👍👍 Wonderful stop for a quick visit, (but if you're in a hurry, then skip it). Informative & little museum on the 2nd floor provides the history of the State Capitol building. A neat little gift shop, and travel center with brochures for all of Texas. (Restrooms too.) No food or drink allowed. Grea... Nice spot to check out if you’re visiting the capitol. I liked the scale model but out of Lego but there were several interesting exhibits.

A must see if you are visiting Austin. Visitors parking is free up to 2 hours. Roadside parking is available but not much. Don’t roam for free parking as it is not available, may be on Saturday/Sunday but not sure

Good place to accustomed with history of politics and geography of Texas. They have an exhibit center, history of this building, gift shop, Texas travel center and historical photographs. They also offered art tour which is completely free.

To be clear : my review is for the VISITOR'S CENTER ONLY. Many of these reviews are including the Capitol building itself. I am not. That tour and building is different. I had high hopes for the visitors center but it felt very lacking to me. The building is enormous and they could have done a lot more with it IMO. It feels ...lackluster and disjointed. None of the staff was friendly at all, especially not in the gift shop. It was okay but we are history buffs and weren't super impressed although we expected to be. I guess at least it's free lol.

So awesome to be able to go inside a State Capitol. Beautiful architecture and yes everything is bigger in Texas! This building is taller than the nation's Capitol building in DC

We had a wonderful time visiting the Texas state capital on our visit to Austin Texas. There is parking in a garage a few minutes from the location. We were able to go on a free tour with a guide. The capital is absolutely massive. The lawns are very clean and beautiful and there are squirrels running everywhere. This is the largest capital in the US minus the White House. I recommend walking around and exploring history while you’re visiting Austin.

Went on a field trip with my niece. Born and raised here and had never been. Very cool place. The guides are awesome and very knowledgeable. Even the people working in the gift shop were super helpful and friendly.

Omg. This place is gigantic I like how the government is willing to allow the public to visit the state capitol. So much of history about this building and it’s construction.

The Texas Visitor center is nice. It gives you more information about the building of the capital and the area then the tour that you can take in the Capitol building. It is very informative and air-conditioned. There is also a nice little gift shop. The bathrooms were clean as well.

Worth the visit, very rich in history and a very cool building for something built in the 1800 hundreds with a twist of 90's extension added to it. I recommend the tours around the building, it's free and very informative and after that you can wander to the 4th floor for more views. Don't forget to visit the visitor's center, good optics.

The city of Austin has always been a great place to visit and if you are looking for a cool history lesson, make sure you stop be the capital building. There is alot to learn here and soak up. There are really cool exhibits in the visitor center and alot of learning involved there too. This is a great place to have field trips and bring the kids to learn some Texas history.
