I can not recommend these guys enough!. We had the most amazing experience. I've snorkled before and saw some fish and saw some coral. With ABC we swam with Sam, a Marine Biologist who guided us, pointed out fish and coral species. His professionalism and enthusiasm made for a great experience. I'll be back.

My sister, dad and I dove with ABC on Boxing Day 2019, and I promised a review. The memory has evidently stuck with me long enough to make good on that! With just a couple weeks' advance request, the crew opened up a charter for December 26. I believe they ended up running with a full boat, but at the cost of cutting short their holiday. It's no exaggeration to say that their sacrifice on this front made my trip. As for the actual diving: I work as a biologist and make ~20 dives/year as part of my job. If I'm going to dive on holiday, it had better be fun. This trip did not disappoint, and the peace, quiet, and uniqueness of our dive sites was something I'd happily pay for again. My family snorkeled and were likewise very happy with the sites and service. The crew was friendly and helpful but not overbearing. In short: if you can afford it, do a favor for yourself, the reef, and the dive community, and buy a seat on this boat!

Amazing snorkeling trip, especially for first time divers. They are very well organized, clear, and safe. The crew is super friendly and helpful, we did three dives with John. Sam, Simon, Brad and Lizzie are also wonderful! What makes ABC so special, besides the people is that there are never more then 12 people on their boat and they can go to any part of the reef they want. Getting a go-pro is cool but its more fun to just look with your eyes and not have to worry about photos/ videos. Just take a few shots when you’re on the boat all suited up. I had never dived before and had an amazing experience! Would strongly recommend 10/10 to anyone.

Best snorkel trip on the reef! The locations are carefully chosen daily to give you the calmest waters and clearest visibility, while other tours are fairly set in where they take you. All the staff were friendly and extremely knowledgeable of the reef and its inhabitants, making the guided snorkel tour truly a delight. The small group size also means that there is more chance to ask lots of questions and make the most of your dive!

This was the most amazing day on the reef. Sam was a wealth of knowledge about the reef. He provided one of the best reef talks. The day was perfect especially after Jen helped me with my mask. The Reef was so alive, and the reefs we visited were just marvellous coral gardens. We could not have asked for a better day, the crew were very professional, friendly and helpful and with only 12 passengers it was like spending the day with friends. We had such a great day we quickly booked another day out in the same week.

Booked this trip last minute and got the last two seats on the boat. Best decision ever!! The team at ABC Snorkel are super friendly and made everything feel so easy. As promised, a small group of 12, which then split into groups of 6 to snorkel around the reef. We had a marine biologist and zoologist in the water with us, guiding and pointing out things we may have missed without them there. What a fantastic day snorkelling with ABC snorkel charters. Sam and Jen went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a wonderful experience. Neil the captain was great too! Sam and Jen gave a guided snorkelling tour sharing their amazing knowledge as well as letting us explore the reef. We all felt safe throughout the trip. Jen and Sam checked all our equipment and even washed it for us after. We saw some amazing fish, sharks and beautiful corals. Would highly recommend using this company. We did this snorkel tour as a family of four, with two adults and 11-year-olds. This was an absolute highlight of our trip to Far North Queensland. Jen and Sam were friendly and helpful and knowledgeable. It was amazing to be on a boat with just 12 passengers so we could go to reefs that are closed to bigger boats and also because they gave us lots of individual attention. Jen helped ensure our whole family had a wonderful time by towing each of our children in turn on her float and giving my daughter personalised instruction on how to use the snorkel. She also found us lots of anemone clownfish and dived down deep to take GoPro footage for us. We saw a white-tipped reef shark, a stingray and dolphins! It’s more expensive going on the smaller boat but worth it for us.

We flew from overseas and gotta say we def had a 5/5 day out at the Great Barrier Reef! Our guide Sam and Jane are super friendly and gave us detailed guidance all the way through. Guaranteed great laugh and interesting marine knowledge for your snorkeling trip with them.

What a fantastic way to celebrate Jacks 40th Birthday! The crew were so knowledgeable and friendly and the sea life was amazing. It was so nice to not be "just another number" like on some of the large tour boats. It was so peaceful and there was an abundance of beautiful sea life for everyone in our small group to enjoy. It was also great how the crew joined us in the water and pointed out lots of incredible animals through the reefs. This was the best snorkel experience I have ever had! Jen and Sam were extremely knowledgeable about the reef and also ensured everyone felt comfortable and were having a good time! Jason, the boat captain, was very helpful and found the best spots for us to snorkel the reef. I would highly recommend this tour and look forward to coming back.

