Checked in tonight and have been beyond disappointed. Dialed 0 (as directed for "all requests") at 8:55 PM, asked to place a room service order and was connected to the restaurant. No one answered at the restaurant (seems like maybe it was deliberate, given that I was calling close to the cutoff), and I eventually reached an answering machine instructing me to leave a message, then a second message saying that the mailbox was full. Dialed 0 a second time, but no one at the front desk answered. Dialed 0 a third time, again no answer. Dialed 0 a fourth time (at this point it is 9 PM exactly), and the front desk person finally answers and informs me that room service ends at 9 PM. First of all - it's super weird for room service to end at 9 PM on a Friday night. Second - it's super annoying to adhere to a strict cutoff when no one can be bothered to answer the phone. I have two young children, and we ended up in this hotel very unexpectedly tonight because of circumstances beyond our control. A little empathy or even just meeting the very basic expectation of answering the freaking phone would have gone a long way. The person at the front desk who interacted with me was rude; I was clearly bothering her with my expectation to order dinner for my family at 8:55 on a Friday night. My husband and I stayed at this hotel shortly after it first opened and had a great experience, but I would not stay here again. It is not the same hotel. And there are so many fun places to stay in Austin now for the same price point. Places with employees that maybe actually care.

Paid for a once in a lifetime weekend at the South Congress Hotel for the night of my wedding and the next night. Toilet was broken. No hot water. Tv doesn’t work. This is what $900 a night buys you. Like I said this is a once in blue moon splurge for the most important weekend Of our life. So when I pay for such a rare experience - I expect to be treated with respect and get what I paid for. Their manager has been dodging me, the staff pretty much doesn’t care.

We used the South Congress Hotel for our wedding venue. While is was an investment we are so glad we chose this hotel. The location, atmosphere, food, rooms and service was incredible!! The team did a fantastic job and was very communicative and flexible where they could be. Would highly recommend having a wedding or an event at this venue.

I tried to go to first Thursday of the month and I had a feeling I didn’t get there in time to make it since I was walking there after dinner at a location down the street on soco, but I am leaving a low review because of the unnecessary rudeness I was treated with. Like I said, I wasn’t expecting to get in since I heard it ends early but I walked over there with a friend after dinner and arrived at about 9:20 PM. I saw the bouncers were taking down the line equipment and simply asked “what time does this event usually end at?” and they ignored my question and just yelled “we aren’t letting anyone in” and “we were at capacity a long time ago!”. I didn’t even try to go in I was simply asking a question about the event so I could know how to better plan attending it in the future but I think I’ll pass if that’s how the staff treats people. It was also my birthday and I was had a little tiara on and was just excited to be out and about but they were just mean and didn’t even listen to my question so it left a bad taste in my mouth.

Nicely located in the SoCo district of Austin. Our company had a convention there with a nice meeting room, catered breakfast. Lots of nice places to eat for our out of town guests.

If you're looking for a centrally located Austin wedding venue THIS IS THE PLACE. Every wedding I've attended here has been absolutely stunning and that starts with the venue. This is nothing like a typical hotel ballroom, but more of a modern wedding venue vibe. Very cool as is or can be a blank slate for someone looking to elevate the decor. The light around the hotel in the late afternoon is soft and gorgeous. One of my favorite special touches about having your wedding here is stunning suites that are perfect for getting ready on the day of your wedding.

This hotel is like expensive lipstick on a pig. The lobby and common areas make you believe the guest rooms will be fabulous, but don't be fooled. Most of the good reviews are for people who never even stayed in the rooms. The rooms are tiny, the floors are cheap, buckled laminate, and are dirty. There is very little lighting in the rooms, and they are suspended from their wires on a pole system that was intended to be "Austin Chic" but really is like a dorm room experiment. There is no fan in the bathroom, so the room fills up with steam when you shower, and the windows don't open so it's like living in a jungle. The noise from the events penetrated our second-floor room. And, for all this, we paid almost twice the going rate as part of a room block for a wedding. I guess it was the very common "wedding tax" you hear about all the time. The location is good for shopping and nightlife, so if you are into shopping and glamping, go for it. If you prefer comfort, go somewhere else.

