We had been here regularly, but today experience was terrible. When we entered, we asked if we could sit at the cushion area, but was told by the waitress that she prefer us to sit at the bar. Then, I asked her again that we would like to sit at the cushion areas, but she repeatedly said she PREFER us to sit at the bar. At that point of time, only one seat was occupied and I though probably it is for 2 or more patron. However, after that, she allowed a guest of two to sit there, and another waiter served a walk in guest of two and ask where do they prefer to sit and was ushered to the cushion area. Back in the past, when it was busy, we can even wait for the seat at the cushion area to be vacant, but I am not sure what's wrong today. Is it because we are being profiled. I tried to be understanding because it is because of booking or the number of pax, but after seeing two groups of customers after us, the entire experience is ruin. Working In the hospitality industry, we all know dining in a restaurant is more than just the food, it is about the entire experience and going for the extra mile. Worst, being a table service restaurant, this service is incorrigible.

Sushi close to its absolute best. The food is always fresh, made professionally, looks amazing and tastes great. The staff are friendly, polite and always prompt and punctual. The best example of what a sushi conveyor restaurant should be.

Struggling sushi train outlet S16°54.802' E145°45.857' Between tons of motels and apartments on Sheridan Street, this branch of Sushi Train was anonymous. The same for the interior: bar of booths. A bottle shop is next door for BYO. Earlier in the day in September 2018, staff told us the restaurant would remain open until 11pm, but upon arrival, it closed at 9pm. This had of big influence on the choice & quality of the food on the belt when we entered the restaurant at 8pm. With the leftovers on the belt, we ordered sushi from the menu. The quality of the sushi did not impress our taste buds. Freshness was clearly missing. Meanwhile staff started cleaning the kitchen and restaurant and giving us the signal of last order. This was not a relaxed and enjoyable dinner. Sushi Train North Cairns failed in two departments: food and service. Not recommended.

Quite possibly the best sushi train I have been to in terms of food quality. The beef was amazing, the sashimi was fantastic, the pork dumplings, prawn rolls and chicken were all great too. Big selection, everything was hot and well made. Couldn’t rate it higher. Atmosphere was as expected for a sushi train chain.

Great sushi, On a train (Surprise!), and great prices. Tasty sushi and amazing service... There is just no reason not to go! Also, there is a wide variety of Japanese meals if you feel like it.

Fresh sushi at very affordable price which was a relief after dining out in Cairns the previous days.

Food was good but the service was underwhelming. We were seated right away but we’re told it was last call as soon as we sat down. We ordered, ate and at 8:55 we were told they were closing and we need to pay and take the rest for takeaway. Being asked to leave the restaurant before closing is disrespectful. If you don’t want to serve your customers, just close your business. It’s just rude!

Whenever I visit Sushi Train, this is the place I always go to because it's far from home but delicious. It's a shame they don't have my favourite taco wasabi, but they have halibut fins, squid and gnatfish, so I always come back. I'm sure once they have more variety in their sushi rolls, they'll be the best sushi train in Cairns. The best sushi train in Cairns.

Pretty good for non expensive train sushi with a good variety - 10-12 types of fish. Neither of fish nigiri seems to be on the belt but it’s always better to order fresh anyway

Nigiri were so small, one would not call them a sushi. Not fresh, acceptable, but far from a good quality sushi. Extremely highly priced for the size and quality. No soy source, no ginger, I managed to get a little bit of wasabi tho...

This creation was shown to me by a friend and unfortunately isn’t on the official menu but you must try this! Chicken volcano katsu nigiri. You will be in heaven. 😊

Busy weekend lunch time, we were seated immediately. Everything on the train was hot & fresh, great selection - didn't have to order anything! Best Sushi Train in Cairns. Parking is also good.

Our favourite sushi place. Fresh sushi, made to order. Sister has been to other chains around and reckons this is the freshest. My kids eat non stop when they come here. I once tried feeding them pizza before dinner here and it didn't make a difference for the amount they are able to eat. Still cost just as much...but at least the kids were happy.

Ways the best of the sushi train restaurants in Cairns. I drive past two others to get to this one. Usually have to wait to get a table as a consequence of their sensational quality food. Highly recommend

Fantastic service and very fresh food. Very happy to be placed in a booth as we had 2 small children. Staff were helpful. I’ll be back and will recommend this place to friends.

Overall ok but unfortunately we sat here for around 40 min right on lunch, (12:30) and a few of the main popular dishes swung past empty the entire visit, our young boys really only ate these!

Good sushi spot!. Very clean and a nice place to eat. Service is great, food is good. The selection is a lot bigger than the other sushi trains in Cairns, so there are more people. The wait time can be between 10-15mins.

Good as! Staff were welcoming and there was a large variety of dishes on the conveyer belt. Staff were nice and the prices weren’t too silly. Wasn’t expecting much but was pleasantly surprised.

I rate this place a 1 star for the inconsistency in service and quality of food. We have been long time diners of this place but tonight definitely has me second guessing on our return. After a 30 minute wait (on 3 plates + several staff members) and a complaint I made, we decided to leave. I ended up taking away my food. But came home to avocado going black (pictured). How they think it’s acceptable to service this, is unbelievable. We weren’t offered anything but expected to accept a “sorry”. The service in Cairns has really gone down the drain. Won’t be returning here. Thank you for putting a bad taste in my mouth (literally).

Food is the usual good standard but the younger customer service staff need some more training in customer service - greeting and thanking customers etc. You come to expect the high standard of Japanese courtesy from staff at Sushi Trains. This one was a little lacking on that front but otherwise good.

High standard of quality in both their sushi and their customer service, usually easy to park there as well.

Service was incredibly friendly & the sashimi hit the spot. However, a lot of the other sushi dishes were falling apart when picked up (not rolled/packed properly) & there was constantly wrong signage on the conveyor belt, resulting in us to taking the wrong dish. Apart from the above, it’s not a badly priced place for what it is.

Freshest and best price Sushi in Cairns. Most plates are $2 - $3 cheaper than the horrible shopping centre sushi.

Lovely! Food was very nice and tasty, quite big servings. We had 2 people, under 50aud pay and just managed to barely breathable with a full stomach when leaving. Must try their gyoza, karaage and don't forget a cup of hot green tea.

Amazing food, excellent staff, everything was fresh, if you want something that's not on the train you can order from your phone. We are a family of 8 so it can get expensive but not here, prices are excellent, I highly recommend.

We were visiting Cairns and this was our first restaurant and I am impressed! The taste and freshness exceeded our expectations. The staff were extremely friendly and our order was served quickly. The Salmon volcano here is a must try along with spicy mayo tuna and Blueberry cheesecake. Could introduce more variety but whatever is served is done right.
