Lovely area to walk along at sunset. Many people walking and exercising along the pier. Lovely seeing so many people out and about.

The Pier, Cairns Visited on 13/7/2022 Where are the people- the shopkeepers, staff and most importantly, the customers? This shopping centre is so quiet that I can hear a pin drop. This is a sign of a victim of the COVID pandemic. Many shops are open for business, and some are close for good. The atrium is empty and has no music, and no activity. When shops are close, lights not turned on, and hence makes the centre look and feel more depressing. One shop that catches my attention is the Cains Miniature Village, but it is close. What business is this about? Sadly Coffee Bean is quiet too. On the contrary, the pier and jetty are full of people, children and adults, queuing to board the various touring boats to some islands. I think it is a missed opportunity to attract these holidaymakers to come to The Pier, even these are local clients from Australia.

Nicely landscaped area next to the jetty where you can relax before boarding a vessel or just having something to eat. There are benches to sit in some in the shade and some artwork to look at. Good place to chill.

Loved this place - vibe is incredible, scenery is fabulous with choice of different restaurants. A pleasant morning, afternoon, of evening walk along the river completes the visit

Had a couple of beer selections on tap with a variety in the fridge. Great view, and the food looked very nice. Only stopped in for afternoon drinks.

A very busy place. Was hard to get a table to sit at. The place was very nice. We had a meal and it was great. View over water was nice too.

This mall has potential to be great, however it appears covid has not been kind, there are many empty stores.

Visited the shopping area, some branded and expensive stuff but we went into a clothing shop with intentions of just looking around but came put with 2 dresses and 2 earrings. The lady there is so informative and friendly. Visited the coffee club and ordered a soy Latte and Soy Mocha and it was delicious. Haven't found another place that made great coffee like this place yet in Cairns.

29.05.2022 The Pier, a great location in Cairns. Sadly still suffering badly due to COVID and lack of cruise ships. Definitely worth a visit as the restaurants are all open, retail shops not so much but the one's open are worth the visit.

Nice pier to walk around and chill. Lots of cafeteria and restaurants. If you go during xmas, new year time, ensure booking ahead for dinner. They can get very very busy!

Plenty of dining options. Beautiful water front dining. Good place to take a morning or evening stroll. Becomes lively in the night with bars and restaurants.

Restaurants were great and position is excellent. The shops are a little sad but that's a reflection of the times..!!

Nice walk around the harbour, some good restaurants to try out and fresh seafood from the trawler

This mall self proclaimed upscale shopping/dining venue - the word upscale can be subjective. Suggest people to visit with open mind. Coming from Melb/Sydney, when people refer to upscale - it is the standard of Westfield Sydney, Crown (Sydney/Melb), Melbourne Emporium, Chadstone Shopping. The Pier, as the name suggest, is by the water - it is suppose to be beautiful, romantic and everything one can imagine but this mall & restaurants is looking uninteresting, tired and dated (past its use by date). It can use a refurb and new set of tenants (make it relevant to today's flavor).

While browsing through The Pier, Cairns Lifestyle Hub on Sunday evening 13/02/22 we came across a business inside named Cairns Miniature Village a display of model buildings of Cairns. The business was closed at the time & hope to re-visit sometime.

Great views of the cairns inlet

  • 3/5 Gav V. 3 years ago on Google
The toilets were dirty and need a major refurb. All the restaurants share the same public toilets and require the user to handle door after door going into and out of the toilets. Automatic or doorless entry to the toilets would be best as you feel as though your hands are dirty again after touching each door handle coming into and out of the amenities. The overall building seems to have no soul or culture, very drab and dated. Carpark is usually pretty easy to navigate but we had issues with the card machine to pay at the end of the night which swallowed the card. The customer service rep quickly came to our aid and gave us a new card to leave. Overall if it wasn't for the restaurants, hotel and 2 hour free parking the pier has no real attraction. Suggestion: many locals talk fondly of the Piers hayday when it was alive with entertainment and a giant foodcourt on the second level which hailed cuisines from all over the world.