A great stay in a great hotel. The rooms are minimalistic, and can feel a little dark, make sure to leave a light on if you intend to return to your room after dark. The pool is great, plenty of shade to keep comfortable, and a very good bar. In the room there is a clear window view of the shower from inside the room. A sexy little addition, but make sure you stay with someone you feel comfortable showering in front of, or seeing in the shower. I would absolutely choose to stay here again.

Be careful of hidden fees. Staff was cool. Rooms were nice. But since my employer covered my room charge I just put my credit card down for incidentals. I got a $70 charge on my credit card for “amenity” fee. They say this is for the things like the free coffee they offer in the morning and I should have been told this at check in. LOL! This is totally ridiculous. It’s not free coffee if they secretly charge you $70. OMG

The location is perfect and the space is so nice. But my favorite part of this hotel is the incredible staff. Bradley, Tyler, Ashley, and just everyone I encountered was so amazing. Thank you all so much for the best stay! 💜

Centrally located, modern independent hotel. Close enough to downtown, but far enough from downtown that you don’t know it’s there. Be sure to check out the cool Japanese restaurant in the building: Otoko.

My husband and I got married at South Congress Hotel this past weekend. It was a 90% destination wedding so many guests also stayed in the hotel for a few nights, including us. We (and our guests) cannot recommend SCH enough. The rooms are very clean and stylish; the pool and pool bar is just an amazing way to spend the afternoon with friends; and the service staff were amazing. As for having your wedding at SCH, we 100/10 recommend. It was the best weekend of our life, and a lot of that was due to the seamless wedding planning process with SCH, the beautiful event space itself, the ambiance of the hotel, the amazing service, delicious food, and the ability to have all your guests stay in one place and enjoy the pool together. We love SCH! Shoutout to Andrea, Chrissy, and Lindsay! Also shoutout Bradley at the lobby bar!!

From the minute you walk in, you are greeted by an earthly minimalist feel. Flourishing plants, concrete and wood textures and an abundance of natural light. The room was spacious and clean. The concierge found out it was our anniversary weekend and when we came back to the room later that day there was a personalized note, chocolate and champagne. Couldn’t have been a better location, right in the middle of all of the happenings, yet once inside the hotel it’s tranquil and tucked away. As an added bonus, there are also Tesla chargers in the parking garage, which made it really easy for us to charge up. This will be a reoccurring hotel for us when we come to Austin. Highly recommend.

We came for their First Thursday event that happens on the first Thursday of every month. The entire lobby and bar areas turn into a big party with djs, live music, and lots of drink specials. Very swanky, stylish upscale feel. We had a great time!

Beautiful place to stay and convenient for walking to local shops and restaurants. Stayed for a wedding, and the hotel treated everyone like royalty. Great food at their restaurant also. Worth the $.

My husband and I celebrated his 40th birthday in Austin (visiting from Southern California) along with our pup, and I’m so happy we stayed at South Congress Hotel! We love the south congress neighborhood and this hotel is right in the middle of it and walking distance to so many amazing places to eat, drink, play. But once you’re inside the hotel, the experience is incredible. It’s beautifully designed, so many restaurants, bar, coffee and shops on its premises. We had a little hiccup at the beginning with us being assigned a room we did not book, but without a hassle, the front desk staff made everything right for us and even went above and beyond in finding a solution. We’re so thankful to them for helping to not only fix things but make it so much better for us overall. It really made the trip more special! The rooms are cozy (the bed is so soft and plush) with such a cool layout and design details, the bathroom is modern and spacious. If you can stay in a room overlooking South Congress, do it! You won’t be disappointed. Dogs stay free and they even give them what seem to be freshly baked dog treats! We all had the best time and can’t wait to come back to stay here again. Highly recommend this hotel!

