If you are driving down the the South Coast of New South Wales, make sure to spend some time in Kiama and especially at the Kiama Blowhole. I remember going there when I was younger and you could literally stand right on the edge. These days there is high fencing all the way around it keeping spectators safe while they wait and watch for the blowhole to do it’s thing.

Always busy in weekends. If you are coming for the first time you would love it else, sitting in the park and enjoying the fresh air would be awesome. Public toilets as available down the road. Beautiful old lighthouse and blowhole are main attractions.

What a lovely spot. The blow hole is here too. You can see all up and down the coast from here. There are toilets, really good visitor centre with souvenirs and a cafe. I was here in off peak so wasn’t busy but imagine it would be in the holiday season.

Very fun place. There are just infinite things to do. You can walk on the towering rocks near the cliff and be amazed at the amazing scenery, you can go to the blowholes and watch the absolutely breathtaking water go up in a massive gust, or you can go on a walk on the rocks and go to the lighthouse, and get an astonishing view and some cool photos! I've attached some photos and videos below. As a bonus, you get a photo of my cat 😺

The Kiama Blowhole is a blowhole in the town of Kiama, New South Wales, Australia. The name ‘Kiama’ has long been translated as “where the sea makes a noise”.It is one of the town's major tourist attraction. Under certain sea conditions, the blowhole can spray 50 litres of water up to 25 metres (82 ft) in the air, in quantities that thoroughly drench any bystanders. There is a second, less famous blowhole in Kiama, commonly referred to as the "Little Blowhole" by locals. It is much smaller than the other (called the "Big Blowhole"), but due to its narrow shape, it is more reliable than the Big Blowhole, and in the right conditions can be equally spectacular.

Had a day trip at this beautiful place. I was of the impression that there are multiple blowholes but there is just one which is kind of a big one! You probably need to wait for a while to catch the rainbow or a proper water splash from the blowhole but the wait would be worth it. There is a beautiful park as well as the Rocks are AWESOME! Beautiful panoramic views ?

If you ever get the chance to visit Kiama, you should come to the Kiama Blowhole. I think it is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It is a stunning tourist attraction, one that surely will blow your mind! The view and the blowhole itself is spectacular, so don't you forget to bring your Nixon cameras (or whatever you use) to take pictures. I'm sure you'll get some very stunning shots from this place! Not only is this place a tourist attraction, but it is also a place to hang out with your loved ones, family and friends. Doing a picnic here and chill will be lovely. Happy exploring!

This place is a common tourist attraction in south coast due to its historical background. The local council in Kiama is doing a great job to maintain the beauty and cleanliness of the environment in this area. I visited this place many times bringing relatives and friends from overseas. The blowhole is a unique type of natural phenomenon that only the gravitical science can explain. Its beautiful to watch during high tide. If you are new to Sydney, don’t miss to visit Kiama lighthouse.

A beautiful scenic spot with a fabulous lighthouse and the added bonus of a famous blow hole! The views from Kiama lighthouse are truly breathtaking, and they get even better if you're lucky enough to be there for sunset. You'll also see whales depending on the time of year (though you'll need binoculars). There is loads of green space to sit on, as well as countless rock areas to crawl around and explore, and numerous benches to sit. The blowhole is fun, but not that much of an attraction unless you're lucky enough to be there on a day where the sea is rough and active enough to get it off big and often. All of the areas around the blowhole are fenced off for safety reasons. There is loads of parking available for free, which is a huge plus.

It was a little bit disappointing that I visited during a drizzling day and couldn't see the beautiful view of Kiama Lighthouse area properly. Centered around the lighthouse, the waves on both sides of the beach and the beautiful trees were spectacular. Moreover, the waves coming from the blowhole were beyond imagination. Parking is easy and there is a restroom at entrance.

We went when the tides were low, around 3pm after the drawing room rocks, but still worth the visit. Kiama is a beautiful place to have a stroll around with a coffee in one hand and your loved one on the other

Its great, worth the wait to see it blow high. In June there are strong sea swells giving the blowhole a spectacular show

Kiama Blowhole is a good place to visit with family and friends. You need to pick a day with rough waters for a bigger chance to get a good show out of the blowhole. It is very near to the lighthouse, information center and public toilets. There is ample parking available near the lighthouse and you can look at the blowhole from a deck or climb down some steps to get a closer look.

This... is not quite the place i had thought it was. Things have been... lonely... since my ex wife stopped me from seeing the kids. I had to take an anger management class to see them again but that ran into complications but that's a whole other review. Anyways when i unzipped pulled pack the packaging i was not met with the response i thought i would be. In the fuzz station at the moment, so if you do know the Karen that works out of Bed, Bath and Table please tell her Carl is in some trouble with the police again. Hopefully she's kept that savings account for my bail open...

Very nice experience. You can reach station by Train from Redfern. Travel time is 2hrs30mins. It's really nice experience. You can have good food varieties around station, Blowhole, Beach, Fish pond and 7km walk also available . Indian resturant also available near station. You can plan for one entire day to hangout. Choose bit Sunny day. You can walk along rocks on Ocean and can enjoy.

