts from Texas war for independence all the way to present day, with an impressive tank and artillery collection from World War I onwards. Of special note is Erwin Rommel's (The Desert Fox!) field marshal cap. War is hell, but being able to reflect on the past through this museum is a privilege. Will definitely come again!

If you are interested in history and military forces, you are in the right place. Well organised, not crowded, full of interesting information with videos, stories and demonstration staff. Big comfortable museum in a military base with polite personal working there. Very recommended for visit.

When you first walk in and look around, you're thinking this isn't that much but , you have 3 rooms that are amazing. There is also so many tanks on the outside of the museum, this place is amazing and I would love to return and go through it again. It took 3 hours to go through the museum, it could take hours to go through if you read everything. Thank you to the staff at camp Mabry.

A simply wonderful museum with artifacts dating back to Early Texas history as well as most major international wars. It has a military focus but tremendous information that is not necessarily military in context highly recommended and free.

This museum is a hidden gem for sure. I've been to military museums all over Europe and the West Coast, but this one takes the case. First of all, it's free, but you're a sucker if you don't donate or buy something at the gift shop. There is American, German, Japanese, and Mexican artifacts in this museum. The most interesting thing was seeing Rommel's hat. Did not expect something like that at all.

The volunteers were absolutely wonderful and let us know what to expect as soon as we walked in. The gentleman that talked to our boys was really kind and knew the perfect way to interact with them which is very much appreciated. There is so much information in this building it is almost mind blowing. If you like any kind of US military history you will probably also find it interesting!

Highly recommend!!! Probably one of the best military museum experiences right up there with an aircraft carrier tour. So many cool military vehicles, equipment, and history. Best of all for families, this is a free tour!!!

Awesome U.S Military oriented museum with a wide selection of exhibits running from the begging of the United States created until Kosovo conflict and Afghanistan war. If you are interested in war history, the place is definitely worth visiting. Also has a outdoor area for bigger exhibits like tanks, planes and other military equipment. Plus staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the exhibits and I belive they are retired military personnel who have answers to all your questions. Plus the museum is totally free. I was there around two hours but would’ve needed more time to see everything.