Best day ever! It was the first time diving for me but they really thought of everything. The group was small and with plenty of crew on board you really get the personal attention you need. We went to 3 different sites on the reef and dived at all 3. Definitely worth it!

Wonderful day of diving in a small group with helpful and attentive guides and crew. Definitely worth the extra cash for a quieter, safer and more personalised experience compared to the big boats. We were the only boat at all three dive locations and on my last dive it was just me and the instructor. The boat is comfortable and spacious and there was plenty of food and drinks available during the day. Definitely recommend that you go with ABC, whether you’re diving or snorkelling! Or both!

We stumbled upon this company after excessive online searching for smaller diving groups. We were BEYOND happy that we found this gem and can absolutely recommend ABC to everyone and anyone. This company needs more visibility - cause this is a once in a lifetime experience these guys will give you. We were one good swimmer (with a fear of sharks xD) and one semi good swimmer (who received a noodle :) and went snorkling. If youre anything like me and are scared of sharks and stingers etc, you have nothing to be scared about. This is the most professional and experienced crew you will ever come across in PD. all in all, It was absolutely amazing, we saw so many fish, the coral was beautiful and the water super clear. We saw stingrays, rainbow fish, unicorn fish, nemos, dorothys, trumpet fish, and sooo much more!! The crew members were so awesome (Jorg and Sam - thanks for taking such good care of us). Due to its small size, the boat could take us to reefs where no other boats in PD can get, and it really pays off. The group was very small, which really enhanced the experience. After reading many reviews about how big other tours were we decided to go with a smaller tour and were very happy we did. If you have the funds, we can really recommend to choose this provider. !

So happy we chose to go with this company as they have a limited number of guests. Only 10 divers/snorkelers so it was great. Delicious food, clean boat and the team were genuinely very friendly and helpful. We visited 3 different locations and saw plenty of marine life and great coral. We had a fantastic day!

Excellent tour with value for money with a small group. Jen and Sam were outstanding, knowledgable guides and were attentive to all of their guests' needs. The reefs we visited are not regularly used by other tour companies and were in great condition with an abundance of fish, clams and even a friendly white tipped shark! This is the second time we have gone through this company and will continue operating through ABC Snorkel Charters in future visits to Port Douglas.

Snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef has always been a bucket list item for me and snorkeling with Sam, Jen, and Neil is now a top life experience! Sam was our main guide and he was super knowledgeable about all of the marine life which made the snorkeling tour so enjoyable! The small group experience with ABC Snorkel is definitely the way to go. There were so many fish and so many different species! It was amazing to be able to experience the reef with minimal humans around. Sam was attentive to each person in the group and paid special attention to ensure everyone was comfortable and having a great time. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour and will always remember this special experience.

We went diving two days with ABC.  The first day we must have had 11 or 12 people on the boat with us.  We dove with a couple dive masters.  The first was Sam.  I didn't catch the other guy's name.  They were both good.  The second guy took my wife a little longer for one of the dives as she had more air in her tank when we went up.  I was impressed with Sam's proficiency.  After the first day I emailed Jay and asked if we could dive with Sam again the second day. Jay's reply was that it was Sam's day off, but Sam said he would come in and dive anyway.  The second day there were fewer people on board - I believe only six divers.  I have gone scuba diving on another smaller vessel before as well as snorkeling in a large group.  For scuba in particular I much prefer the atmosphere in a smaller setting.  It was fun to get to know everyone on the boat on the way to and from the dive sites. Wildlife highlights included a reef shark, cuttlefish and stingray.  We got to dive in a current and do a drift dive, both were new to me.

We had a wonderful time out on the reef with ABC! Sam and Jen were authentic, enthusiastic, and professional guides. On the boat ride over, they showed us various maps to orient ourselves as to what reefs we’d be seeing and their relationship to Port Douglas. They showed us pictures and gave us interesting facts and trivia about some of the marine life we might see. We were split into two groups of six, and we tagged along with our guide as they pointed out and identified various types of fish and coral. Both of the guides were so genuine and friendly, and nothing about the trip felt gimmicky or impersonal. Thank you again for a lovely time!