Very good ocean view. I went the second time with my friends during winter. The first time i went was during summer it was too crowded. But this time it was not that crowded. Since it was a cloudy day, the wind was so chill. The blowhole works well. It was so cool to see the natural phenomenon. It is a better place to take good shots. Especially near the rock beds but have to be careful not to get injured. We had a great time enjoying the view and taking photographs. There are picnic beaches as well to have meals while enjoying the beachy views.

A historic building that is next to a natural phenomenon, which is a blowhole that shoots up about 15 meter high. The landscape around the lighthouse is maintained quite well. Also, the views of the ocean and scenery are spectacular.

The Blowhole is lovely and it is a definitely an experience to be here, but my only suggestion would be to plan accordingly. Like I went from Sydney all the way to Kiama, so it took about good 3 hours. Otherwise lovely place to spend the day with friends/family or anyone you like! Have fun.

Kiama, and its lighthouse and coastline are emblematic of the whole of the NSW coastline. It is rough, wild, beautiful and a visitors dream. I have spent some time in Kiama. Some times coming down in the train from Wolli Creek (Sydney), which is an amazing train trip, and some times by car. I had to do a triathlon up the coast at Port Kembla and came down to Kiama and slept in my car at Storm Bay, which is the small bay right near the lighthouse. It was a stormy night and the crash of waves thundered through my car all night. It is a great memory. This is a must for anyone visiting the south coast of NSW.

Ample parking space but quite limited on a weekend. It get's really crowded esp in the "blowhole" area so don't expect a solo shot from there. Public restrooms are not ideal but again, it's a weekend. I encourage tourists and locals to clean up after themselves when they are done having their picnic.

  • 5/5 Rajeev 3 years ago on Google

  • 5/5 S D. 2 years ago on Google
The blowhole wasn't performing today unfortunately, however it's fun to climb the rocks and see the view. The lighthouse is also quite neat. However I feel like coming all the way over here to see a lighthouse is a bit overrated, what makes up for it though is the nice green area. You can see a lot of families having a picnic, with a beach nearby. Plenty of shops on the street too. Overall as a package, it's a wonderful area, nice and quaint and picturesque.

  • 5/5 Suzanne B. 2 years ago on Google

Kiama is such a beautiful tranquil place to visit. As an early 80's baby I was born in Kiama hospital so I have a special bond with this gorgeous coastal town. From the iconic terrace shops, to the Pink post office, Kiama lighthouse and the Kiama blowhole... it's the ultimate coastal town to visit. While you are in Kiama ensure that you visit The Kiama Lolly and Gift shop plus the Visitors centre. If it's good food you are after the Hungry Monkey never disappoints!

What a beautiful beautiful little town, that's got everything from beaches to rolling green hills and the lighthouse brings it all together along with the blowhole that's next to it. Such a great place to be regardless of the weather.

  • 4/5 Ross B. 2 years ago on Google
I guess this is a tourist classic. Be warned though, if the swell isn't working then neither is the blowhole :-) Only a few people around on a rainy, post pandemic weekday. The coffee place is pleasant. The tourist info/ shop closed.

Great place to visit. The main attraction besides the lighthouse is the blow hole. It wasn't very active today, but it was a nice day for a walkabout. Kiama is a small, friendly town with lots of eateries and coffee shops. Nice place for a day trip.

Great place to visit, blow hole is awesome but to get the best blow hole pics I suggest seeing it when it's high tide as more water will be pushed through

I actually don't want to rate this place at all because I don't want anymore people there, but it's such a really nice place. Great cafes, shops, places to walk, beaches etc even on a rainy day. I would move here and be very content.

Great Spot for parking if you are visiting the Blow Hole. Kiama light house is well maintained. the view there is so beautiful and all you want to do is take a lot of photo sit down relax. great place for a picnic with kids.

  • 4/5 Rohit S. 1 year ago on Google
Nice touristy place and beautiful blue water. We wanted to see the blow hole in full action but there were hardly any waves. I presume it would be best to check the swells and waves if you'd like to see the blow holes full impact. On hot days best to carry water and a hat. The car parking can get full.

  • 5/5 Simon C. 1 year ago on Google
The lighthouse itself is underwhelming. It's a bit short - it is well maintained but size matters when it comes to lighthouses. You come to this spot to see the ocean views and the blowhole, which is pretty cool, but best when there are waves, so it's probably best to come on a windy day if you want to see the spectacle of the blowhole. You can picnic here also or dine at the Diggies restaurant, which we really liked too.

  • 5/5 Jimit P. 1 year ago on Google
Beautiful location for a picnic. It’s got something for everyone from kids to families to youngsters to couples. Loved the walk to the waters edge through the rocks (closed toe shoes with good grip highly recommended). The blowhole was mesmerising. The area has ample parking and restaurants. Can easily spend a day walking around the area. Best done on a sunny day.

