Located at Tamborine mountain, this small family run retreat is a must visit if you want a quick weekend getaway. The room is very traditional Japanese with imported tatami and local custom furnitures to enhance the Japanese atmosphere. We stayed at the room with bed and outdoor jacuzzi. It was nice star gazing while soak in jacuzzi but I wouldn’t mind trying the traditional tatami bed and wooden bath next time. The overall design of the room is well laid out. Each room has own private toilet and showering facility. The couple that runs this place is very friendly and answers all the questions you have in mind. They are also know a lot about Japan (husband is Japanese) so if planing to travel to Japan soon they can offer a lot of advice. The quantity breakfast next morning is big with lots of nice choices. Overall a very pleasant stay and a nice getaway. Would recommend for returns as well.

We had an absolute amazing time here for two days. Warm afternoon tea welcome by Hideyo and Louise followed by a personal tour of our room and facilities. We also had great conversations and we truly felt home. The smell of wood, tatami and design are all carefully thought out. Our tastebuds exploded from the rich Japanese cuisine home made and professionally presented. The bath (Tsuru room) was the pinnacle of the trip, relaxing our body and mind in an authentic direct-from-Japan bathtub. The experience well and truly exceeded our expectations and we will definitely come back again. 감사합니다! 謝謝！

We had an amazing time at Yumeji! Thank you Louise and Hideyo for hosting us, they are the most attentive and friendly hosts we have ever met! The moment we walked into the house, it felt like we were transported back to Japan. The Tsuru room we stayed in was spacious and clean, also loved the private cypress timber bath in the room as well as the smell of the tatami flooring. Despite it being rainy and cold when we visited, the futons kept us warm and was so comfortable. Breakfast was super generous and delicious too! We hope to be back again one day!

Such a pleasant and peaceful experience! Louise and Hideyo are so welcoming and made you feel like you are home. The breakfast is out of this world and worth to just go there for the breakfast! Highly recommend for a peaceful weekend away close to home.

The best place to stay. It was a unique and pleasant experience that we will always remember fondly. The hosts were kind and lovely people. The breakfasts were the best we’d ever had. The cypress wood bath was incredibly relaxing after a day of exploring Mt Tamborine. Definitely recommend staying at Yumeji.

As close to the essence of Japan as you will experience without needing to fly to Japan itself. The breakfast is incredibly unique to experience within Australia. Highly recommended and thank you to the hosts!