Fantastic day out today with ABC Snorkel Charters. Just 12 on the boat and snorkelling with Jen and Sam, highly experienced and enthusiastic Guides to show us so many wonderful sites, nemos, lion fish, green turtle and fabulous coral. Had two by 1.5 hour swimming sessions which were terrific. Great way to see the reef and maximise your time on the water. boat went comfortably through the choppy sea.

Absolutely amazing day! Sam and Jen with ABC Snorkel did a first class job. They are very knowledgeable and were eager to share and teach. The gear provided was in really good condition. We had our snorkel locations entirely to ourselves. 😍. I would not hesitate to book again next time and will recommend to friends coming this way.

We were hesitant about going out on the reef as neither of us are completely comfortable with the open water, but when you're near the reef, you should see the reef. We loved that ABC provide an intimate cruise, with instructors/guides that all have marine biology qualifications. On the boat, Jen, Sam and Gina talked us through what we were going to see, what we might see, and the effects that humans have had on the reef's ecosystem (which out being preachy at all). Although they're probably out there everyday, our guides (plus captain Jason) were all incredibly excited about what they were seeing, and what they were able to show us. Definitely recommend taking food of the snacking variety as anything too heavy may not go down and stay down too well Also, if you're thinking about taking a stomach calming medication -just take it. Consider it your insurance tool.

We did a day snorkelling tour yesterday before joining the ABC Team today, and yes, you can tell the difference. I enjoyed the time from the start till the end. You can tell Jen is so passionate about the marine life and the reefs, and you probably think she is the Aussie Ariel! She translated the fish sound/activities and reefs structure into human language.Took so many photos and videos though not as good quality, but convinced that I need a GoPro after seeing of their amazing photos under the sea. Definitely going back!

We had an amazing day trip with ABC. Sam, Jen, Lydia and Casey were very personable and helpful. They were honestly a real highlight - so much passion for what they do and so easy to chat with. Great Experience with a private charter on the ABC Snorkeling boat. Captain Gallagher and Sam were amazing. Really attentive, caring and very knowledgeable. Took us out to a quiet spot with no one else around. Saw sharks, turtles, and tons of other sea life, Jay the owner was great to deal with too. Highly Recommend.

Wow.. So very pleased we chose ABC, their Team on the Boat were all so very personable, exceptionally knowledgeable as divers but also professionally qualified to better understand this awesome natural wonder and their passion shone through the entire day. With the boat being smaller than it competitors from Port Douglas, we were able to get amongst the reefs and hop from one to another, visiting some of the less frequented areas and as a maximum of 12 people, there was loads of space and the boat was comfortable. Highly recommended..

ABC Snorkel Charters took us to Tongue Reef on the GBR. The crew and guides were super helpful and friendly throughout the trip. The most guests taken on the boat is 12, and because of that, we really enjoyed the personal attention! The snorkeling was spectacular. The varieties of coral and fish were incredible. Beyond words! 5 STARS for ABC!

We chose ABC Snorkel for their small group charter boat and guidance, and we will not regret with our decision. If Great Barrier Reef is in our bucket list, budget is not a constraint and you want to experience the colorful coral reef and fishes at leisure without crowd please go with them. Absolutely loved this tour! We picked it especially for the low numbers and the ability to visit less frequented areas of the Great Barrier Reef. We all had a fantastic time. I have always been amazed by the Great Barrier Reef and I had high expectations about it. And after today's experience, I just can't be more grateful of coming across with this crew!! Can't recommend it enough! The good vibes and professionalism, the whole information about different species and the reef itself, the small groups and THE experience itself! Being in different spots by our own with amazing and vibrant corals full of life! From my experience, I believe that this company need to be shared everywhere so people know about them and don't (as in my case) just "came across" with it. What an amazing experience with ABC Snorkeling! We had both Sam and Brad, with Sam leading our group. SUPER knowledgeable, and if he saw something (and he seemed to spot everything!), he always paused, and dove down to point it out...even taking my GoPro down to get awesome footage of things that I hadn’t seen! From the moment we set off, to the briefing while heading out to the Reef, everything was absolutely perfect. So glad we booked with this company, couldn’t have been a better experience! Alass! I am a local up in Port Douglas and have been very eager to get into Free Diving since one of the Natural Wonders of the World is just a 40 min speed boat ride out from Port. Being a sailor/ novice freediver, living in rather remote places makes it difficult/complicated to find quality gear for Scuba Diving and Free Diving... I must say having a Dive Shop like ABC S.C.P.D. with such a remarkably wide spectrum of quality gear up here is a blessing. Jay is great and is always so accommodating. He makes sure one gets THE RIGHT gear that is NEEDED as well as making sure one is provided for in the best way possible. So thanks again Jay for your generosity AND the TOP NOTCH Free Dive weight belt, it sure enhanced my experience to go deeper, explore more & do a good job! Wow - what an amazing experience! We really loved every moment of it: the small group (12) on the boat, our guides Jorg and Sam and the captain who all went out of their way to make this day a memorable experience. We snorkeled in a group of 6 + our guide Jorg - and saw turtles, reef sharks, clams and beautiful, colorful fish (including Nemo and Dory). Really good to see how colorful the coral was in the locations we snorkeled too. Jorg was very knowledgeable about the reef and pointed everything out to us. Our boys (11 + 8 years old) also loved it. Highlight of our Port Douglas holiday! Just do it!

