I had planned to stay in Pilgrim for three days and I was two months finally. I met really nice people there, it was unbeliveable to see how tidy was everything and how everybody worked on keep the place clean. The hostel and sourroundings are in a very quiet and lovely area and if you are looking for a farming job there are always opportunities in the huon valley. The family is gorgeous and made me feel as in home from the first day. PD: Don't go if you don't like kids, but if you like them is gonna be a really fun experience.

I had a fantastic time at Pilgrim Hill. It's a smaller hostel, a peaceful and comfortable place where it's easy to get to know other travelers. If you ever feel travel weary, come here. It's a great place to put your backpack down and feel at home whilst on an adventure in Australia. There's farm work close by, and it's a good base to explore south/south-west Tasmania (which I think are the best parts!). It's an off-grid hostel (although it doesn't feel that way because everything works so well) amongst forested hills in the Huon Valley and there's lots of native Tasmanian wildlife to see around you. Peirce and Christina are so generous and welcoming. I feel lucky to have stayed here with you guys.

Pilgrim Hill is the best hostel I have ever stayed at Tasmania. It's located exactly on the hill and a little bit far from the centre, that's why the location is very quiet and the air is also good. I came 9 of November 2022 and stayed till 18 of March 2023. I'm a solo girl traveller and feel a little bit afraid, but when I came to this place, I found not just a place to stay, but I got a place called 'home' and 'family'. I'm so grateful I stayed in this place, I never feel home sick because Baehr's family are very nice and friends who like family. I'll miss this place, the people, and family dinners I'll come back someday. πŸ€žπŸ™Œ

The first and only hostel in my life that I could call HOME. Christina and Peirce are amazing, always ready to help you and let you feel at home. Christina's food is amazing, Peirce is always ready to help you with everything. The best hostel I ever visit

As a long term traveller I have stayed in many hostels, home stays and shared accommodations. Pilgrim hill has to be the most welcoming and best value of all them. The location is spectacular, the food cooked three times a week is restaurant quality and the family are all wonderful humans trying their very best to help you in whatever way they can. Pierce is patient and understanding, knowing that many travellers are unsure of their next steps, and can help you find work at the local orchards. Christina is warm and caring, growing her own herbs and vegetables, that you can help yourself too, as well as cooking incredible food. Margaret will go well out of her way to make your experience special, showing you the southern lights and cooking your favourite desserts. While her husband Jack will keep you laughing with his quick wit and funny stories. The children (all 8 of them) are respectful and really quite funny. They’ll take great pride in showing you the surrounding area and their pets, including Barnabas their soppy black Labrador, who is awesome! As a non religious person I was unsure of coming into a Christian hostel, I’m quite sure in my own beliefs and didn’t want to cause offence, but I found the whole experience insightful and positive. Not once did I feel pressured or my opinion not valued. In fact I found the conversation about Christianity and the philosophy around it eye opening and valuable. I highly recommend stoping by pilgrim hill to anyone in Tasmania. Especially on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday so you can enjoy the food!! I hope to come back again and see how the place develops. Great job guys, I’ll miss you x

I first started as a guest... not knowing the duration of my stay, but it turned into something long-term for me! And with good reason! Everything anyone has to say about this place is the absolute truth, and these experiences are coming from many different types of people with various backgrounds. That just goes to show how Pilgrim Hill brings people together. From the open-mindedness and great chats, to the lovely meals, scenery and comfy beds... no wonder why I called it my home for 5 months. I miss my Pilgrim Hill family and I hope to go back some day. If you’ve taken anything from this review or the others, just trust it... you’ll find yourself coming back here to say the same :) miss you guys!

Pilgrim Hill hostel was the best accommodation I have stayed at during my one month travel in Tassie. I spent one night there, and, appreciated it so much that I made a detour at the end of my trip to spend a second night there. The hosts are really welcoming and flexible, the kids absolutely adorable, you want to meet them. The shared room is very clean, everything you need to cook, hot shower and clean Eco-friendly toilet. Great location at the top of a hill in the bush. Unlike the car noise often annoying in classic hostels, you will only hear bird song there. Highly recommended!

Dear Pilgrim Hill, I found you at a time where my path was unclear; at a time when my mind was busy and the options seemed daunting. Peirce & Christina created a space for reflection, connection with my fellow hostel friends, love from the children, and wisdom with a side of dessert. I feel like another level of travel wisdom has been achieved, in the trusting, the allowing, and following the open doors. Much gratitude for you all.πŸ’•