  • 5/5 Melissa S. 8 months ago on Google
We didn't originally intend to stop here. It was on our travel planner as a "if you have time, try and see this sight". However, I am so glad we went 8 minutes out of way from the highway, and would highly recommend stopping here. The views were incredible and, unlike many lookouts, there were several points and heaps of space from which to enjoy the view. Even though it was super busy when we went there, at no point did it feel crowded. The blowhole itself was also fantastically entertaining, and honestly really consistent! If you're really wanting to get that picture-perfect photo or slowmo video, you really only have to wait every 7-10 swells for a big one to come along. While we didn't partake in these, there were heaps of walking tracks and picnic spots if you have time for a longer stop. And the main street we drove down to get to the lookout was bustling with parks and cafes and shops. There was also a cafe at the top of the hill right near the lighthouse, and the public toilets there were some of the most clean and well-kept I've ever seen. Perfect if you need a moment on a long journey. Highly recommended, and would absolutely tell friends and go back myself.

The Kiama lighthouse mountain area is a perfect winter getaway. The sunny days and clear skies make for stunning views of the mountains and the ocean. There are not much activities to enjoy, A small town atmosphere is charming and inviting. Pros: Amazing views Perfect sunny winter weather Plenty of activities to enjoy Charming small town atmosphere Cons: Can be crowded during peak season Some activities, such as hiking, can be challenging Overall: This is a great place to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. If you're looking for a winter getaway with stunning views and plenty of activities to enjoy, this is the place for you.

Beautiful picnic area with spectacular sea views. Only 2 hours drive from western Sydney suburbs, it's a must go place if you are visiting Sydney. The Blow Hole is an amazing scene to witness; the way those waves splash so high through the hole is purely amazing.

Kiama Lighthouse in NSW, Australia, is a captivating blend of history and natural beauty. The classic white lighthouse against the backdrop of the ocean and cliffs creates a nostalgic charm. The walk to the lighthouse offers stunning coastal views, and the lighthouse itself stands as a sentinel over the iconic Kiama Blowhole. This unique location makes for a mesmerizing experience, where history meets the power of nature. Whether you're drawn to history or seeking breathtaking vistas, Kiama Lighthouse is a must-visit destination that leaves a lasting impression.

I like this lighthouse, the area nearby Kiama harbor park and coast walk are very beautiful. I enjoy watching people fishing here and the view is great. There are some benches that you can sit. And also grasses that you can picnic with your family and friends.

  • 5/5 Antara B. 8 months ago on Google
A beautiful lighthouse, a lovely view and a wonderful scenic location. You would love the enthralling view of the ocean and the sky meeting at the horizon. The main USP of this location is the blow hole amongst the rocks from where water from the ocean gushes in through some caverns and blows up from the hole forming a spectacular fountain formation. You may have to wait for sometime (around 10-15 minutes) to view an extremely huge formation from the blow hole. Apart from this, you can even explore the rocky beach or enjoy a leisurely laid back time on the well maintained lawn facing the ocean. To add to the charm is the town itself with it's cute little shops and eateries, to give you an overall mind boggling experience.

A must see. Kiama is well worth the trip from Sydney. Very windy at the headland but the walkway to the blowhole and around the lighthouse is very well maintained. The deep boom sound of the spray from the blowhole was unexpected and loud. I arrived on a Friday and found parking easily and was free. There is a toilet next to the information centre.

  • 5/5 Casey-Amba 7 months ago on Google
The Blowhole was cool to see. Hubby had told me many stories, when he was younger and seeing the blowhole boom as high as the lighthouse. Sadly for me, water wasn’t as high as I’d hoped but on that note it only took us three shots to get the selfie with the blow. There’s plenty of parking there. Playgrounds for the kids too, cafes and shops as well.

  • 5/5 Ann F. 7 months ago on Google
Great attraction. Incredible viewing points. Managed to get the only picnic table. Incredible place to have our lunch and do a bit of whale spotting. Lucky enough to see two in the distance. Fabulous place to enjoy peace and quiet as well as the views.

The Kiama Lighthouse, perched majestically atop Blowhole Point, is a coastal gem on New South Wales’ South Coast. Its iconic white tower and striking backdrop of rugged cliffs and azure waters make it a must-visit attraction. While it no longer serves as an active navigational aid, the lighthouse serves as a historical landmark and an excellent vantage point for whale watching during migration seasons. The surrounding Kiama Coastal Walk offers breathtaking vistas of the Pacific Ocean and access to the famous Kiama Blowhole. A visit to the Kiama Lighthouse promises not only panoramic views but also a deep connection to the region’s maritime heritage. The place is stunning, great for picnics and other outdoor activities. The place has designated parking space for caravans, locals shops and restaurants you can try near the train station. Great for families since there are playgrounds where the kids can play, accessible and clean toilets to use.

Who doesn't love a lighthouse. The blowhole next to it was cool. If you're lucky you might see a whale. It's free to park and visit.