Really solid operation with very friendly staff. If you want to avoid the big boats with 50 or more divers it’s the best option, we were only 5 divers and we were separated in two groups. Jorg our dive master was really good above and under the water. Would recommend without hesitation

Top day out on the reef. Great guides

I have been out to the Great Barrier Reef on a couple of trips but this one was the best one yet. While it wasn't the greatest weather, and I was a bit concerned about the visibility, I shouldn't have been worried, the crew took us to two amazing spots in the middle of the ocean and we saw so much. So many different kinds of fish, corals, even turtles and little reef sharks! Lots of my favourite giant clams too. We had two very long sessions in the water and spent the whole time mesmerised and amazed. The crew were very knowledgeable, helpful and very friendly. I really liked being part of such a small group trip - you can feel like a bit of a number on some of the larger boats/tours. The small group size means we could maximise our time in the water and got lots of personal attention and information. I would highly recommend ABC Snorkel Charters and wouldn't hesitate to go out again if I am up that way.

From the first interaction the team at ABC Snorkel were great, Anja answered all my queries and even gave me pointers to an awesome lunch spot in PD. We wanted a smaller more personalised snorkeling trip and that is exactly what we got - with only 10 travellers (including us) and 3 snorkeling guides! Sam, Jorg and Kat were our guides for the day, they were knowledgeable, enthusiastic and really friendly - it was great to have almost one on one time with the guides and it meant that we could ask loads of questions (while we were in the water) and they pointed out lots of things that we could have easily missed if we were snorkelling alone. We felt safe in the water with all the correct equipment and a someone always looking out for us in the water (thanks Wayne). The two spots we went to were beautiful - we had them both completely to ourselves - which was an unexpected nice surprise. We saw turtles, sharks, clams, eagle rays, sting rays, a giant cod, clown fish, huge parrot fish and loads of other amazing stuff (I lost count). You do pay a little more for this trip but given the level of personalised service you get I think it is well worth it! Due to COVID we did have to bring out own lunch. I would definately use Abc Snorkel Charters again and would recommend.

Low numbers and personal service. I dived with ABC in Feb this year and it was a great day. The crew are enthusiastic and knowledgeable, the boat is comfortable and well put together. I love the low numbers and the flexibility of dive sights. The visibility was outstanding even for Feb and the marine life was abundant. Anyone who says the reef is in bad shape, hasn't been to the GBR recently and if you are heading up here, ABC is definitely a fun day.

Each cruise with max 12 people on board allows individual attendees to learn and enjoy the dive and snorkelling. The Team is 100% into safety for everyone on board, they watch out for you at all times, trying to give you the best possible experience. We spent a full day on board, were brought to three different reef locations, in between we got fresh water, coffee, fruit and lunch, too. More than one can ask for. I cannot recommend the ABC team highly enough. It’s the only team I would choose with one instructor for 4 attendees, outstanding and very impressive. Thank you for an awesome experience 🙏

ABC took my family out for a private charter to snorkle and explore. The team were in constant contact and actually shifted our booking to suit the weather on our 4 day stay, offering us many options to suit family and conditions. We were lucky enough to have a brilliant green turtle experience along with reef sharks and amazing coral. Onboard the skipper and guide were faultless, nothing was too hard. Soooo good , I'm going home to book my next adventure with ABC a bit later this year. Thank you so much..
