Van
zandt
I
was
excited
to
stay
at
the
Van
Zandt
as
we’ve
frequented
Rainey
Street
and
it
was
on
our
list
of
places
to
stay.
We
have
also
dined
at
Geraldine’s
before.
The
hotel
is
nicely
decorated
and
smells
incredible-
so
much
so
that
I
inquired
at
the
front
desk
about
the
scent.
Everyone
that
we
came
across
was
very
hospitable
and
kind,
welcome
drink,
and
bottled
waters
at
the
front
desk
were
a
nice
touch.
The
hotel
is
immaculately
clean
and
the
chandeliers
in
the
lobby
are
remarkable!
That’s
where
the
goodness
ends
though.
we
were
acknowledged
just
being
American
Express
members
and
were
told
that
the
complementary
upgrade
had
already
been
applied
to
our
room.
I
was
very
disappointed
walking
into
our
room
as
it
was
just
a
standard
room.
It
was
late
when
we
arrived
so
I
did
not
question
it
until
the
following
day
at
the
front
desk,
I
was
told
that
the
“upgrade“
was
being
on
the
“quiet
side“
of
the
building.
She
promised
me
to
see
what
could
be
done
but
never
followed
up.
That
in
itself
was
laughable-
our
room
was
on
the
10th
floor,
right
above
the
pool/patio/restaurant.
They
had
music
playing
loud
late
into
the
night
and
we
could
hear
the
commotion
of
people
outside
because
they
also
had
special
event
for
the
for
the
holiday
season
(rentable
igloos).
So
much
so
that
inside
of
the
room
we
were
provided
with
earplugs
and
a
white
noise
machine.
Not
an
upgrade,
but
even
in
normal
condition
not
acceptable.
Other
issues
within
the
room
include:
The
malplaced
Shower
hook
is
located
next
to
the
toilet
rather
than
next
to
the
shower.
The
water
temperature
only
reached
a
strong
warm
(I
take
hot
showers
due
to
a
medical
condition)
There
is
no
door
in
the
shower.
That
led
to
a
wet
floor
and
an
awfully
drafty
shower
on
top
of
not
being
able
to
reach
a
comfortably
hot
temperature
made
for
a
poor
experience.
The
website
advertised
“plush
robes”
but
what
is
in
the
room
is
the
polar
opposite.
The
rooms
provided
were
thin,
frayed
and
extremely
scratchy.
The
luxury
bath
amenities
are
probably
something
that
needs
to
be
reviewed
as
the
scents
were
extremely
particular
and
strong.
For
example,
the
shampoo
had
black
pepper
which
is
not
a
neutral
scent
and
only
appeals
to
a
small
population
of
people.
The
brand
of
the
amenities
was
nice
and
I
feel
that
this
is
a
missed
opportunity.
It
should
be
noted
that
there
is
no
coffee
in
the
room
although
the
hotel
does
provide
it
free
of
charge,
one
has
to
choose
to
either
trap
downstairs,
through
the
lobby
and
the
café
to
get
that
coffee
in
pajamas
or
get
to
a
presentable
level
first
and
then
get
your
coffee
on
the
way
out.
We
planned
on
dining
at
Geraldine
on
our
second
night
only
to
find
that
the
entire
restaurant
was
closed
due
to
a
private
event.
we
left
the
hotel
for
dinner
and
wandered
around
the
area.
When
we
came
back,
we
hoped
to
visit
the
bar
area
before
retiring,
but
were
told
that
that
was
also
reserved
for
a
private
event.
It
doesn’t
seem
transparent
to
advertise
these
two
amenities,
if
one
is
not
able
to
take
advantage
of
them.
These
things
negatively
affected
our
stay,
but
the
hotel
itself
might
have
been
enough
to
give
it
a
second
try
had
they
not
made
me
feel
that
they
were
less
than
honest
with
their
“upgrade“.
I
feel
like
they
just
checked
a
box
by
claiming
that
we
had
an
upgrade,
when
we
truly
did
not.
Also-
You
might
want
to
check
on
The
status
of
construction
before
booking
here.
We
were
unaware
that
three
sides
of
the
hotel,
or
surrounded
by
active
construction.
