Lovely trail. Awesome river. Unfortunately marred by an ongoing issue of safety. The parking lot is full of broken glass from cars being broken into. Our car was broken into and items were stolen. Not safe, and the Austin Police Department doesn’t really seam to care despite this being a COMMON issue. Don’t come to Austin to visit this place until the city gets their act together to address this issue. Go to one of the lovely water features outside of town, where you can have a lovely hike, fun swim, and come back to your car not having been broken into, your items stolen, and uncaring police. They know it’s an issue and they refuse to fix it. Austin doesn’t deserve the tourist revenue from the attraction. Support somewhere else that cares.

This is a great hike... I actually like hiking here. There's a lot of uphill and downhill or you can take the other trail that's more flat. The reason I give this trail only 3 🌟 is because safety. I would not recommend doing this trail alone, especially if it's not during peak times (10-5) on weekends. A lot of cars VISIBLY get broken into here. There was nothing but shattered glass throughout the entire parking area. Just be careful. There are PLENTY of other places you can hike or walk a trail and feel safe and know your belongings aren't likely to get stolen or even come back to a broken window.

Beautiful spot. Easy hike for the kids. Great swimming. This was the kids favorite spot on our trip. Our car window and the car next to us were smashed in when we got back. Don’t leave valuables in the car. One year later… I changed mine to 4 stars because the second time we came out we still saw shattered windows when we came back out. We met someone coming out of the trail that said the water was dried up due to the drought and within 5 minutes of walking for a bit, hearing that, and turning around back to the car, windows were smashed. Someone said the saw them running back into the woods. Our windows weren’t smashed this time, but this seems this is a common occurrence. There’s a police camera there now but that didn’t make a difference.

Love everything about this hike! There are always a lot of people here but all just having fun in the water. Find a place to sit in the creek along the way or hike however long you want. The trails are not too steep but some places you might need a little traction. Always enjoy going here by myself or with friends and it never disappoints. Also: it can be very hot in the summer of course so definitely bring a swim suit so you can cool off.

Amazing hike but there is a very high chance your car will get broke into in broad daylight. Don’t leave anything valuable in your car. Pictures of my car that broken into below

No water in sight 4/22/23. Lots of people around. Trails were not marked in anyway, seems like there used to be some signs but were never replaced. Easy enough to follow the well-trodden paths, but after about a mile we turned around - trail can be rocky and uneven. Did see lots of salamanders. We didn't see any freshly broken car windows, but definitely plenty of broken glass in the car park as others have said.

Out of towners.... cat fished by google! Make sure you double check if there is water... we were pumped and brought floating devices... needless to say the lack of water was a disappointment... BEAUTIFUL hike though. Also make sure your valuables are in the trunk. Walked by a smashed car window on our way out.

Pretty good hike. It does get a bit crowded on the weekends though. Water is low at this time of year so looking forward to going back during the summer. It’s not an off leash park but many people had their dogs off leash (to each their own). There’s a chunk of the trail that’s on rocks so careful where you step.

For hiking or biking it is a great place, considering it is in the middle of the city. Be aware it doesn't have public restroom. Also there are two different paths if you are into hiking go to the upper one. The one close to the creek it is better for biking.

Great short hike from the trailhead to Twin Falls. Easy to do with family and fur kids. Well maintained and a fun. Good way to spend the afternoon. Glad to have free access to nature just minutes from downtown.

Family friendly place, fun in the summer and cold weather days too. You can run, walk, bike. When there's water it's fun in the summer just check online and stuff first because when it's dry, you walk for miles for a water hole to jump in. We love it!

Great trail. Not a curated trail with purposely smoothed areas, and it can get a little tight at times as groups pass by in opposite directions, but the uneven terrain is never laborious. I have 2 medium sized dogs and they traveled without issue. While the trail is more or less a straight line following the creek, there is plenty of interesting distractions on the sides to keep it from ever feeling drab. Took my kids (each around 10), and they didn't have any trouble hiking it either, and loved the varied geography. Only downside is parking can fill up and stretch pretty far down the on ramp leading to the trailhead.

This hike has great coverage and the terrain is generally flat some rocks and branches. But I give it a 4 or 4.5 because the water was a lot farther than expected. But worth the journey. The water was beautiful. It’s about 2.5 miles into the trail, don’t get discourage.
