There are some things you should see in Austin and Texas The African American History Memorial is one of them. It is a grand memorial that stands mostly alone in front of The State Capital Builiding. It is massive in size and depicts the history of some of our American brothers and sisters. The memorial is the story of America, through the people who built it. It is not easy to swallow but it is necessary. The statute almost breaths, the two days I visited the wind was blowing and the memorial seem to come alive. I wish that every person in American could experiece this work, I know that It would change many peoples mind. I lost track of time, because there was so many details to meditate on. The cost of admission is nothing, it is open to the public, I highly reccomend this place to anyone, specially those who consider themselves American. What you should know, come with enough time so that you can take in the history. Bring a jacket in the winter and an umbrella in the summer. Consider walking here as it will make it easier for you to be chill. The State Capital Builing is upa short hill which is complimemtary, there is a restaturant inside the Capitol building that is accesible. Pack your patience and your open mind.

Such a perfect monument depicting the strength and resilience of the African Americans that overcame such a dark time. The monument really captures the tragedy of their history but at the same time the beauty and strength that shined through even at the darkest times.

Bravo Texas for this wonderful monument depicting and giving so much great African American history both in a global sense but how Blacks have contributed to the rich history in Texas. The sculpture work is amazing and tells a great story. B R A V O.

Absolutely breathtaking! The African American monument at the Texas Capitol ground is a powerful tribute to the rich history and contributions of African Americans in Texas. This Ed Dwight's sculpture beautifully captures the essence of Texas Revolutionary fighter heroes like Hendrick Arnold and Barbara Jordan. The depiction of Juneteenth on the central portion of the memorial is incredibly moving. A must-visit for everyone seeking to learn and appreciate African American history.