The double bunk beds were awesome for a girls weekend. However, they closed the bar for private events without giving any notice. That would have been great information at check-in or at booking. Additionally, the staff was either rude or completely ignored us during our stay. I wouldn’t stay there, again. Location was the best thing about our stay. The location is really the only reason to book this hotel.

I didn’t stay at the hotel, but I did pop in Friday afternoon for drinks and the service was fantastic. Chris the bartender was knowledgeable and personable, and his drinks were creative! Will definitely stop by when I’m back in town.

We stopped in to visit the bar which is one of our go-to spots. It's a very chill environment, plenty of seating and dj's on the weekends. Bartenders are great and you can order food too!

Had a wonderful stay at the South Congress Hotel. Easy, fast, and friendly check in and check out. Room was very nice, see the photos for details. Comfy bed, great shower, some interesting items in the mini bar :) Great location, just a short walk from lots of restaurants and shops.

Whenever I come to Austin this is the spot to stay! Very clean and great amenities and puts you right in the heart of the town giving you a great flavor of what the city has to offer. Also they always have something going on no matter what day it is. Fantastic experience.

This is the third year my husband and I have spent our Christmas weekend at The South Congress Hotel. I can not speak highly enough of those who worked this weekend from the front desk to the restaurant. They were exceptional, and made our stay memorable. I would give more stars if I could. Thank you to the wonderful staff who worked this weekend. We’ll be back next year!

Had high hopes for this hotel as it was a bit of a staycation. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed. The concierge was helpful at check-in but otherwise our experience was not great. The water in the shower was luke warm (at best). The air conditioner was not working and impossible to set. Finally, upon check out, I accidentally left an article of clothing in the room with a very expensive pair of earphones. It seems like the item was not found, but the hotel's policy for a direct inquiry is that security may call you back or they may not, and it might take them 48 hours or longer. If you call, to follow up, your'e basically told, I guess security didn't find anything. It would be nice for the staff to at least feign interest.

I love this hotel! Terrific location and great restaurants and bar area! Thank you, Bradley, for making my stay even better! The entire staff is amazing. Great room service too. Love the shopping options.

Just stopped in here for information. If you want a great room at a fair price, stay at the Holiday Inn Express and drive the few miles to S. Congress...for what you'll save in the room, you will have way more to spend on food and souvenirs.

We loved our stay at South Congress Hotel! The location, decor, and staff are all top notch and they even helped us when we needed an extra night stay due to a canceled flight. D'andre and the team went above and beyond to make us feel special. We can’t say enough good things about our stay at South Congress and can't wait to visit again soon.

Sam the bartender at the pool was amazing! He made our experience an absolute treat, he was welcoming, funny and helpful. Definitely coming back every time we are in Austin! We had a great weekend. Thank you to all the staff

Strange and quirky, but lovely. Yes, of course it's Austin! Lovely we got to stay here, but unusual to us, our budget usually much lower, this was a splurge. Noisy courtyard, well heard within the room. No ice/bucket, no coffee, no micro in the room. Great toiletries. Fantastic location, without street noise so the courtyard sounds was a surprise when we were sleeping in. Very nice accommodations, pool, great staff!

We checked into the South Congress Hotel and the team here were immediately amazing. Mike at the front desk welcomed us with a gorgeous grin and warm Texan hospitality. We stayed in the poolside suite and it was an absolute dream. Pricey, but awesome ammenities. Overall an epic stay. Mike, you made our trip super special. Such an awesome human. Keep sparkling dude. Thanks for a super memorable stay <3

Had a great experience at the hotel after a three night stay - staff is incredibly friendly and informative when it came to my city questions. The room itself comes down to the details and tasteful decor with a extremely comfortable bed. The photogenic pool and courtyard are great spaces and the bar had vibes. There’s also a cool boot spot across the street to get you going. Looking forward to my next time in Austin.
