Had an amazing experience listening to the music here for a full 6 hours… sometimes fully immersed in the sounds, sometimes focussing on the architecture or the surrounding sky and landscape and enjoying the interplay between all these elements. It’s a true measure of an artwork if it makes you think and feel in a new or different way - and the Cobar Sound Chapel certainly did this for me.

Loved the whole set up. Each sound seems to surround you and feels right and tranquil. Looking up at the sky is also very relaxing. Due to the recent rain the cushions were wet but that was ok. Would be a lovely place to go if a person was feeling troubled.

The Cobar Sound Chapel offers a unique and beautiful experience like no other. It's a little disappointing to read some other reviews that show that people aren't researching their visit - it's not the kind of transient experience that a lookout or landmark offers, so it needs to be treated with the same respect and attention that its creators have dedicated to it. Read up about it, it's an easy booking system and you simply leave a $100 deposit then take the key and you become the ONLY people able to enjoy this wonderful experience at the time you're there. We were lucky enough to be able to spend 4+ hours there and enjoyed the change of music and atmosphere from afternoon, through sunset, to dark. Absolutely mind-blowing from a musical and cultural perspective and visually it's incredibly engaging and beautiful, as are the surroundings. To have the music of Georges Lentz, one of Australia's foremost composers, playing 24/7 in the middle of nowhere in this stunning building is beyond comparison and should be enjoyed by as many people as possible.

Booked a private tour through the website, it was so worth it. We visited at night and again in the morning. A beautifully designed space, incredible audio and other worldly experience. Close to town, but far enough away to feel serene and calm away from it all. Very helpful and friendly operators. Cobar is also a great town.

What an extraordinary place this is. Surprising and fantastic. I loved the way the sound composition rose and fell and was intermingled with the sounds of winds and birds outside. Somehow it felt like the Sound Chapel evoked the spirit of an ancient landscape.

I was excited to come here but when we arrived another couple had informed us that we needed a key to get in and it was a $300 cash payment for the key which was given back to you when the key was returned. I was not told that by the information centre when I asked what to do in Cobar and they told me about this place. Also, who carries $300 cash these days? I would willingly give them my credit card number. I know the place has to be protected. The other people were told somebody had the key. So only one key available. Alas we got to see the outside. A tad disappointed.

Beautiful experience of the chapel and the soundtrack. I advise to visit in the evening, 30-60 min before sunset, and to stay until it's totally dark outside.

Sounds and looks mysterious, haunting, gorgeous, creepy, all in one. We visited in mid-September on a beautiful sunny day, in the morning and again in the afternoon. Different light conditions, different sounds, the music is eerie and beautiful. Great interplay between music and building. The music works to perfection with the temple-like structure and the graffiti on the tank. The whole thing lingers in the mind. Challenging perhaps but amazing, we absolutely loved the Sound Chapel!

A wonderful experience, and a rare opportunity to enjoy a unique visual and aural artistic design at your own pace without anyone else around. I highly recommend contacting the helpful staff in Cobar in advance to confirm your preferred time to visit.

What a wonderful space. Was great to visit this creative re-use of a disused water tank. Unfortunately, due to inclement weather we were unable to camp out there for the evening but will get another chance.