This is the hub for great barrier reef excursions. Very well run and efficient. There are a bunch of restaurants in the area and stores that sell towels, seas sickness pills etc. All of the tours are run out of the same building right in front of the pier

The Cairns Marlin Marina is a paradise for boat lovers and the central point of departure for people wanting to visit Fitzroy and Green Islands as well as a range of water based activities.

The Pier, located in the centre of Cairns right on the waterfront is an excellent venue for a meal or cooling ale. Suitable for all over 18+ Attracts a younger crowns on Friday and Sunday Afternoons/ nights. They may even have live music on 1 or both of those days. They have 3 pool tables inside and an outside deck for those who like to be in the fresh air. A dedicated smoking area is available.

  • 4/5 Maria K. 5 years ago on Google
Lovely walk some of those boats are just breathtaking. Very well looked after and clean and lots of food places to choose from. If you are a fish lover you can eat fish to your hearts content. The pool area is also such a nice area for the family to spend time. Enjoy the day out and about.

Great walk along the waterfront. All sealed paths, bbq facilities at various spots, & free, with running water. Heaps of bench tables with some under cover, tree shaded or in the open. Plenty of grassed areas too. Some surrounding the man-made freshwater swimming lagoon. On the boardwalk there are heaps of shops and cafes... seems to go on forever!!

  • 3/5 Trudy E. 10 months ago on Google
A few nice shops but empty ones too. Has a weekend market sometimes. Good variety of restaurants & bars on the outside decks.

Stayed at the hotel and dinned along the board walk, great restaurant's and views. Shops inside through the arcade.

Just awful food and zero customer service. Ordered “teriyaki steak”, what actually arrived was a steak covered in sweet chilli sauce which I don’t like. Apparently, sweet chilli sauce is the “the chefs take on teriyaki” and worse “ we don’t do refunds just because you don’t like it” the garlic bread was tasteless and had no detectable garlic in it. I’m told the chefs “take on teriyaki” overrides my own sense of taste, perhaps some ketchup would be a better “take” on appalling culinary skills and a lack of customer focus. Would add pictures but unable to do so.

Always pleasant walking around the pier. Nice cafes and shade, parking ok too. Not the cheapest place to stop but not to be missed.

  • 2/5 André R. 1 year ago on Google
Outside restaurants are great, but inside is a ghost town. Only good to cool down inside, nothing else. Seemed like a good idea at the time?

It's in a sad state from the days of the bustling 90's where the Pier was in its prime. It was filled with amazing stores, eateries and entertainment. It lacks everything. I only went to the Pier for an event which was in fact mediocre. I absolutely hate seeing it looking so dead ..

Best car park in Cairns, a little tight to get in and out. Nothing worse than coming back to your car that’s been baking in the sun all day, This car park is underground out of the rays so your car won’t be an oven. And the first two hours free? Bloody perfect

Great location. Great restaurants. Needs something to draw customers in to the shopping area. Maybe they could do night time cinema to get more in. Big projector and lots of deck chairs and beanbags. Get some vibes happening

Lovely selection of eating houses for anytime of the day. So pleasant to see water, boats, birds while enjoying a great meal. A variety of restaurants on offer. Seafood, beef, pasta, vegan and vegetarian options available. Then after you can walk it off with a stroll along the waterfront.

What can I say it is a very modern pier. It’s a little crazy around 7-8am with all the boats departing.

Wow what a ghost town. Having grown up in Cairns and remembered this as a thriving place to be. Now half empty and what’s left is mostly corporate offices. Still a few nice restaurants on the outside but wouldn’t waste your time walking inside.

Loved the atmosphere here, lots of restaurants on the outside and nice walk to the CBD from there. Inside was a bit disappointing as most stores were closed or empty. There is a nice dress shop and swimwear shop.

A lot of empty shops..which make shopping not so exciting. However Man Overboard has excellent mens clothes, really different comfortable menswear. Our main reason for going there. The pier bar is excellent as well.

Free parking for 2 hrs which is great when you go for dinner. The Pier in its day was pumping with great shops back in the early 90s so sad to see not much there anymore as it is in a great location on the waterfront.

Unfortunately 90% of the stores have closed down. No doubt due to COVID-19 but little remains hence the 3 stars.
